BOARD OF DIRECTORS MINUTES
ACA Board of Directors Meeting June 21, 2021 • Chickasha, Okla.
Dunklau called the meeting to order at 8:59 a.m.
Roll Call
Board members Present: Ryan Dunklau, Segayle Foster, Tyler Winegardner, Lyle Sexton, Ken Culp, Larry Garrett, Rob Sheets, Derek Evans, Mike Stoppel, Andy Higgins, Keith Schrick.
Absent: Justin Tracy
Staff present: Stephanie Snook and Dustin Hurlburt
Officer’s Reports
Secretary Report
Foster read minutes from our February meeting and executive sessions. Garret made a motion to accept Secretary’s report and Schrick seconded. Motion passed.
Treasurer Report
Sexton gave a financial report. Net profit from Jan-April 2021 is $39,931.75 a 196% increase from Jan-April 2020.
Staff Reports:
Dustin gave a junior national report for Heather. Checked In: 18 prospect steers, 24 progress steers, 8 B&O bulls, 26 B&O Chi females, 14 B&O Chiangus, 41 Owned Chiangus, 149 Chi females, 82 Composite females.
Show order: Wednesday 8 am: steers, bulls, B&O chis, B&O Chiangus and owned Chiangus; Thursday 8 am: Owned Chi followed by Owned Composite . The Chi Junior Fundraiser 6:30 p.m. tonight.
Working Ranch Magazine contacted the ACA for list of breeders to contact for an article. Dustin passed along names of Dry Fork Ranch, Talmo Ranch & Kevin Huckabee to interview to promote Chi cattle.
Dustin and Ken met with Shike regarding the sire test and the staff is working on promotional items for the booth.
The Sire Test Field Day will be Thursday, August 19 – Friday, August, 20 in Champagne, Ill.
Registrations are currently 240 ahead of 2019. Memberships – 703 junior memberships.
Committee Reports:
LRP – Ken is proposing at the fall board meeting to breakout in committee meetings and assign them.
Sire Test Update – Field Day is August 19-20 in Champaign, Ill. Still working out details on the agenda. Dr. Weaber will fly in and discuss genetic abnormality issues.
Egg Extravaganza – Need to work on getting lots donated and a catalog put together for Louisville. Announce information during the grand drives of both shows.
Dunk asked to go into executive session at 10:30 a.m. Foster second. Sheets moved to exit executive session. Culp second.
New Business:
Cow catch up registration moratorium – Culp moved to implement a cow catch up registration moratorium from July 1 – Aug 31 at a price of $30 per head. Higgins seconded. Motion carried.
Percentages to Fractions – Sheets make the motion to convert registrations from percentages back to fractions. Schrick seconded. Motion failed 5-6.
Evans made a motion to publish the power point presentation in the journal and other media outlets and direct members to a poll on how they feel on fractions vs percentages. Stoppel seconded. Motion carries.
Low percentage show – Larry made a motion to add a composite show at OKC junior show, the NJHS and regional shows in 2022. Stoppel second. Motion carried
Premiums for Great Northern Livestock Expo in Wyoming. No action taken.
October/November board articles – Ken/ Rob collaboration article and Evans.
The board would like to commend Heather and Dustin for their great job done with the journal.
Culp made a motion to increase the Junior renewal fee from $25 to $50, with all juniors receiving a journal effective Jan. 1, 2022. Keith seconded. Motion carried.
