REFLECTIONS FROM AMC’S BOARD CHAIR
As we move through 2025, Canada’s agricultural manufacturing sector stands at a pivotal crossroads of opportunity and transformation. Global trade continues to shape our industry’s landscape, presenting both new prospects and complex challenges. Navigating the evolving realities of tariffs and cross-border commerce—particularly with our closest trading partner, the United States –remains a top priority. Through it all, AMC is your unwavering advocate, working to ensure that Canadian manufacturers have a fair, competitive, and reliable environment in which to grow and thrive.
In an increasingly global marketplace, AMC’s International Business Program continues to break new ground. Our upcoming debut at Agritechnica 2025 in Hanover, Germany, through the AMC Pavilion, will spotlight Canadian excellence on the world stage. It’s more than a tradeshow presence—it’s a strategic investment in building international relationships, showcasing our capabilities, and expanding the reach of Canadian innovation to global buyers and partners.
That same spirit of connection and progress was alive and well at our 2024 AMC Expo and Trade Show this past November in Etobicoke, Ontario. Hosted at Humber Polytechnic’s Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation, this event brought together our industry’s best and brightest—manufacturers, educators, students, and thought leaders. From forward-thinking sessions on AI and data security to our annual Hackathon and networking at E-Zone, the Expo was a reminder of what’s possible when collaboration and curiosity lead the way.
Looking ahead, I encourage you to join us for GRIT: AMC’s Annual Convention, happening June 4–5, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta. GRIT is more than a gathering—it’s a call to action. It reflects the tenacity and courage that fuel our sector and challenges us to keep pushing boundaries, sharing knowledge, and supporting one another through change.
Developing a skilled and engaged workforce is just as essential to our long-term success as trade policy or global markets. That’s why I’m proud of the momentum behind Careers in Ag. With the launch of our Mobile Skills Lab, we’ve reached hundreds of students across Canada, giving them firsthand exposure to the technologies, tools, and career opportunities that define modern agricultural manufacturing. It’s an investment in the next generation, and one that will pay dividends for years to come.
I want to thank each of you for your contributions, leadership, and commitment to excellence. The road ahead is filled with potential—and together, through trade, talent, and tenacity—we’ll continue to grow Canada’s position as a global leader in agricultural manufacturing.
