Thank you so much for allowing me to capture beautiful imagery for your family. Photography has been a huge passion of mine and I love capturing the special moments in life. My style of photography is very natural and relaxed. I am both a studio and natural light photographer. Please read through this information to learn about what to expect when you have a session with me! I look forward to meeting you and your beautiful family ~ Alyce

what to expect The average newborn session can take up to three hours – I don’t place any time limits on the session. It sounds like such a long time, but it seems to fly past! This allows for plenty of time for feeding, nappy changes and rests so we get those gorgeous sleepy poses. If things aren’t going to plan, we can always reschedule for another day. Your baby’s safety is of utmost importance. I do not use props or poses that put your baby at risk of harm. All blankets, wraps etc. that are used during newborn sessions are washed after use to ensure they are safe and hygienic for your baby. If at any time you feel uneasy about a specific pose please let me know. Of course your new baby will be the star of the session, but parents and older siblings are welcome to join in for a few shots too. When it comes to children and babies, patience is the key to capturing perfect images, so I guarantee you’ll never feel rushed during your session. I am extremely patient so I’m happy to work within your routine as much as possible. I completely understand that babies need feeding and cuddling, toddlers need the freedom and older kids need the chance to warm up to a new person. I promise your child’s meltdown, accidents or temper tantrums won’t faze me at all, and I’ll happily just go with the flow.

what to bring I always suggest bringing any props that have special meaning, or at least belong to your family. Using your own things helps to create a far greater connection to your photographs and this becomes even more important as the years go by. Adored teddies, favourite storybooks, beloved dollies or toy trucks are all wonderful things to include in your portraits. Even old toys belonging to parents or grandparents make it extra special! I also have an abundance of props, wraps, beanies, headbands and the like that will be used during your session also. If you are using a pacifier, please bring this along as this will help with settling.

what to wear Newborns are generally photographed in the nude, so you won’t need to bring any specific clothes for them – unless you have something specific you’d like a photo of them in. For family members, I suggest wearing either a white/black plain coloured top if you like the typical ‘studio’ look. Or, you can wear normal clothes as long as you avoid bold colours, logos. Make sure you try everything on prior to your session to make sure you all don’t clash!

your images Your images will be beautifully edited and ready within two to three weeks after you session. As soon as it’s ready, I’ll email you so you can either collect or I can pop them in the mail. You can then relax and enjoy browsing through your images at your own leisure. If you are after canvas or prints, I can send you information on print packages – just let me know.

locations

Studio sessions are held at my home studio, which is at 20 Mackay Street, Lakes Creek. I am completely flexible and if travelling isn’t something you are up for doing, I can come to you. As long as you have a nice big window/glass door, I can bring my ‘studio’ to you. Alternatively, we can arrange an outdoor session at a location of your choice.
