WELCOME TO QUARTER 4

Welcome to our fourth and final newsletter publication of the year 2022. We are delighted to share our activities for the period between October and December Our aim remains to serve our members while increasing our value proposition We have achieved this through various initiatives and activities centered on our five pillars

The Chamber successfully hosted our final flagship event which is the annual Thanksgiving Dinner The Chamber also signed an MoU with the Ndola Chamber of Commerce and Industry in line with our 2023 strategic plan as we continue to strengthen our engagements through all the pillars.

Secretariat had the priviledge to host the DFC representatives in a special meeting where AmCham members learned about access to financing and business opportunities available through the DFC

In line with the networking pillar, the Chamber held a membership engagement event in collaboration with Africa Works, a member of the American Chamber. We will continue to call upon members to jointly host events in partnership with AmCham to increase their visibility and to maximize the B2B engagments

The Chamber also held a closed-door meeting where all AmCham board members and the new Ambassador to Zambia, Mr Michael Gonzales discussed matters pertaining to the Chamber and its future, economic and regulatory reforms as well as the ways in which corruption can be fully combated

Finally, we would like to thank you our members for your support, engagement, and participation throughout the quarter and the year We look forward to another successful year with you I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year

CHAMBER ACTIVITIES DURING THE QUARTER

DFC MEMBER ENGAGEMENT

The American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia hosted the representatives from the U S International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) in a special meeting where all AmCham members had an opportunity to delve into dealoriented discussions.

The meeting was held at Latitude 15 Hotel in Kabulonga on Thursday, 20th of October, 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm

The DFC is America’s development bank and partners with the private sector to finance solutions to the most critical challenges facing the developing world today.

This meeting presented opportunities for AmCham members in sectors such as food security/ agriculture, financial inclusion, critical infrastructure, energy, and ICT to collaborate with the DFC AmCham would like to thank the members present at this meeting

AMCHAM SIGNS MOU WITH NDOLA CHAMBER

On Wednesday 2nd November 2022, the U.S Ambassador, His Excellency Mr. Michael Gonzalez on behalf of The American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ndola Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The MoU is a platform that will support AmCham’s Pillars in sustaining its goals.

Among other things, this MoU will seek to jointly collaborate as strategic partners to establish and sustain intellectual capacity for research and policy analysis in business and the economy It will also create a platform for regular dialogue to discuss areas of mutual benefit.

AmCham will continue to develop such relationships in order to improve the business climate

We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Ndola & District Chamber of Commerce as we work towards facilitating trade and investment

MEMBER ENGAGMENT EVENT

During the quarter under review, Africa Works, a member of the Chamber successfully hosted a Cocktail event tagged "My Work Space" on Thursday, 13th of October from 6 pm to 8 pm at Bishops Office Park along Bishop road opposite Central Mall The event was attended by AmCham president Lowani Chibesakunda and various attendees from over 20 organizations within and outside the membership.

In his remarks, Mr Abdul Hoosain, Africa Works managing director for Southern Africa said the cocktail was meant to give the attendees firsthand experience of the product and services being offered by their organization in an atmosphere of networking.

Membership engagement events are in line with our networking and business linkages pillars where members host events with help from the chamber.

2022 AMCHAM THANKSGIVING DINNER

The American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia held its annual Thanksgiving Dinner on the 10th of November, 2022 at the InterContinental Hotel in Lusaka. This event is in line with our networking and business linkages pillars which we strive to provide for our members.

This year ' s Thanksgiving dinner attracted over 300 guests from various industryleading organizations, high-ranking Government officials, and the U S Embassy who came together to celebrate milestones in an atmosphere of networking as we crowned the business year

The Chamber wishes to appreciate all sponsors who came on board to make this event a success, these are ranging from the platinum to the table sponsorship tier.

We look forward to hosting another successful Thanksgiving Dinner next year.
