ACA Members – The ACA Long Range Planning Committee met in Kansas City beginning on Thursday, September 17 and concluded on Friday evening, September 18, 2020. The LRP Committee included a wide cross-section of the industry, including the following groups: nine members of the ACA Board of Directors, two members of the ACA Auxiliary, four members of the AJCA Board of Directors, past ACA Board Chairs, Chiangus, Chianina, and Italian Fullblood breeders, industry representatives, and current and former ACA staff members. Additionally, three outside experts were identified to serve and offered unique perspectives. The committee reviewed extensive data focusing on memberships (both adult and junior), registrations and transfers, and complete financial information; all of which were charted since the inception of the association. Additionally, the 2019 ACA Membership Survey was presented and shared. A combination of large and small group activities were conducted. The 29 people participating in the Long Range Planning process responded to a series of leading questions. The responses to these questions were categorized, examined, and discussed by the large group. Critical themes emerged during large group activities and were then prioritized. These themes were explored and fleshed out in small groups, resulting in the development of objectives, goals, and action steps. These were refined and assimilated into the ACA Long Range Plan. A copy of the resulting Long Range Plan follows. A series of committees (both standing and ad hoc) are being developed, each focused on executing and implementing one of the six objectives. Anyone that would like to serve on a one (or more) of these implementation committees should contact the ACA Office and indicate the objective(s) in which you are most interested. We’ll make sure that you are included. The 2020 ACA Long Range Plan should serve as a guiding light to direct and focus the work of the Association for the next five years.
