Bulletin Egg Extravaganza Embryo Auction Planned for 2022 Cattlemen’s Congress

The Promotions & Benefits Committee met in April to discuss plans for the Egg Extravaganza that was postponed from last year. It was decided that the embryo auction will take place in January 2022 during the ACA events at the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. The Egg Extravaganza Show will be in November 2023 in Louisville, Ky., in conjunction with the ACA National Show. Watch for more information on the ACA website and via social media.

2021-2022 All-American Shows Announced

The shows listed below have been designated as All-American Point Shows for the 2021-2022 show season. Points will be tallied from junior and open shows if applicable. • National Junior Heifer Show • Eastern Regional Junior Show • Western Regional Junior Show • State Fair shows open to all exhibitors • World Beef Expo • American Royal • North American International Livestock Exposition • Cattlemen’s Congress • National Western Stock Show • Ft. Worth Stock Show

Update to Show Rules Regarding DNA Collection

The ACA Board of Directors approved the following recommendation from the ACA Rules Committee at their April 2021 meeting. The new rules take effect immediately. DNA Testing at ACA Sponsored Shows 1. DNA (hair samples) shall be collected on all Grand & Reserve Grand Champions or the Top Five winners (if selected) at all ACA sponsored cattle shows. 2. The DNA shall be collected by an ACA staff members, plus two additional ACA representatives (staff and/or adult board members). 3. These DNA sample cards shall be signed by the animal’s owner (if the owner is 18 years of age or older), or the parent/guardian of the animal’s owner (if the owner is under 18 years of age), or

the representative of the animal’s owner. 4. Any protest of an animal must be made in writing and be accompanied by a $1,000 protest fee. The protest and protest fee must be made within four (4) hours of the conclusion of the championship drive. If the protest is upheld, the deposit shall be refunded. The ACA adult board shall have the final judgment of the protest, its outcome and penalties.

ACA Regional Junior Shows Announced

Regional Junior Shows will once again be held in 2021! The Eastern Regional Junior Show will be in conjunction with the Kentucky State Fair and the Western Regional Junior Show will be in conjunction with the Nebraska State Fair. All entries will be made directly with each state fair and entries must be made by their respective entry deadlines. Eastern Regional Junior Show Date: August 28, following open Chianina & Chiangus Shows Western Regional Junior Show Date: September 1, following open Chianina & Chiangus Shows.

Long Range Plan Created – Volunteers Needed

The 2021-2025 ACA Long Range Plan has been completed and we are asking members to read over the plan, find an objective they are passionate about and volunteer to help the ACA accomplish the objective. You can find the full plan included in this issue of the ACJ, as well as on the ACA website under the Membership Tab. ACA DNA Department Now Operational

ACA members may now process all DNA through the ACA. Members should contact the office to request supplies before submitting DNA through DigitalBeef. Instructions on how to submit DNA may be found on the ACA website under the Genetics/Testing tab. For more information, please contact Jennifer or Stephanie at the ACA office.
