Alpert JCC Program Guide

The Women’s Weekend Experience When it came time for my first Women’s Weekend experience, I must admit that I was really hesitant and excited at the same time. I did not know what to expect. I knew that a bunch of women of all different ages were going to be coming together to celebrate being Jewish. I had to stop and think, what exactly did that mean for me? I honestly did not have an answer, but I hoped to have one at the end of the weekend though. When I got there, I could not believe my eyes. All these women were together, just hanging out, talking, it was a beautiful sight. I was still a little nervous because I did not know what to expect, but I went over and joined in. My experience that weekend changed my outlook on Judaism and my spirituality. I spent the entire weekend surrounded by a wonderful group of women who did not judge your level of Judaism or spirituality, in fact they just embraced the fact that you were there. The relationships and bonds that form from the weekend are ones that are only strengthened every time there is another weekend. Being in nature and being able to be in tune with who you are is just another added benefit of the Women’s Weekend. I love the fact that even though I was not the most religious person there, I was still able to enjoy and participate in the religious aspects of the weekend. I felt in touch with everything that was going on. While I still did not find out the answer to my question, it only left me hungry for the answer, so every time there is a Women’s Weekend, I come back for more. Alexis Erlbaum

Preschool Tzedakah

All classes meet 1–2:30pm

Mrs. Weinberg’s Pre-Kindergarten children, at the Alpert JCC, believe in helping others. They learned this from Pirkei Avot chapter 2, mishna 5, where Hillel says: “Do not separate yourself from the community”. To them community meant their family, their neighbors where they live, their JCC friends, and the entire world.

Chaverim Connection

Last fall they brought tzedakah to support all the families involved in Heifer International, a world hunger org, and the Alpert JCC scholarship fund. For their spring tzedakah the children decided to bring it closer to home. A classmate had been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. They chose to raise money to find a cure for this disease that commonly affects young children. They deserve a rousing ‘Todah Rabah’.

Girls & Boys entering 5th-9th grade Whether you are a beginner or you have volleyball experience, this great program is just right for you. Our experienced coaches will focus on skill development, rules of the game, strategy, and sportsmanship.
