Looking for a great job? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the perfect place to start. Lifeguarding is an exciting position where you work as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. You could save a life too!

Prerequisites: Be able to swim 550 yards continuously using front crawl and breaststroke, tread water 2 minutes, retrieve a diving brick under 1 minute and 40 seconds, and swim underwater 15 yards.

Gymnastics is a great way to get exercise, learn skills, and have fun for boys and girls alike. Our coaches are experienced and well trained. This is a great sport to teach self- discipline, agility, and movement skills used in other sports. Our classes are designed to have a 8 to 1 ratio giving your child the opportunity to excel. BOWHUNTER EDUCATION CLASS March 4

Certified NBF Instructor, Bill Jackson, will teach this 10 - hour course. Course includes online classroom work including bow hunter responsibility, safety, game laws, survival, and First Aid. Class also includes hands on instruction on proper equipment, shooting instruction, and bow hunting techniques, such as stalking, blood trailing, field dressing, care of meat, scouting, and practice. Many other states now require Bow Hunter Education Certification.

Age: 11 yrs min. thru Adults Time: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

Location: BEAR Community Center Fee: $10

Registration Deadline: Feb 27 A minimum of 5 is required to hold the class maximum of 18.

FIREARMS PERMITTED IN THE RANGE

Pistols and Revolvers .45 caliber or less Rifles .22 caliber rim fire or smaller (no FN 5.7mm, 17HMR or .17 caliber)

A Range Supervisor must be present in the range. Ear and eye protection is required and will be provided, if needed - (1st come, 1st serve) No one under 11 years of age is permitted in the Archery Range without proper parent or adult supervision.

Anyone 15 years or younger must be accompanied and supervised in the Firearms Range by a responsible parent or adult.

Anyone 16 to 18 years of age, not accompanied by a parent or adult in the Firearms Range, must complete a Hunter Safety course and present a card, if requested. All firearms must be unloaded. All firearms and ammunition must be in a carrying case or bag when entering or leaving the recreation center. Holsters are not considered a carrying case. No firearms or ammunition shall be left unattended or stored in the lobby, gym, locker room or any other area of the recreation center. All firearms, ammunition, bows, and arrows must be stored outside the recreation center before and after using the shooting range. The Evanston Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen firearms, ammunition, carrying cases, bows, arrows, or any archery or firearms equipment.

YURT RESERVATIONS

Ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile the back country and stay overnight in one of our yurts. Facilities can accommodate groups of 8 or less. The Evanston Recreation Center accepts reservations for the Bear Claw, Lily Lake, Ridge, East Fork Yurts, Beulah Vista, and Boundary Creek Yurt. BRORA XC SKI DAY AND CITIZEN RACE

Meet at Purple Sage Nordic Center. Free Ski rentals and equipment will be available from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Free hot beverages and donuts will be provided. Come have fun and become addicted to a great winter activity. For those that already love the sport the CITIZENS RACE will be held starting at 1:00 pm. The race categories will be under 10, 11 - 15, 16 - 20, 21 - 45, and 45+. Prizes will be awarded to first place men and women.

Meet at the Warming Hut shortly after sunset for a Valentines celebration. Hot drinks and snacks will be served.

BRORA BASH March 18

Help celebrate 30+ yrs of trail grooming for Nordic skiing on the North Slope of the High Uintas. As in past years the food will be great, the people warm and friendly, and the weather a surprise. Hot beverages, muffins, etc. at Warming Hut at 10:00 am. Lunch at East Fork Yurt 12:00 pm.

BRORA is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to assist and cooperate with Local, State, and Federal Governments in promoting, developing, and maintaining outdoor recreation within the City of Evanston, Uinta County, and the North Slope of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest including Nordic skiing, mountain biking, hiking, river and equestrian use of these areas. Yurt reservation fees and membership fees are used to provide XC ski trail grooming and track setting, purchasing, maintaining, and supplying the yurts, avalanche awareness and education, and a member newsletter.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

Register in person at the Recreation Center, by phone or online @ evanstonparksandrec.org. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis or until class/ activities are filled. If a class or activity is cancelled, participants may be asked to sign up for another class or a full refund or credit will be issued. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS will be given unless a class or activity is cancelled. The Recreation Division Manager may consider special requests. Credits must be used within one year from the date they are issued. Refunds are processed monthly and mailed once a voucher is signed.

PARKS AND REC DISTRICT BOARD MEETINGS

The Evanston Parks and Recreation District Board Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Evanston Recreation Center. The public is welcome to attend. Please call (307) 789 -1770 to confirm specific meetings days and times as some monthly meetings are subject to change.
