Page 1

Instructions for Creating an Account on Moodle 1) Go to: https://moodle.fcaq.k12.ec/ (NOTE the ‘s’ in https) 2) On the right hand side near the bottom, there is a button that says “Create new account”. Please click this button. 3) On the next page, you will have to fill out a short form: a. For username, please use first initial, then last name (no spaces). For example: ccardoso b. For password, please use a password you won’t forget (use the same one as your email address) c. For email address, please DO NOT use your FCAQ account. This is because the FCAQ account blocks emails from Moodle. Please use an alternate email account such as hotmail or yahoo that you have access to. d. The rest of the form is pretty straight forward. Please fill it out (remember “surname” just means “last name”). 4) When you are finished filling out the form, click on “Create My New Account” 5) On the next page, you will receive a message asking you to check your email. Please check your email for a message from “Admin”. MAKE SURE YOU ALSO CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDERS. It may take a few minutes for the email to appear so please be patient. 6) Once you get the email, open it up. There will be a hypertext link inside. Simply click on that link and your account will be registered. 7) Click continue and you will be taken to your Moodle homepage which is currently empty since you have no courses. 8) There will be a button in the top right hand corner saying “Edit this page”. Please click on that button. 9) Now on the left side, you will see a block called “Blocks”. Click where it says “add” and choose “courses” 10) Now click “International Section” 11) The courses you have been enrolled in will appear. 12) Ask your teachers to enroll you in their classes or enroll yourself, by getting the passwords to the courses you are currently taking. Thanks for doing this! Email me if you have any problems (eproanio@fcaq.k12.ec) or ask your Technology teacher for help. This handout was prepared by Chris Cardoso on February 14, 2008
