$100,000 CHAMPION GLOVER / ROBERSTON / D&H

JULY/AUGUST 2017

LETTER FROM the

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR I’d like to start by congratulating the winners of our last two American Heritage events. Lolly Pop got it done in Duncan, Okla. to earn a $100,000 check for Glover/Robertson/D&H. On the east coast, it was Stonebreaker from Flinn and D&H who took top honors at the Archdale American Heritage event. Now that we have our biggest regular season futurity behind us, we look forward to seeing how the exciting races for the regular season prizes (and bragging rights) are shaping up. The regular season standings is also how animals get qualified for Las Vegas, so I wish everyone good luck -and checkout abbinow.com if you need to know how you rank. It’s hard to believe that another World Finals is just around the corner! One of the most highly anticipated events each year in Las Vegas is the ABBI’s Premier Sale. This is the sale where contractors can buy bulls with top-notch genetics ready to buck against the cowboys at ABBI and PBR events, as well as animals that are already established BFTS stars. This, once again, should be the one sale you don’t want to miss, with the most diverse selection of champion bloodlines available anywhere in the industry. This year we are adding another sale and event to the excitement of the Finals. The Elite Yearling Sale will feature a collection of 40 curated one-year-olds from the top breeders in our industry. At the conclusion of the sale, they will compete against each other for a $100,000 purse! We are accepting submissions starting Sept. 1 and will then be notifying those animals selected. Contact Marlissa at the office for more information and I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your best yearlings. I hope you have been having a successful summer with your bucking bulls and I hope to see you at an event soon, and at South Point in Las Vegas come October! Jay Daugherty

THE COUNTDOWN TO VEGAS IS ON! With the 2017 ABBI World Finals just around the corner, now is not only the time to think about how you can maximize your time spent in Las Vegas, but how you can maximize your programs earning potential while in Las Vegas. First off, if you don’t play- you can’t win. That may seem obvious, but if you haven’t gotten your animals qualified for Las Vegas yet then you need to take advantage of the August and September regular season events to secure a spot. Check out ABBINow.com and click the events tab to see the remaining events schedule. If you have animals you plan to compete with at Finals and some you hope to sell, then we have a new opportunity for you. ABBI’s Premier Bucking Bull Sale is typically the one “can’t miss” event for all stock contractors. This year we are excited to have added another sale and event into the mix, the Elite Yearling Sale & Futurity. The sale will consist of 40 Yearling Bulls which will be bucked immediately afterward in a Futurity. “ABBI continues to develop new opportunities for its members to buy, sell and compete with the world’s best bucking bulls,” said ABBI’s Executive Director Jay Daugherty. “We hold a Premier Bucking Bull Sale each year at Finals and a Lifetime Yearling Futurity, and we feel like this Elite Yearling Sale and Futurity will be a nice addition to those events and give our members yet another opportunity to make money with their younger bulls.” The Futurity will be exclusively for those yearlings in the sale and will be held at South Point Arena. There will be an estimated $100,000 prize purse paying 10 places as well as additional bonuses and incentives, based on how the animals do moving forward through their careers. “There is no larger gathering of ABBI stock contractors with elite caliber bulls than at our events at South Point each fall,” shared ABBI’s Executive Director Jay Daugherty. “This is the perfect opportunity for those with a standout yearling they want to sell, and for those looking to purchase one.” In addition to ABBI’s usual bucking bull events, we will also be hosting the WCBHA (World Class Bucking Horse Association) / ABHR (American Bucking Horse Registry) Finals in Las Vegas. South Point Hotel & Casino will once again be our home away from home with the majority of the events taking place at that arena.

DUNCAN AWARDS $450,000 TO BUCKING BULLS Lolly Pop Takes first for $100,000

American Bucking Bull Inc. paid out $450,000 in prize money to bucking bulls June 9-10 in Duncan, Okla. at the annual American Heritage event which was presented by Cooper Tires. Over one hundred stock contractors participated in the most highly anticipated Futurity event of the year in the bucking bull industry. The 2017 American Heritage marked the 12 year anniversary of the groundbreaking event where contractors are essentially betting on the bloodlines of their animals, since bull calves need to be entered into the program the year they are born. Traditionally held in Oklahoma, American Heritage expanded to include additional East and West coast events in 2015. This trifecta has now paid over $4.5 million dollars to competitors since the original event’s inception. “This year was our biggest American Heritage to date. Our members traveled from coast-to-coast to be in Oklahoma, so we tried to provide them with as many events as possible that they could compete at- and win money at- with their young bulls,” stated Executive Director Jay Daugherty. “We have now held two of our three 2017 American Heritage regional events and I’m proud of the success our members have had in Los Lunas (N.M.) and at Duncan. The last event will be in Archdale (N.C) which is always an outstanding event by Jerome and Tiffany Davis at their arena.” The Duncan event , the largest of the three, was held at the Stephens County Expo Arena. There were seven different competitions held over two days for the bucking bulls with the marque event being the American Heritage Futurity which had over 180 entries. “I am so proud of the entire team who works tirelessly to make the American Heritage a success each and every year,” said TwoBulls Group’s Jim McLain, the event’s producer. “This is the third year of holding the event here and the ABBI is committed to bringing this event to Duncan through 2018. The support of the Duncan Convention Visitors Bureau, the Stephens County Commissioners and the City of Duncan have made this fantastic partnership possible.” The top American Heritage bucking bull was Lolly Pop from Glover, Robertson and D&H whose 91.67

earned him $100,000 for first place. In second with a score of 90 was Cattle Empire’s The Cartel who earned $53,700. Page 16C took third with an 89.83 and earned nearly $31,000 for his owners OK Corralis, Gordon and D&H.
