Two Great Events to Promote Your Business The best events for business-to-business marketing are coming up soon. Spring Mega Market is right around the corner on Thursday, March 22nd at the Amarillo Country Club. Space is limited for this event, so don’t miss out on reserving your seat now. This is a fun, fast-paced event where you will sit face-to-face with other business professionals and each take turns telling about your business in about 2 minutes. You’ll rotate tables throughout the day, and leave with 60-70 contacts to be your customer or referral for your business down the road. It’s just $60 / person and includes lunch and a reception at the end of the day. Special thanks to these sponsors so far: Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, Amarillo Country Club, the Amarillo Club, My Place Hotels, and NTS Communications. For more information about this event or to register online, visit http://www.amarillo-chamber.org/mega-market.html. On May 17th the Civic Center Complex will be jam-packed with 350+ booths/businesses showing off the latest in their products and services at the 26th Annual BusinessConnection® Tradeshow. Last year’s exhibitors have a limited amount of time to claim their booth space for this year before it is opened to the rest of our membership. So if you participated last year, don’t wait to reserve your spot again. If you are new to the show, be sure to let Jason know you want in the show! Booth spaces are 10’x10’ and start at just $275. More than 4,000 people will make their way through the show that day, so it is a great event for having lots of people learn about your business. Special thanks to these Gold Sponsors so far: AGN Media, Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, Amarillo National Bank, the City of Amarillo, and Conquer the Day. Thanks to these Silver Sponsors: 1-800-Plumber + Air, America Celebrate Honor & Serve, Bell, Betenbough Homes, Double U Marketing, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas, Happy State Bank, IdeaCom of Amarillo, Southwest Airlines, and Zip Print. What To Do During Spring Break? By: Eric Miller, CVC Director of Communications eric@visitamarillo.com

We spend so much time answering the question “What is there to do in Amarillo?” Frequently, we wonder if we are talking to ourselves. But here is a reliable third-party source to help you. The March/April issue of AAA Texas Journey is just out and it includes one person’s idea of a perfect day in Amarillo. Written by Austin freelance writer Cynthia Drake, herself a mom with a family, it breaks out an itinerary that would please anyone. Highlighted are Cadillac Ranch, Sisemore’s RV Museum, Route 66 and the San Jacinto neighborhood, Lile Art Gallery, Goldenlight Café, Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, the Big Texan and the Esquire Jazz Club. Of course, she also recommends Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which always sees an increase in visitation during Spring Break. Remember you’ll need lots of water and sunscreen. Want a pdf copy of the Texas Journey article? Let the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council know. We will be happy to share. Nothing catch your eye? Don’t forget last month’s Texas Highways feature by Amarilloan Jason Boyett. It’s still easy to find online at http://texashighways.com/travel/item/8798-trustus-there-s-more-than-big-steaks-and-buried-caddys-in-amarillo. Still nothing? Go to the Texas Travel Information Center at exit 76 on I-40 East and ask one of the trained staff about what’s up in and around the Panhandle. Daphne, Peggy, Annette, Kathy and Rebecca know the bottom line both here and across the state. Ask them for a copy of the 2018 Texas Travel Guide- it has Palo Duro Canyon State Park on the cover. Or call them at 806-335-1441. That’s all in addition to the Amarillo CVC’s web site and calendar of events at https://www.visitamarillo.com/things-to-do/events/.

36th Annual Golden Nail Awards Gets A Re-Boot The arts community is alive and thriving in Amarillo and the Texas panhandle, and the Golden Nail Awards has long been a celebration of those who donate of their time, resources and talents to enhancing the arts of our area. The CVC’s Arts Committee is giving this event a makeover that is sure to bring a new energy to downtown on Thursday, April 12th. No longer a formal, sit-down dinner, think of this as being more of an awards show. The Amarillo Little Theatre’s Jason Crespin will serve as the event emcee as the event finds its new home in the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. They will utilize the beautiful performance hall for the awards, and then flow out to the rest of the 3-level lobby to showcase local art entities and serve up heavy hors d’Oeuvres by award-winning Chef Rocky Dunnam of Nineteen49 Catering after the awards have been presented. Everyone will enjoy music from The Martinis throughout the night. Invitations are going out soon and reservations can be made through the Chamber’s website starting March 6th at www.amarillo-chamber.org/golden-nail-awards.html. Tickets will be $45 per person. For more information, contact Kashion Smith at 342-2023 or email Kashion@visitamarillo.com.

Congratulations to this Recent Prime Service Award Winner Members of the CVC’s Convention & Tourism Committee as well as other Chamber volunteers drop in on businesses to deliver AMA Prime Service lapel pins to employees who provided someone with PRIME customer service. Editor’s Corner

By: Penni Bentley, Senior Communications Director

Direct: 806.342.2005 Cell: 806.674.7334 penni@amarillo-chamber.org Have you ever taken a selfie that paid off in a really cool way? Some of our staff attended the ProSource of Amarillo ribbon cutting and grand opening party last summer. They had food and music and a backdrop for taking selfies. They told everyone to take a selfie and use some specific hashtags for a chance to win a custom rug. Well of course we can never pass up the chance to be cheesy, so Mary, Christy and myself posed and smiled and posted to the Chamber Instagram page. Soon after, ProSource owner Dusty Doyle gave us the news that we had won the grand prize...a custom Mohawk rug! If you’ve been inside the Chamber building, the large rug in the entry way has been with the house for many, many years. The normal wear and tear had it not looking its best, and it has been known to trip a person or two with fraying fringe. Dusty helped us pick out a pattern that would still enhance the beautiful old home décor, but in a fresher, cleaner, less-hazardous way. Below is our new selfie in front of the beautiful Mohawk rug given to the Chamber by ProSource Wholesale. Come see it for yourself next time you are downtown. It’s super soft and so beautiful! It even felt great to lay on to try to get a photo or two. Although most of those photos laying flat made us look terrible, so a couple of great assistants (Denise, Beth & Chanette) held up the rug as a backdrop instead! Thanks, Dusty, for making the Chamber lobby look so good! As always, tell us how we are doing. Give us your suggestions, feedback, and input. Feel free to write on our Facebook wall. Get involved. We are proud to be YOUR Chamber.

We’re on Mix 94.1 every Tuesday at 8:40am to talk about the week's events, conventions & newest members. It’s the most jam-packed three-minute segment. If you miss it live, you can always check out the video recap with more information on our YouTube Channel, Facebook page or on the Week’s Sneak Peek page on our website.

We recently interviewed some great Chamber members about their organizations in our Facebook “Meet the Member” live videos. This is a great way to learn more about the people behind the companies or non-profit organizations that are part of our community.
