House system
The House System at Alton School contributes to a strong sense of belonging and provides the opportunity for pupils to work with those in other year groups. All pupils belong to one of our houses.
The Houses have a vital role to play in our activities and charity programme including fundraising events, sport house matches, drama day, stalls at our annual fayres and much more. They also connect pupils across all year groups from Reception to Sixth Form enabling our oldest pupils in the School to know and interact with the youngest.

Each House has a House Captain who is responsible for coordinating events. They are supported by a staff member in the role of Head of House. All pupils are encouraged to play an active part in the school community, learning to co-operate and form relationships with others.
Our Sixth Form students have the opportunity to take on the role of House Captain; leading House events and working closely with their House to build House spirit.
Roles of Responsibility
In the Sixth Form, students are given various roles of responsibility such as being house captains in the Lower Sixth. Additionally, Upper Sixth students can apply to be president and vice president which is the highest level of responsibility in the entire school. These roles provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and contribute to the school community.
