Inspiration- 2

Handmade Mugs

My idea for this project is to create at least 20 pinch pots and attach small handles to each one.

Process- 3

The first step is to create pinch pots in mug shapes.

Once the mug shapes are formed it is time to attach the handles. I then have to wait until the mugs are bone dry before they get their first firing.

After the first firing I get to glaze the mugs.

Once they are glazed they get fired for the last time.

Outcome- 4

I was able to make 20 handmade mugs for this project. They really came to life after the last firing and each design made them unique

Inspiration- 5

Wheel-Thrown Vases

For this project my goal was to create different shaped vases on the wheel.

Process- 6

My first step is to wedge about a pound and a half of clay and slap it on the center of the wheel. I can now throw my shape.

Once I have vases thrown I can wire off the bottom and remove from the bat. Once they are bone dry I can fire them for the first time.

I first dipped in clear glaze to make sure the vases would turn out glossy. Once they are all dipped I drew on designs with a pencil. I then go in with colored glaze on top. They are now ready for their last firing.

In the end I made six different vases. They are each different sizes and have unique glaze patterns.

ClaybyAlyJ Logo

I wanted to revamp my old logo for my small business where I sell handmade pottery.

Process- 9

My first step was to sketch out my rough idea on my iPad using Procreate.

I then gathered more design elements that could make my logo stand out against others.

I was then able to merge my ideas together. At this step I also chose my font.

After it all came together my logo looked more professional. Adding the pottery told people what my brand was.
