THROUGH DEC. 26 Located in Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth, Bentleyville “Tour of Lights” invites guests to stroll under the glow of over 4 million lights, while enjoying complimentary hot cocoa, cookies, popcorn and roasted marshmallows. Get your photo taken with Rudolph and visit with Santa; available nightly from 5-8 p.m. (kids 10 and under will receive a new knit hat). Mrs. Claus will also be at Bentleyville to tell stories and hand out candy canes. Bentleyville is free (donations appreciated) and opens at 5 p.m. daily. bentleyvilleusa.org

DEC. 1, SATURDAY The Salvation Army’s Santa Shuffle will be held at 10 a.m. at the Current River Recreation Centre in Thunder Bay. This fun, family-friendly event includes a 1k Elf Walk and a 5k Santa Shuffle Run/Walk. Many participants come dressed in festive attire in everything from Santa hats to Santa and his sleigh. All participants receive a medal and prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers and the most festively dressed. After the race, a light lunch of soup will be served and Santa will make an appearance. All funds raised by this event stay in Thunder Bay and support the services provided by the Salvation Army. santashuffle.ca

HOLIDAY ART UNDERGROUND

THRU DEC. 29 Besty Bowen Studio in Grand Marais presents the annual Holiday Art Underground show, featuring a multitude of local and regional art and crafts, as well as treats, music and more. An open house will be held Friday, Nov. 30 from 5-7 p.m. and continue to Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Holiday music will be provided by Briand Morrison and Roxann Berglund. This year’s artists include Heidi Sobanja, Jerry Riach, Jim Sannerud, Tom McCann, Nancy Haarmeyer, Stephan Hoglund, and many others, featuring everything from woodworking and pottery, to jewelry and paintings. woodcut.com

Or head inside Mocha Moose for a special Swedish menu, featuring Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, leek and lamb stew, and cranberry soda bread, as well as a woodland creatures cookie basket, Swedish almond

tea cakes, and other baked goods for sale. There will also be holiday music and local art for sale. Proceeds from the cookie basket will go to Second Harvest. Silversmith Brad Nelson’s shop, BE Nelson Designs, will be in full holiday mode, featuring ornaments, silver jewelry, and Scandinavian and European gifts. The Larsmont Little Red Schoolhouse will also have local art and crafts for sale. Julbocken will take place from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.

DEC. 1, SATURDAY The annual Northwoods Fiber Guild Holiday Sale and Open House will take place Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Grand Marais Art Colony, featuring high quality, hand-made clothing and gifts. Held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., there will be tasty treats and refreshments, as well as needle-felting, spinning and weaving demonstrations. You can also learn a fiber craft at the hands-on table.
