IN MEMORIAM Jeanne L. Fleury, 69; Mother Of Former Councilman Chip Holmes

ONEONTA – Jeanne Louise Fleury, 69, Nanuet, Rockland County, mother of former Oneonta Common Council member Chip Holmes, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, after a long illness. Jeanne grew up in Andes, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Anne Fleury. She formerly lived in Oneonta. In addition to her son and his wife Stephanie, she is survived by daughter Stephanie (Eric) Baumes of Nyack; three grandchildren, Sophia Baumes, and Porter and Beckett Holmes. Also, sisters Carol (Bill) Bachman of Lew Beach, also in Rockland County, and

Loretta (Earl) Hebbard of Delhi, and Chris (David) Abarca of Hudson, Fla.; brothers, Richard (Karen) Fleury of West Oneonta and Stephen Fleury of Strafford, Fulton County, and many nieces and nephews including a very special niece Noralina Fleury. There will be no calling hours. A private family service will be at a later date. Allan R. Beach; Former Oneonta Town Supervisor ONEONTA – Allan Rich Beach, 91, a former fire chief and founding member of the West Oneonta Fire Department passed away October 1, 2016 at Manor Care in Lebanon, Penn. He was born March 3, 1925 in Hobart, the son of Ethel Eliza Rich and Almeron Allan Beach. He graduated from South Kortright Central School. He was a founding member of the West Oneonta Fire Department and Chief for nine years, Otsego County Fire Coordinator and Firematics Instructor, and Town of Oneonta Tax Assessor and Supervisor in the late 1960s. He also served as Lay Leader and Lay Speaker for 25 years at Elm Park United Methodist Church, He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elfreda Watts Coss Beach, who he met in Glasgow, Scotland while he was stationed with the U. S. Navy Medical Corps during WWII. Allan is also survived by his children Moira Beach, Oneonta; Scott Beach (and wife, Joyce), Meredith; Eleanor Savage (and husband, Greg), Cleveland, OH; and Susan Hawley, Oneonta; two sisters Ruth (and husband, Arnold) Dibble and Margaret Grant, Hobart. He had seven grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren. A service in Celebration of Allan’s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Elm Park United Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut Street, Oneonta. A Masonic ceremony will be part of the service Interment, with military honors, will take place at a later date in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.

Kyle G. Burch, 31; Worked At SUNY, Performed In Orpheus Theatre Shows ONEONTA – Kyle G. Burch, 31, a fixture of the Orpheus Theatre stage, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016. He was at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, battling Leukemia and passed peacefully with loved ones by his side. Kyle was born June 6, 1985 in North Charleston, SC, the son of Robert O’Neal Burch Sr. and Linda A. (Sockey) Burch. Kyle and his family moved to Otego, NY when he was in the second grade and attended St. Mary’s School. His first role was Orpheus’ production of “The Christmas Carol” and he played Young Scrooge. With this role, he realized his passion and went onto receive a Bachelors degree in Theatre from SUNY Oneonta. During college, there was a major, personal turning point in Kyle’s life. His performance in “Misfits Are Monsters Too” led the once shy, quiet Kyle to evolve into a fun-loving, outgoing young man. His brothers and sisters at Alpha Psi Omega fraternity should also be given credit for helping Kyle come out of his shell. They gave him the fraternity name “Cellophane.” During college, he met the love of his life, Amber Benedict. She was also involved in theatre. They began dating in 2010 and spent the next 6 years side by side.

They lived in New York City, followed by Albany, surrounded by friends wherever they went. He popped the Kyle Burch question in March of 2015. Shortly after, they purchased a house, following their hearts in moving back to their childhood area, Oneonta. Here, Kyle found his calling in higher education and was thrilled to accept the position in the Student Accounts Department at SUNY Oneonta. On October 1, 2016, Kyle and Amber were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oneonta. Kyle continued to pursue his love of theatre with further Orpheus shows, but was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Amber Burch of Oneonta; his parents, Robert and Linda Burch of Otego; his siblings, Lynn Speenburgh, Robert O. Burch Jr., Sean (JoAnne) Burch, Erin (Greg) Hayden, Tara (Ray) LeBourveau, Corey (Jamie) Burch, Dane (Shannon) Burch, Deidra (Kevin) Kopacki, Sheila (Aleks) Andreic, Bridgette (Adam) Grosek, Sarah (Brandon)

Fudala, Damien Burch, Kayla Burch and Justin Burch; his Nana, Virginia Burch; 29 nieces and nephews, 2 greatnephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; his father-in-law, Scott Benedict; mother-inlaw, Lisa (Jeff) Held; sisterin-law, Kali Benedict; and his dog, Tobie. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Eli William and Joan Sockey and Robert H. Burch; his aunt, Amy Byram; a cousin, Sam Byram; and his dog, Mollie. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Emmons. There will be at time for visitation following the services at a reception which will be announced the day of the service. Jacqueline M. Gallucci, 74; She Taught 35 Years At Greater Plains Elementary

ONEONTA – Jacqueline Marie Gallucci, a teacher at Greater Plains School for 35 years, passed away on Oct. 27, 2016. She was born on March 14, 1942, in Flushing, the daughter of John J. LaSalle and Helen Edith Psarudakis. She married John E. Gallucci of Oneonta on June 27, 1964. Jacci spent her childhood living on Long Island and attended Hicksville High School. She then came to SUNY Oneonta in 1959, earning bachelor and master’s degrees in education. Jacci taught one year of elementary school in West Babylon, then began a 35year career with the Oneonta City School District as an elementary teacher at Greater Plains School, retiring in July 1999. She was an active mem-

ber of St. Mary’s Church. As a teacher, she started the G.P.S Drama Club, WHRC, State & Country Reports and was co-adviser of the Safety Patrol. She chaperoned Washington D.C. trips for many years, embracing the opportunity to share her love of American history with students. Survivors include her son, John P. (Marcia) Gallucci, and grandchildren, Anthony J., Nicholas A. and Holdyn J. Gallucci, of Oneonta; and daughter Helyn L. Gallucci and her companion David S. Erbe, of Hilton Head Island, formerly of Oneonta; a brother, Richard LaSalle and his wife Cindy; brother in-laws, Frank Gallucci and his wife Aida and Arthur Gallucci and his wife Antoinette, and three special friends, Sue McDonough, Lenore Foster and Jeanette

ONEONTA – Pauline “Polly” Ellen Lasher Cole, 86, longtime Town of Maryland tax collector who wrote a community news column for the former Worcester Times, passed away Oct. 25, 2016, at Fox Nursing Home. She was born March 6, 1930 in Oneonta, the daughter of Smith and Evelyn (Masker) Lasher. Polly married Richard Cole on Oct. 16, 1948, at the Portlandville Methodist Church. Polly worked for the Town of Maryland as the tax collector for many years;

also the Puritan Clothing Store in Oneonta, Jamaica Dream Farm in Maryland, and wrote The Community News for the Worcester Times. She is survived by her sons, William Z. (Ruth) Cole of Willow Springs, NC, Jack R. (Suzanne) Cole of Oneonta and Hulls Cove, ME, and Brian S. (Shell) Cole of Maryland; seven grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, Nate and Robbie Cole, William, Anna and James Fowler, Madeline Magnin, Lily Cole, and the

eighth baby due in January; her brother, John Henry (Rita) Lasher of Levittown; several nieces and nephews; and her “guardian angel” Sherlock. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard and a sister, Geraldine Utter. A service was held Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, with the Rev. Waylen Bray, pastor of the Stamford Baptist Church, officiating. Internment was in the Maryland Cemetery.
