Publisher’s Letter...

Welcome! D

EAR READERS OF THE FIRST ISSUE OF ALL O E ERA MAGAZINE Here it is, just days before the deadline for publication and I have been asked by Editor-in-Chief Teena Clipston to present a Welcome Message and a photo of myself. I must admit I am daunted by the idea of writing something so pivotal as an introduction to All One Era.

Stephen Cipes Winner of the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the man at “Canada's most visited winery” seems more a spiritual visionary than a Wall Street hard-nose. When Stephen Cipes first visited the Okanagan in 1986, the New York developer believed he'd found unique conditions to produce “intensely flavoured small grapes”—the perfect base for sparkling wine. Cipes brought grape clones from France and personally planted them on his hands and knees. Summerhill follows organic growing practices. No herbicides or pesticides “keeps the lake clean and our grapes don't taste from the chemicals,” says Cipes. “These grapes are happy guys. They're flourishing. Our wines are allowing nature to speak for herself.” Summerhill wines are regularly honoured in international competitions. “We won the gold medal in Champagne, France,” he beams, “against French Champagne. Philosophy of Business: “We love to be hosts. We want people to feel genuinely welcome in our home,” he says. “I try to empower my employees to exude that love. That's ideal for what we do here. We're welcoming people from around the world.” Cipes promotes from within and believes in being up-front. “I'm there for people,” he says. “I take phone calls. I put my money where my mouth is. I own the business in my own name and I put my name on the product.”

Page 4

Philosophy of Life: “Be whole unto yourself at all times,” the winemaker advises. “Allow your grand self to come through in your regular self.” Accomplishments: “My four sons are accomplished, fun-loving, warm-hearted people. That's the best thing a dad could have.” Advice for Entrepreneurs: “You can't focus on the monetary or material result. Be a conduit and allow your vision, your dream to come through and fortify it every day.” How? “By taking every possible step to achieve your goal—like making sure there is toilet paper in the washrooms, the music is playing, the bottles are dusted, and the chef has had his hug. “Today, this exact formula is used for everything I do, from being the Proprietor of our bustling organic winery and bistro to writing the All One Era manuscript and magazine, to working with children everyday. I set forth my vision to relax my ego self and be a conduit of Spirit, only speaking and acting from my heart. I consciously seek this state each and every day from the essence of my being. The intention to be open to being Guided and to acknowledge the actual Guidance, is a blessing that I wish to share with all the world for it is indeed, our most precious and magnificent gift… it is our oneness, our grand purpose and our eternal love. With love and abundance to all and cheers with an organic beverage!”

This time is perhaps the highest calling in the history of humanity. I would feel so blessed to be able to portray this prophecy of all prophecies in ways that we all “get it” easily and can joyfully catapult it. I now surrender my ego self and take deep breaths and allow Spirit to flow through me… to be a conduit allowing ever-present universal consciousness to surround me and Guide me.

If ever there were a time for the Second Coming, also known as The Messianic Age, this is it and it is us. We are Divine Beings, all one forever beings, whose time is NOW for love… the love that surrounds us at all times as we lift the veil and open our feminine receiving chromosomes. Women are richly blessed with XX and, although it’s a little harder, we men with our XY chromosomes can do it too!

I wish to speak one to one, as an ambassador for the grandest platform we humans and all of nature could ever embrace: our Knowingness of who we are. I speak to you casually as a long lost friend, an uncle or brother or dad, a kid of seven in a body of 70, an entrepreneur who has loved the world as his family since being orphaned in the seventh grade, a person who shares a life of extreme triumphs as inspiration so we can all achieve colossal triumphs and enjoy abundance and total joy. I come to demonstrate that our greatest fear is the fear of our own grandness, and that there are none in the entire universe greater than we are and none of us greater than anyone else. I come to demonstrate and help manifest the taking back of our power. I am honoured and humbled to be Guided and share the light of coming into our Knowingness, our genius state, where our bodies’ electrical systems are in full vibratory resonance, a state we have all touched upon in dreams, meditations, daydreams, and in our daily lives. I feel so in service and so privileged to now be prepared and actually setting forth guidelines and a working model for a swift worldwide network establishing peace and happiness on earth with an all-inclusive holistic plan.

We’ve packed this issue with such wondrous articles including, Love of Life: a tribute to Wayne Dyer; an interview with Liz Dawn Donahue, friend of Wayne and co-creator of Mishka Productions (Celebrate Your Life events) in Arizona; The Hopi Way, an interview with Manuel Bert Youvella from the Hopi Fire Clan; and, I am Genie presents Marianne Williamson and Deepak Chopra, an interview with wish granters, Joshua Dawson and Ingrid Thornhill.

Thank you for being open minded to welcome, feel, and be this new era, which officially began December 21, 2012 and is now sweeping rapidly but at the same time, running alongside humankind’s most unprecedented aggressive materialistic pursuits.

Also in this issue, we’ve included the entire first chapter of my new book entitled The All One Era, with each of the remaining 12 chapters to be introduced in this magazine over the next 12 new moons. I’m so deeply grateful to have this forum. It is an answered prayer to have this grand opportunity to share what sadly may be the only way we have to regenerate our precious planet and our precious selves… a remembrance of our original purpose and the welcoming of the ever-present Loving Universal Consciousness in a worldwide network embracing nature. With blessings, love, and excitement for this wondrous new era,

The All-One-Era Manuscript, Chapter 1 A vision for all of humanity. Each of us has a purpose. By Stephen Cipes

A

s we may or may not realize, we consciously decided our purpose before choosing to be born or re-born. The earlier we gain clarity of our purpose, the better, so that we may nurture it and watch it unfold before us. I'd like to be open-hearted and provide you with a stream of consciousness, so that you might relate to why I feel so strongly that with all the many wondrous messages circulating in the world, there remains a huge void: The return to our oneness. Let me start by sharing a little about my life. My instinctive nature has always been to be one with the earth, touching it with my bare hands and feet. As a child, my time was spent playing in the dirt and climbing trees. Throughout my life, I was blessed with splendid collaborations in oneness with nature, and many firsts. One of the first vivid life-changing experiences was when I read the book Bridey Murphy in the sixth grade. Bridey was an American housewife who had been hypnotized and brought back to her earliest childhood and then further regressed into her past life, which had taken place in the 1700s in Ireland. She began speaking in her original Irish brogue describing all the personal and factual things she experienced while in her life in Ireland. The book described how many of these actual places and things where later verified. This opened my soul memory of my personal past lives, and the realization that we are forever beings. Each of us is unique. Consciously or unconsciously, we are all aligned with our purpose. I have learned to follow the energy and not the issue: “Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.” - Albert Einstein I have always known and embraced my purpose, and have consciously encouraged myself to live it in my life. As a land broker and developer in the Westchester suburbs of New York City in the early 60s, I spearheaded cluster zoning to protect wetlands and steep slopes at a time when there were hardly any environmental protection laws. As the founder of Summerhill Pyramid Organic Winery in British Columbia, I realized my vision of being a conduit for heart-centered business. I knew business success is a platform from which we can be heard and hear on many levels. It enables us to live forth the grand teaching… The Master Jesus’s quote: “The greatest gift is to give of one's self.” I am living with genuine daily excitement to give to the world, in great part by using business as a platform to share spiritual awareness. Building an organic winery as a model of harmony with nature and of giving back to nature is a thrill and an honor. The opportunity to co-create with nature and actually demonstrate being a microcosm of the macrocosm from moment to moment de-

Let me stop here and go back a little and try to give you a glimpse of my busy life, which almost feels like many lives in one life… I have ventured down into the darkest places and lived among some of the most depressed people on earth. Since childhood, I have reached out to understand first-hand the truths and suffering of humanity and the spaces in which we can welcome more peace and oneness with each other and with our precious Mother Earth. I have sought solace and enlightenment by embracing the traditions of nine different religions. I have felt oneness with those of all the ethnic backgrounds. My leadership in the Global Vision for Peace Program led to the honor of being named a Friend of the United Nations, alongside the Dalai Lama and Yoko Ono. My yearning for deep understanding has taken me to a place where I truly feel like I am a composite of humanity. As in fact, we all are. Born to Jewish parents, I grew up in an Irish-Italian neighbourhood, and chose to

become a devout Catholic for seven years, beginning in my late teens. I learned to cherish the work of Jesus and the Saints. I instantly recognized Jesus’s teachings and saw that he was a pure vessel and conduit of Divine Spirit. It was the beginning of my quest to reveal that indeed we are all conduits of Spirit. For many years, I was deeply immersed in being Seventh Day Adventist and feel very blessed for having enjoyed that experience. I also drank in the teachings of Buddhism, Shintoism, Hinduism, Baha’i, Muslim, and Taoism. I share each religion’s teachings to this day, while staying closely connected to the resounding messages of all of the Great Masters. I, like my Native Aboriginal brothers and sisters, reach out to the earth herself. In bare feet we stand one-on-one with the stars, moon, and sun. We celebrate their cycles, and become one. In our sacred Sweat Lodge, we merge with the animals and the plants, and are even one with the rocks, the rivers, the sky, and the oceans. This is our true religion, and the golden

thread that ties all religions together. Through my life’s journey, I have also been very blessed to learn from, work with, and become close to many beings of all ethnic backgrounds. In my heart of hearts, I am truly African American, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Egyptian, Native American, Russian, Greek, Irish, and German. My wish is for my life and the messages within these pages to transcend all religions, races, and business sectors, while at the same time being one with each of them. We are all now sharing a vision that the time is NOW for love. We are finally in an era that is highly conducive for us all to return to our all Knowing, all receiving grand Selves with a capital S! Among many revelations, we begin now to be aligned with our original splendid purpose, which has little or nothing to do with our business, religious, political, or ethnic backgrounds. To quote UCLA professor, Dr. Valerie Hunt, “The definition of consciousness is our ability to relate to the entire universe.” Opening to “The Field” is to open and welcome our receiving selves, our electrical in nature, all knowing Selves, where we merge with the splendid, everpresent Loving Universal Consciousness (LUC) that we bathe in. Dr. Hunt termed these phenomena The Field. The core foundation of the book fro m which this chapter is excerpted is the definition of the word love. We humans ARE the conduits of infinite cosmic consciousness that is bursting to be revealed as we surrender and receive all the glorious Knowingness that surrounds us. The state of the planet today is muc h more seriously in jeopardy than we have been willing to accept as a whole. Author Michelle Kennedy Hogan, in her article for Inhabitat, says, “The book Limits to Growth – a 1972 harbinger of the death of the planet – was largely dismissed in its time as being improbable at best and at worst, alarmist. But new research shows that the book was likely right, not just about a few things, but about almost everything forecast about the planet’s collapse.” Readers may want to see the alloneera.com website to view images of our planet in crisis under Sacred Spaces. Who shall lead us now? Who shall lead us when it is all too late? Who shall lead us when chaos pervades? Who shall lead us when the entire population is clouded by delusion and engrossed so completely in the “human drama” and overwhelmed and have tuned out all but their constant cravings for food, physical comforts, and material pleasures? And when they can’t get them? As my dad would say, “When people are hungry, they go to war.” What will a war do? It will provide temporary material abundance and a horrific potential for the demise of the entire population of all life with the present war technology we now have. We are still strongly influenced by an era that is also at its height and has created the first and only (Continued on page 6)

new paradigm since our original birthing. Humankind has the ability to annihilate itself… completely… by triggering a Nuclear Winter. Leadership, leadership what is involved in leadership? How to get the most impact to the most people in the most efficient way? Do the teens that set themselves on fire to let the world know their dire dismay at the invasion of their leadership in Tibet have an impact? Do the multitude of books, plays, art, music, articles, and examples by so many millions of genius inspired souls aka Light Workers have impact? The sad fact is that in spite of the onset of today’s grandest communication technology with our being able to share our genius level Knowingness, we are simultaneously at the peak of our darkest hour. Corporate greed, and preoccupation with the “human drama” are both at an all-time high. Sadly, we are presently at the tipping point where ONLY the miracle of us uniting our hearts, minds, and technology, can re-set our present treacherous path. We are all one—the earth’s changes and nature’s ebbs and flows are directly connected. What would it take to have a wake-up call of major proportion? Have we gone too far beyond the tipping point to respond and to contribute even if we were guided from the highest sources? Will it take another war to wake us up? A gripping global economic collapse? A tidal wave that sets off nuclear reactors and poisons us all with cancerous radiation? How about the melting of our ice and the rising of the sea flooding land where over 95% of our population resides? How about another ice age as predicted? How come the movie An Inconvenient Truth by former US vicepresident Al Gore didn’t have an impact? It was there for all to see and what did the world do? They held world summits and committed to lower the carbon footprint using economic sanctions. And did they lower it? No! It was a joke. As Dr. David Suzuki pointed out, the politicians who voted to lower it are no longer in office and those who are, are not obligated to adhere to those commitments. He also pointed out that the taxing of industry with heavy fines if they keep up their spewing and polluting is a joke. They just pass the costs along to the consumers, us! So there is no way to enforce these noble but weak intentions. While there is valid argument that indeed, one eruption by a volcano may emit more carbon than all of our factories put together, we are connected to that eruption and we have a holy calling, a time in our time to enter our Homecoming. We no longer have the luxury of throwing our hands in the air and giving away our power. Dr. Suzuki said it best in his personal quote to me for this book at his world headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia on December 11, 2013. He said, “The environmental movement has failed. We’ve won some Pyrrhic battles but we lost the war because we failed to change consciousness surrounding these issues.” Doctors Hunt and Suzuki are saying the same precious message. Consciousness is our gift. We simply must now all go within and open and surrender to Spirit. The time is NOW for love. The time is NOW for us all to start gathering regularly, as we have for eons, honoring nature and

hile eating smoked salmon sushi in a tiny Japanese restaurant off Times Square in Manhattan before the matinee performance of Aladdin, my fiveyear-old daughter Esther asked the question: “Do we separate the soul from the body BEFORE we kill the fish or the animal so it’s just the body?” After a brief pause she went on to say, “we kiss the fish and hug the fish or the animal and then we kill it? Why we kill the fish?”

opening and surrendering to the luminous love that surrounds us, replenishing our Knowingness and super consciousness. The time is NOW to return to our hearts. This is the ONLY way we will have a last chance to save our splendid creation, our precious playground, our sacred sublime home where we have created the ideal conditions to prosper and flourish in abundance and peace and joy in ingenious bodies that are each and every one a microcosm of the entire universe. Selah! As we are finally now sadly realizing, we are living in a world that has become entirely polluted. It is a time where there is an urgent need for us all to open our receiving selves, so that we can once again be in touch with our one heart, our one soul, and our forever Knowingness. I'd like to coin the word Knowingness with a capital K throughout these messages. It is a word that has no element of doubt and aptly describes our ability to be conduits of the cosmic vibrations that surround each of us and all there is at all times. There is also now the greatest urgenc y for self-sufficiency. Never before has there been a more urgent planet-wide need to grow our own food, to drink only clean water, to breathe clean air, and to minimize

our exposure to the far-reaching pollution. As we gather and re-harmonize with our earth, we come into the revelation that we are one with God. Such a vibration can be enhanced greatly as we align our lives in love and gratitude and a return to an organic nature. The honoring of ourselves and of our intimate connection with all of nature and the entire universe returns us to being in tune with our ALL ONE Splendid Original Intention… The BIG BANG Theory where our recognition of Self burst into the glory of ever-expanding creation the moment we became one with our all loving Self/ Selves! While all of these things may sound heady, they actually come to us in a flash as soon as we open our “feminine” receiving ability and begin to behold the fifth dimensional flow of holy loving energy… Loving Universal Consciousness (LUC). This book is my vision for humanity to lift the veil with a specific proactive master plan of actions, worldwide connections, and gatherings. We ARE God… we are all one-forever beings. This is the Prophesy of Prophesies, our original blessed eternal merger with Loving Universal Consciousness… the eternal loving cosmic vibrations

www.alloneeramag.com

My answer: Because in nature, we are all interconnected. We live by and for each other—one whole living entity that includes all there is… however… when there are predators (killers), such as us human beings, as smart, plentiful (eight billion of us now) resourceful, and ambitious (to always get ahead of each other), nature suffers to the astonishing state of complete ruination! Let me draw you a graph, Esther, of the last ten thousand years of us humans living with all of the plants and animals on the earth and then of the last one hundred years of living with them… look at that! One big long flat line with hardly any change and then all of a sudden a line straight up! What happened in the last hundred years? Why have thousands of animals and plants and even original humans become extinct and continue to become extinct every day? What is SO different about the last hundred years? In a word it is Reverence. Reverence for our selves. Reverence for our collective Presence. Reverence for our holy oneness with all there is, the entire universe. Reverence for each other. At this time in our time, maybe we all need to step back, take some deep breaths, and go within to our hearts, our soul memories, our essence, and our Knowingness. I call it connecting with the ever-present Loving Universal Consciousness, the LUC. You can call it intuition… We know, "We can’t change anyone else, we can only change ourselves.” Perhaps the time is NOW to begin to gather around the fire on the full and new moons and interconnect with nature and each other BEFORE we kill the fish, my daughter. - Stephen Cipes

that indeed we ARE. As we become aware of the presence of the LUC, or The Field in this new era of receiving, we are beginning to realize that indeed we are unlimited in our potentials. There is no separation; we are all one. We are now returning to our original splendid intention to BE the Realized Beings, the Masters, which we are. As we unite in gatherings and in the process of a worldwide crescendo of purpose, we begin to create an ever unfolding and expanding individual and collective orchestration of vast, yet gentle loving and continuous flow in the now. Simply put, we are opening our Selves by opening to receive the constant flow of loving energy that forever expands our consciousness, leading us to naturally becoming one with our planet, nature, all entities, and all of the universe as conduits or vessels of Holy Spirit. The most passionate and significant messages that I am here to share are: ♥ We each have the magnificent power within us to affect our entire creation! We ARE God. We ARE Love. Everyone in their heart of hearts knows this most powerful of universal truths. ♥ We are all tribal. Every culture, religion,

It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a return to gatherings to recreate a heart-centered movement! ♥ Now, on the brink of unprecedented planet-wide deterioration, we are realizing that ONLY by going within do we stand a real chance to return to our oneness with nature and begin the physical restoration of Her and our Selves. We know that in our power, we no longer tolerate further human-made deterioration. Our power IS much stronger and further reaching than we have ever taken credit for! ♥ Now, for the first time in history, we have the two most powerful tools in our hands: the profound, scientifically measurable impact of our conscious intentions, especially when sharing our intentions in group experience; and, the mighty computer technology in place to further implement our loving intentions and unite humanity! The time is NOW to connect! The first model venue has been established in Kelowna, British Columbia at Summerhill Pyramid Winery where gatherings have been the center of the “spiritual community” since 1997. The Summerhill Pyramid, a 60-foot-square, four-storey replica of The Great Pyramid, serves as a cellar for all the organic wines produced as well as a chamber of meditation and a natural venue for gatherings held in concert with the changes of nature. The Summer Solstice gatherings have attracted so many to the pyramid every year. The Winter Solstice with its traditional procession of guests, each holding a candle, filing in from the Makwala Memorial Kekuli, a womb-like replica of a traditional First Nation’s earth-overed winter home, is always bringing Light on the darkest day of the year. The Spring Equinox and the Fall Equinox gatherings are always joyous celebrations all these years with dancing and drumming around the sacred fire in the Kekuli and veggie potluck feasts. The Kelowna community, since the Winter Solstice of December 21, 2012, celebrates

September 27, 2015

the new moon every month in the pyramid for females only, and full moon gatherings for men, women, and children which, many times, go on till after midnight around the fire! Now with 28 gatherings a year, the communities’ email/Facebook list has well over 1,000 loyal enthusiasts and is growing every month! All-male gatherings are starting in the Kekuli on new moons when the females gather in the pyramid! The return to our oneness with nature has begun. The Kelowna community model is in place and there is similar enthusiasm growing worldwide. The ALL ONE ERA has finally arrived! Gatherings can easily be duplicated… the return to our oneness and the manifestation of The Field. We all have the holy privilege of letting go and Being Guided. This wondrous flow of loving energy longs to come through us freely once again. We are becoming pure vessels for the messages of loving intention and it behooves us to establish venues around the world at this time that are conducive to the enhancement of our lofty intentions.

With our opening to this flow, we take back our power and become an exalted population living in harmony with nature. As we do so, we begin to act as liaisons for the Grand Teachings. These teachings have forever been in existence, and have been revealed countless times through our everyday lives and recorded by our many inspired spiritual scribes, teachers, and leaders. They are always weaving through everything and everyone in our universe. It is time that we take back our power and lift the veils of separation. It is time to open our receiving hearts to regain our universal truths. In sacred nature-honoring gatherings, we richly nourish our natural ability to completely open our Selves to our infinite power and genius level Knowingness. A great breakthrough happened at Summerhill at the Spring Equinox Gathering on March 20, 2015. We built a “portable pyramid” made with light beams, which were rented for $200. We built a fire in the middle and the smoke highlighted the beams and created a beautiful and precisely angled chamber for the gathering for a very low cost. This is answered

prayer to the quest to develop economically sustainable branch-gathering places all over the world. This portable light pyramid also opens the opportunity to establish the Anwar Sadat Peace Park in Jerusalem. The All-One-Era book outlines the ultimate ♥ call to action. Fused within its pages is a focus on going within, where we are all one, in the glorious soul of the world. We have the ability to feel and know the vibration of all of creation within our bodies. Through our mergence in such a space of awareness, we catapult a total rejuvenation, a colossal movement in love—the already in motion All-One-Era. The Hopi Way -

living consciously with nature

The Hopi way of life and words of wisdom from Manuel Bert Youvella from the Hopi Fire Clan. By Teena Clips ton

was fortunate enough to come across a strong supporter of the Hopi Way. His name is Manuel Bert Youvella, and he is from Walpi on the first Mesa. I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to ask him some questions. Below is a short interview:

I

first became interested in the Hopi Way of life many years back when I was living on a sailboat in the Strait of Georgia off the coast of BC. It was my practice at the time to live humbly off the land. While docking somewhere between Campbell River and Saanich … I can’t reme mber the spot … I picked up an Internet signal, and came across a rare video on Youtube. That video would change the direction of my life. The speaker in the video was a Cherokee man by the name of Lee Brown. He gave a seminal talk at the 1986 Continental Council in Fairbanks. He spoke of the Hopi prophecies, on how man must stay in harmony with nature or face great calamities for his ways. It was one of the greatest talks I had ever listened to. I was consumed. I made it my mission to learn more. I was so intrigued by the talk I took it upon myself to look up more information about Lee Brown. I found out he was actually Dr. Lee Brown, co-ordinator of the Indigenous Doctoral Program in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia. He was across the strait from me! I contacted Dr. Lee Brown to discuss the Hopi prophecies and the video, and my inspiration to learn more continued to grow. I decided I would go to Arizona to the Hopi reservation. I wanted to learn more about the prophecies and the Hopi Way, but most importantly, I was drawn to the land. I wanted to see this great land myself, because I felt maybe it could wake something up inside… I guess I was also searching for information about who I was. It was 2011, a time of awakening for many people as rumors of a major change coming our way had percolated across the Web. Some people talked of a major upheaval, some spoke of a massive spiritual awakening, some spoke of alien invasion, and some even spoke of the return of Jesus. I was intrigued. So many beautiful ideas presenting themselves from all points of view. It didn’t matter who was wrong or who was right; the message was clear… a change was coming. And so this was the beginning of my quest to find some kind of definition of who I was, of how I was spiritually connected to this earth, and, like others, this was another step to my very own awakening. I did make my way to the Hopi Reservation that year. I met a great guide by the name of Micah Loma’omvaya, who took me around the land. He shared legends and prophecies, and told me the history of his people. I was blessed. Not only did I get to see these places, the petroglyphs, the prophecy rock, the breath-taking land, the Kachina dances, the underground kivas, the homes on the first mesa, the people, the children… I could feel these things as well. The Hopi, which means peaceful people, are the oldest dwellers in North America to have survived the influence of colonization from European migration. They are but one tribe of people from the Indian

Teena: Manuel’s Hopi name is Piiphaapnuuhman (meaning “looking for tobacco”), and he is from the Hopi Fire Clan. He was born in 1963, the youngest from his mother’s first marriage. Manuel: It is the uncles who teach the nephews about our Hopi Way, but mine lived away from the Hopi land so I had to rely on myself to find out. With the help of four teacher aides who are Hopi, who I am so grateful to for being there, they told me who I was and that my Fire Clan was very important as we are very close to Masauwu, the God of life, death, and fire, the one who is the caretaker of this world. Teena: What does it mean to live The Hopi Way? Manuel: The Hopi Way means humility, compassion, being humble, and having respect for all of the Creator’s creation. Praying for all creations to live a long, happy, healthy, safe, strong, peaceful life so that one day he will see that we have done it his way and for that our reward will be everlasting life. That is what we Hopi are striving for, for our children, who are all humans here on Mother Earth. As Hopi, we Hopi, all know what the Hopi Way is because this is how the Creator explained it to us and his is why we were created, to carry out his life plan. A Hopi maiden drying corn meal at a fireplace in Oraibi, Arizona, 1898. Photographer: James, George Wharton. Part of the California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960. Nation that have managed to keep their culture alive, while over 100 million of their brothers and sisters were indoctrinated into a new system of life, murdered, put into slavery, and / or died of disease brought over by visitors to the land. Their amazing journey of perseverance is deeply rooted in their religious beliefs, because, since a time unknown, they have maintained a sacred covenant with Masauwu, the Earth God. This importance of living spiritually in harmony with nature has never wavered. Bearing witness to the disconnect that continues to brew in man as he separates himself from nature and spirit, the Hopi have become messengers to humanity, pleading for the end of man’s separation from nature, and for a stop to the rape of the land and its resources. The Hopi still humbly occupy the land in northeastern Arizona that belonged to their ancestors since a time immemorial. They call this land Hopitutskwa; others may know it as the Hopi reservation. Their system of villages consists of three mesas, and Walpi is the oldest village on the first of these. My visit to their land installed a deeper

passion within me to make sure I stayed in harmony with nature. Ironically, the day after I left the reserve, while I slept peacefully in a tent by a stream in Sedona, a massive, magnitude 9 earthquake would hit Japan, producing a tsunami that would kill thousands of people and damage the Fukusima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which would spill a toxic bath of radiation into the Pacific Ocean. The Hopi Prophecy, again, would show its value. Now, four years later, the Hopi Way is once again in my thoughts. I can clearly see how humanity seems to be on two different paths. There is a path of Awakening that is growing among the people, and also there is a path of… I am not sure what to call it … let me say Ego, but I am not sure if that is the best word. The space between these two paths is also growing wider. I can see the hate and confusion growing along the Ego path, and the Love growing in the Awakened. It almost feels like our planet will split in two. It is my only hope that more people will take the right path, and so I am reminded to share the Hopi Way with everyone. Thanks to technology and Facebook, I

Teena: What happens if we do not live the Hopi Way? Is it told in the prophecy rock? Manuel: The prophecy rock is a reminder to us, a warning from the Creator of what will happen if we do not continue with our ceremonies/prayers and that which he has entrusted to us to do. If we stray from that (shown in the top horizontal line… the material way) then we will be lost and confused, we will become detached from our Mother Earth, destroying her and her children, humans. For we are forgetting to think from the heart. The bottom horizontal line is the true path of life, spiritual. When followed we will live a long, happy, healthy, peaceful life, for we are living in harmony with all creation, keeping everything in balance so that we will live to an old age and die peacefully in our sleep. We have lived our life to the fullest extent of how the Creator made it to be. We go peacefully to the next world. When a Hopi man does not choose the Hopi Way he will be lost as to what he is born into therefore he becomes confused and he will seek materialism as his faith. He may think that this is the true way to live, making him spiritually weak and vulnerable to the evilness of this world. His children will become lost and confused as to the true purpose for which they were

Message from Hopi Elders You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered… Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in right relation? Where is your water?

I would say I was not a Hopi that I was a Pahana, a white person. I became confused not knowing who or what I really was. I could not feel anything, like I was unable to see or feel everything around me. I became disrespectful, mean, I did not care what I did or said to others. I became heartless. When we know of Hopi people who turn away from living the Hopi Way, we pray for them to wake up, to understand that they are Hopi first, and will be Hopi last, and this is what the Creator chose for them, and not to deny him of what we consider a special gift. I am forever thankful to the four teacher aides of my elementary years. If not for them I would be lost in space. I love them eternally. Teena: Tell us what is it like in Walpi. Manuel: Living in Walpi is very peaceful and it is a daily reminder of how we are supposed to be living. You are truly one with Mother Earth here. You can feel her heart beat by all that you see, feel, touch, and hear. On a clear night you can see trillions of stars, the Milky Way. They seem so close, like you can reach out and touch them. It is a wonderful, spiritual feeling and it lets you know that we are so fortunate to be here on this planet, and we thank the Creator for allowing us to be in this amazing creation of life. You then realize that you are only a dot, like all of them stars. It reminds us of humility, humbleness, compassion, having love and respect for all life, the Hopi Way, in this beautiful sweet universe. Walpi has not change spiritually, but physically the people have moved down the mesa to modern housing. Our population has grown so there is not enough room for everybody, but during our ceremonies it is alive and that is one of the happiest times of the year. We also call Walpi a ghost town, for most of the time only the spirits live there. There are no modern conveniences there. It is totally dark at night. It is awesome during moonlit nights. Teena: Many people do not believe in a Creator. How can we open the hearts of those who have lost their way?

September 27, 2015

Manuel: I think that the way to spread the message of harmony is to make people understand that everyone here on Mother Earth has a spirit, and that we all depend on each other to be here. I feel that the most important thing to tell people is that we are forgetting how to think with the heart, and we need not to think so much with the brain. Compassion, humility, humbleness, love, and respect come from the heart, for that is where our spirit’s life breath is housed until we pass on to the next world. The brain can be easily manipulated to do and think what others want to make you do. You become their zombies, just like how politicians are always trying to make us believe in everything they say. We are forgetting how to rely on our own consciousness, which is our spiritual being. When we rely too much on the brain we make ourselves sick, leading to high blood pressure, strokes, headaches, and of course, heart attacks. There is no balance in our physical-ness, no harmony. This leads to an unhealthy body. When this happens it affects everything here on Mother Earth for we are all connected. As Hopis we have always been farmers, and our crops are like our children. When we plant the seeds we are impregnating Mother Earth, so we are very careful to make sure no harm comes to our fields. Early in the morning the man goes to his fields, he says a prayer to Father Sun to bless his field, bless all life here, and himself so that he may have a good harvest season, so he may share his crops with the people. He will work maybe all day. He would pull out the weeds by hand, and make sure that the crows and other animals do not harm his crop. As he is tending to his field, he will sing a Hopi song, and talk to his field, his children, letting them know how much he loves them. By doing this he is keeping harmony with all life here, and a man’s field will let you know what kind of life he is living, even without much rain as it is in Hopi Land. If his crops show nothing but weeds this tells us that he is not a good man, egotistic. I feel that by getting people to understand the importance of planting a field or having a garden, this will slowly open their hearts to understand more about nature. By doing this I am sure they will slowly wake up and get rid of their

egos. With a field or garden you are caring for Mother Earth and her children. You are one with all creation, and this is the way to spiritually keep your balance and harmony with all life, for you are keeping that connection. Do not depend on chemicals to help you with your garden; they will only contaminate it. It will make you lazy and selfish, and bring harm to your children, you, and all life here on Mother Earth. So be humble and use your own natural abilities to do your gardening. It is sad that all these Creator-given abilities are taken away from us by evil greedy corporations who make us weak, physically and spiritually. Teena: I want to thank Manuel for his generous time on helping me add his words to this article. Thank you Manuel. It is an upside down world we live in when we can explain away the common sense of taking care of our land, our water, and the air we breathe, and yet it happens every day in the name of economics, monetary gain, laziness, and greed. The matter of pollution and the destruction of our land reaches into almost every part of our lives. It may seem like and impossible feat to rewind. And yet it can be done. One person at a time, uniting as one, regardless of faith, to make a change. As for the corporations that seem to have a strong hold on our land, they are run by people, and so they, too, can change. Certainly we cannot all be farmers, but we can certainly tend to the world around us with the same love. I stand for clean water. I stand for clean air. I stand for pure soil, plants, herbs, and tall trees. I stand for the animals, the creatures, and the crawly things. I stand for an organic world. To me, this is living consciously with nature. The Hopi Way.

Know your garden. It is time to speak your Truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for the leader. This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we've been waiting for. Buddha and the Moon By Jessica Kir by

udhist communities the world over unite on specific days to celebrate birthdays of Bodhisattvas in the Mahayana tradition, or in other traditions, auspicious dates on the Buddhist calendar. Uposatha days or days of Observance are opportunities to renew one’s dedication to the Dharma practice, to reflect deeply in intense mediation, and to cease all physical labour in favour of inner and spiritual effort. Monks partake in confession and recite the monastic rules of conduct on Uposatha days, while laypeople observe the Eight Precepts as a way to renew and strengthen their commitment to the Dharma. Celebrations vary among Buddhist traditions and geographic regions, but uniting Buddhist practitioners from many places are observances aligned with the Moon. The most significant of these, celebrated the most widely among traditions, is Vesak or Visakah Puja observance, which occurs on the Full Moon in May and signifies the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha 2,500 years ago. Honoured are the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha— the threefold jewels of Buddhism, while laypeople feed the poor and visit the monestary to listen to the Dharma talk, and at the end of the day, chant the Buddha’s teachings and meditate. Besides this, traditions vary among ethinic or traditional groups, most of which (with the exception of Japanese Buddhists) use the Lunar calendar. Theravada Buddhists celebrate New Years for three days from the first Full Moon in April, while Mahayanas begin on the first Full Moon in January. Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese welcome the new year in late January or early February, while Tibetans celebrate a month later. Magha Puja or Sangha Day takes place on the Full Moon day of the third Lunar month to commemorate the day 1250 enlightened saints, each ordained by the Buddha himself, returned from their wanderings to pay respect to the Buddha with no prior plan or agreement. This series of auspictious factors is embedded in celebratory history by its occurance on a Full Moon. On the Full Moon day of the eighth Lunar month, the Buddha gave his first teaching, in which he addressed five ascetics and brought them to enlightenment, about the turning of the Dharma wheel—a day celebrated in contemporary times as Dharma Day.

I see and feel the Moon Photo credit: H. Kopp-Delaney / flickr commons And in some cases, the Uposatha celebrates a significant event or lesson the Buddha shared with the world. He once used the example of a wild elephant which, when caught can be harnessed and trained, much in the same way and older Buddhist can be a special friend to someone new to practice. To commemorate this lesson, Thai Buddhists hold an Elephant Festival on the Full Moon in November. In the Sri Lankan city of Kandy, a temple houses one of the Buddha’s teeth, which is hidden within many caskets and never seen, but honoured in a special procession on the Full Moon in August. Buddhists in the Theravada tradition observe Uposatha four times monthly, connected with the Full, New, and Quarter phases of the Moon. Mahayana have Uposatha days ten times per month, on specific dates, and in Japan, six days of Observance are called Six Days of Fasting. Geography and tradition may vary the semantics of Uposatha, but the common thread of Lunar phases remains static. With this connection comes specific observance qualities such as coming together, sharing space, food, and commitment, quieting the

mind, dropping social and religious boundaries, and focusing on internal cleansing and outer purity. These times, which ebb and flow with the Moon, encourage a literal stengthening and revival of faith in Buddhist practice, and a symbolic but meaningful reconnection with inner strength and commitment to one another. In these times, monks and laypeople, rich and poor, young and old eat and practice together, sharing a love for the divinity of life and the universe. The deeper significance of Buddhist religious observance and the Moon stems from two places—the literal and symbolic. Some of the Buddha’s most outstanding achievements and important events, including his birth, renunciation, first sermon, enlightenment, and death occurred on Full Moon days. Symbolically, Buddhists and other religious practitioners hold Lunar phases in a state of reverence because of the Moon’s connection with and effect on the oceans and its position as a universal wanderer, circulating through the heavens, sustaining life as we know it. The Lunar effect on human psychology and physical health has been recorded

ALL ONE ERA magazine though out history in texts that transcend religious borders. Passion, rage, daily emotions, and in some cases, mental illnesses flair with the Moon’s activities and proximity to Earth. Science says our bodily fluids flow more freely during a Full Moon, and that certain skin and lung ailments are aggravated at this time, while farmers have for thousands of years planned their crops around the Moon’s phases. Even practitioners of ancient medicine take into consideration the state of the Moon when harvesting and administering certain substances. The Moon’s deep and reverent relationship with the living world did not go unnoticed by ancient sages who advised human beings to relax their minds and their bodies, strengthen their inner light, and reach for enlightened states, lest they fall subject to the Moon’s effects. In this way, it is humanness that connects us—our susceptibility to the Moon’s power, whether layperson or monk, rich or poor, young or old. In his enlightened wisdom, the Buddha, who advocated for flow and movement rather than resistance to conflict, said to be free of the Moon, we have to strengthen the parts of us it most deeply touches. In contemporary history, Lunar observances have become holidays, and during the colonial period, many Moon observances were renamed Sundays, yet the notion of collective rest, rejuvenation, and recommitment to spiritual practice remains. In fact, the most basic and profound principles of all religious observance go back to the roots of humankind’s relationship with the Moon—quieting the mind, opening the heart, and reaching out to one another in peace and unity. ***

Harvest Moon By Jessica Kir by

T

he 2015 Harvest Moon, marking the Full Moon closest to the Autumn Equinox, is brighter, larger, and closer than ever this year as it takes rise in the sky as a Super Moon, September 27-28. On this night, it will also stage a total Lunar Eclipse. A Super Moon turns full about one hour after reaching lunar pedigree, which means its closest position to Earth all month, and brings with it wide-ranging spring tides for days following the rise. On September 27, a full, brilliant Moon will rise just after sunset, climb to its peak in the middle of the night, and shine its brightest when the sun is at your feet. This opposition with the sun is a defining factor of a Full Moon, as it lights our way with its fully lit hemisphere or “day side.” The Harvest Moon is special because of its early evening rises. Typical Moons rise about 50 minutes later each day, but a Harvest Moon rises approximately 30 to 35 minutes later each day for several days before and after the Autumn Equinox. The ecliptic or Moon’s orbital path, creates a narrow angle with the horizon at this time, resulting in a shorter-than-usual rising time between successive moonrises.

Harvest Moons appear brighter and larger than other Full Moons because they have a powerful energy and place in legend. Because of their early rises, many people experience the Harvest Moon shortly after sunset when the Moon will always be near the horizon. This position makes it look larger and orange in colour—the orange being a true physical effect. When we look towards the horizon, we are looking through a greater thickness of Earth’s atmosphere than when gazing overhead. The greater thickness scatters blue light most effectively, allowing red light to pass through to the eye and paint the horizon and its Moon in a red or orange tint. Many people bask in a Harvest Moon’s beauty reflecting on the closing of the light, inner reflection, bountiful nourishment, and spiritual fulfillment. It is a time for unity and gathering, sharing abundance, and embracing the season’s end. Jessica Kirby is a freelance writer and editor based on Vancouver Island. Moon Song I pull the night sky over me cold stars, the air full of trees breathing wind. The grass still holds the day's stored energy. Now floating in memories of other times I did or did not star bathe alone or with others or with those who would leave me. And I know I am between the celestial and mundane neither place, all places. There is no time among the constellations beneath the vivid moon, nothing but witnessing the mindless open spaces and everything I am and could be. The moon alone finds me Mother's embrace beyond the naming of things across all surfaces floats the round inaudible brilliance contracts, expands my heart. "If you believe it will work out, you'll see opportunities. If you believe it won't you will see obstacles." – Wayne Dyer

By Autum n La Bohem e

I

n my mid-20s, finding myself divorced, taking on full custody of two kids, and living with seemingly limited resources, I came across a video of a bald-headed man sitting on a stage in front of a purple back drop, smiling as he talked about navigating his way through the tumultuous terrains of life. Page 12

How does a person do that, I wondered—appreciate the good and the bad as if it were all beautiful? How does a person talk about sickness and loss with such joy? How can a person show so much love after being hurt, abandoned, or unloved? It’s because this man was Dr. Wayne Dyer, a wise teacher who taught that the contrast is what makes life Life, and that the best way to live that life was to love. Be love, show love, share love, in love, because of love, through love, for the sake of love. The stress I was going through in that time put my body in a serious state of shock and distress. I was so sick and weak that I stayed in bed for days, with my computer by my side, playing audio books by Wayne Dyer. I remember how each breath felt like work, drifting off to sleep to his teachings, dreaming of a happier future. His voice was deep and powerful, but gentle. His concepts were simple but profound. I studied Dr. Dyer’s teachings daily and nightly like it was my sustenance during my transition into my new direction in life. Each breath felt like work, but I kept breathing so I could listen more. His words ran so deep that they helped bring healing to my soul, and shined outward to heal my body. In time, I re-gained strength, but armed with a new perspective of life and love, I was stronger than ever.

One of the most powerful teachings that ultimately helped me end my cycles of depression and sickness was the idea that life is meant to be enjoyed. I had always believed sadness, sickness, depression, and the like were all normal. He taught me that at our core as humans we all want to be happy and that happiness is attainable for all of us, not just a chosen few, by loving ourselves and loving others. It was a simple concept, and one I had heard many times before. But he taught me how to love by setting an example. He lived a life of love and shared it with the rest of the world. As I studied more, I came to respect his authenticity. While there has been a recurring theme of using the Law of Attraction to “get what you want,” Dr. Dyer repeatedly reminded me that I attract who I am. Besides that, there was nothing that I needed to “get” anyway. He taught me that I am already complete. I am equipped with everything I need, and I can experience this life however I choose. I learned to stop allowing situations to dictate my happiness, and I learned how to access my own divine power to be happy and to paint my life canvas with whatever beautiful colours I chose. I am limitless, and this was a deeply pivotal part of my healing. No longer was I a victim. I was a victor. A creator. A sacred soul. No one could take away from me what I had gotten ahold of. Dr. Dyer’s teachings have continued to inject my experience with more life and love over the last several years. "We are not human beings in search of a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings immersed in a human experience.” – Wayne Dyer My story is not uncommon. Thousands of people all over the world have taken in his words for guidance for many years. It is easy to absorb his teachings because they are spoken with a spirit of servitude for humanity. He taught us that life is about giving, serving, allowing. It’s about kindness, sincerity, gentleness. It’s about rever-

www.alloneeramag.com

ence for all life, and all the phases of life. Once we can grasp the importance of ourselves and our divinity, we can’t help but share love and happiness with everyone else because we recognize their divinity as well. This is a beautiful cycle that Dr. Dyer kept in motion throughout his life and teachings. His books that are especially powerful for me to study include Wisdom of the Masters, Secrets of Your Own Healing Power, and Creating Your World the Way You Really Want It to Be with Deepak Chopra. "Once you believe in yourself and see your soul as divine and precious, you'll automatically be converted to a being who can create miracles." – Wayne Dyer I had the beautiful privilege of talking with a very dear friend of Dr. Dyer’s, Liz Dawn Donahue, co-creator of Mishka Productions, which produces the transformational Celebrate Your Life events. Her respect for him runs deep, and his influence on her like so many others will continue as his teachings live on. Autumn: What was the first book, tape, or teaching by Dr. Dyer that struck you as powerful? Liz: 10 Secrets to Success and Inner Peace. So simple and yet so profoundly important. Autumn: What is something Dr. Dyer said to you personally in the time you knew him that really resounded with you? Liz: Great question. My mother, Ariel Wolfe, had transitioned. Wayne knew my mother really well and adored her. She was my business partner in Mishka Productions. It was about a year after her transition, and I was on the phone with him very upset that I was struggling so much and still in deep grief. He very clearly stated to me in his best Wayne teaching voice, “Liz, I strongly believe that NO ONE dies before their time.” I hemmed and hawed and tried to object, but he said it again. We then had a conversation about death and dying, and it lifted something inside of me. He was an amazing teacher and friend.

Autumn: His philosophy was pure and simple, “The law of attraction is this: You don’t attract what you want. You attract what you are.” How does this concept affect your perspective on your own life? Liz: It’s so beautifully stated. I have come to learn that whatever is drawn to me, I definitely play a role in that manifestation. However, at the same time, I don’t do the “blame game” if it is something negative, or buy into the belief that “I manifested” something if it is positive. I accept what is and notice my energy around what is happening. In other words, I strive not to get into an ego space of what has been attracted to me, but rather evaluate my energy based on what has occurred. Autumn: Dr. Dyer also talked a lot about the misconception of the Law of Attraction. We often tell the Universe “I want this. I want that.” And the Universe responds to that as you are lacking because you are always asking for more. However, if we ask the Universe “How may I serve?” it responds by giving. Giving opportunities. Giving resources. How did he inspire you to love, share, give, and shift your thinking into serving humanity? Liz: On my birthday last year, I really wanted to honor humanity and people that are struggling in the world rather than it only being about me, me, me. I live in Arizona, and my birthday is in the summer. Very hot. The homeless population suffers greatly here in the summer, and I decided to gather the Mishka team together to go downtown and take food, water, socks, and much needed toiletries to them. Wayne heard that we were raising money for this, and he sent me a $1000 cheque! I called him in joyful tears, and he shared with me that every birthday, he takes $20 and $100 bills and hands them out to the homeless community. What a gift he was. Autumn: Dr. Dyer said one of the fastest ways to transform fear into love and tap into the Source is through one of seven faces of intention—kindness. Did you ever witness him personally do something kind for yourself or another person (or animal!)? Could you share your experience? Liz: Along with the story mentioned above, he had found a man – I cannot remember his name – who had been severely burned. The man had lost most of his hands, and his face was completely distorted. However, he was an excellent drummer. Wayne took him to a couple of his speaking events, had a drum set up on stage, and allowed him perform for the audience. It was such a gift to this man as he loved Wayne and his teachings. Wayne used this man as a living example of someone who has overcome tremendous obstacles and did not allow his circumstances to define him. Autumn: He talks about how he had experienced sickness and loss in his life yet he was constantly renewing himself and aiming to be more in line with his higher

September 27, 2015

self. His experiences (good and bad) were part of his journey. In the time you knew Dr. Dyer, how did you see his life or his teachings evolve? Liz: Oh Yes! Wayne started working with us in 1998, and then in 2002, he was a regular presenter at our Celebrate Your Life conferences. So I watched him grow, and most importantly his audience grew with him. At first, his concepts were easy, simple to grasp, and then in one of his last presentations with us, he was discussing some very complex ideas. He opened up the door for discussions out of book called I Am That written by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. This was one of my mother’s favorite books. She had shared with me that it was one of the highest level pieces of work she had read thus far. Wayne was taking us on a journey to a higher level of consciousness. Autumn: Do you have a favorite memory, quote, or teaching you would like to share? Liz: There are so many great memories! I have two that I love. At one of our Celebrate Your Life conferences, some of the speakers included Wayne, Deepak Chopra, Neale Donald Walsch, and Marianne Williamson. They are all dear friends and had not been in the same room together for many, many years. Watching Wayne, Deepak, Neale, and Marianne embrace each other brought tears to my eyes. I remember thinking, Wow! These great visionaries all in one room together, and my mom and I are here to be a part of it! What a blessing. Another instance was when Wayne heard I was in the process of writing a book. He read a chapter overview and sent me an endorsement. I believe the world is a better place because of Wayne Dyer. I will miss you Wayne. The world may mourn the physical loss of such a profound teacher, but we know his energy, his spirit, his work, his mission, his teachings, and his legacy will continue on. His teachings crossed boundaries, borders, cultures, and languages, and we offer our deepest appreciation for his work on this planet. n the mid-90s Frances Mayes, recovering from a divorce, wrote a me moire aptly titled Under the Tuscan Sun. She docume nted her struggle in leaving her past, one wrought with pain and heartache, for one full of value and beauty in a foreign place among foreign friends. A decade later, Elizabeth Gilbert released her book, Eat Pray Love, another genuine tale of a woman seeking the gateway to realizing the best parts of life and love. Many of us envision spiritual travel in only those realms: lost writers rebuilding ancient estates from the foundation upwards, or globe-trotting to learn the true definition of attraversiamo (Italian for ‘Let’s cross over). The same lot of us of is most likely unaware exactly how desirable spiritual travel has become. In financial terms, we spend nearly $20 billion on this industry each year, going the distance to illustrate our need to find peace and harmony in experiences rather than in material goods. In this multi-billion dollar facet of the travel industry there is a dichotomy, a branch system that will determine our needs and lead us on our way to spiritual awakening. The world is far from flat; the Universe is far from vast; and, they come together in more ways than we know to prove their formidable strength and healing powers. Our planet, comprising mystical secrets and empowering energy, provides us with the very tools we need to be grounded and fulfilled. The best parts of life and love can never be found coming off a conveyor belt because, let’s be honest, both life and love are messy and unpredictable. Regardless of what’s wrapped beneath a shiny bow, it will never be enough to satiate our need to learn and grow and be moved. The moment we give ourselves over to something bigger than who we are, something more magical than stitched-together bits of nothing, we will gain deeper comprehension of the Universe. While some of us can find our innersanctum by simply closing our eyes and crossing our legs in Lotus pose, others want and need to travel to discover it. From continent to continent, the most precious of all gifts are given to us in the most beautiful and raw forms—crumbling ruins,

places of worship, and energy centers. The enrichment of experiencing new cultures and language are surely two benefits of travelling the world, but it’s the power of self-realization that we return home with that is the most valuable souvenir we could possibly find. <ORTH AMERICA – Mount Shasta, a spectacular, towering, 10,000-foot-tall peak located in northern California and part of the Cascades, is said to be a spiritual power point for those who visit her. With a long Native American history attached to the Klamath Tribes, it is believed that the mountain is inhabited by the Above-World spirit, Skell, who fell from the heavens at the request of the Klamath Chief. In 1987, as part of the Harmonic Convergence, a globallysynchronized meditation that closely followed the alignment of the sun, moon, and six planets, Mount Shasta became popular for being one of the few well-known power centers. Yogi Kanna, a spiritual and mediation practitioner, recommends visiting Mount Shasta during the warm summer months when her power, grace, and beauty are heightened by the sun.

SOUTH AMERICA – Deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, and voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a worldwide Internet poll in 2007, Machu Picchu was built in the mid-15th century and is believed to have served as an estate for Pachacuti, an Incan emperor. Situated on a ridge above the Sacred Valley, this Peruvian treasure has become the most acquainted icon of the Inca civilization. The Inti Watana, a grouping of rocks designed by the Incas to hold the sun in its place throughout each year, is just one of many South American groupings of ritual stones. Located in the first zone, along with the Temple of the Sun and the Room of the Three Windows, the Inti Watana is dedicated to the Inca’s greatest deity, the Sun God.

EUROPE – Poulnabrone Dolmen, one of Ireland’s most photographed megalithic structures, dates back the Neolithic period, somewhere between 4200 BC and 2900 BC. Known to most as The Hole of Sorrows, Poulnabrone Dolmen is a portal tomb made up of a thin, 12-foot-long capstone held six feet off the ground by two slender supporting stones. In 1985, following the discovery of a crack in the eastern portal stone, the dolmen was dismantled and an excavation revealed the burial of as many as 22 adults, six children, and an array of artifacts. Among the archeological finds were quartz crystals, a polished stone axe, a bone pendant, weapons, and pottery.

AUSTRALIA – Best viewed at sunrise and sunset when its usual terracotta color transforms to a shade of indigo, the monolith Ayers Rock, stands at a staggering 1,142 feet with most of its bulk still remaining underground. Also referred to as Uluru, Ayers Rock is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the surrounding area boasting natural springs, rock caves, and ancient paintings. Rich in Aboriginal history, there are many legends and myths set forth by the Aṉangu, the traditional landowners of Ayers Rock. Aboriginal teachings speak of Ayers Rock rising out of the earth after a long, bloody battle between two tribes while another account mentions two young boys who, after playing in mud and dirt, were preserved as boulders. Legend has it that those who remove rocks from the area will have a curse placed upon them.

The key energy points of mother earth. The earth, like the human body, has energy centers called chakras, physical locations super-charged with energy that keep all life in balance. Chakra is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning Wheel.

ASIA – Bodh Gaya, located in the southern state of Bihar, India, is the most important and holiest of four pilgrimage sites relating to the Buddhist faith. After renouncing his family at the age of 29 in 534 BC, Gautama Buddha travelled and meditated in search of truth. It was in Bodh Gaya, under the Bodhi Tree following six years of meditation, that Buddha is said to have reached enlightenment. Frequented by the Dalai Lama and other Buddhist religious heads, Bodh Gaya is not only recognized for being the pinnacle of historical faith but also one of modern day vibrancy.

It’s quite possible that Persian poet Moslih Eddin Saadi said it best: “A traveler without observation is a bird without wings.” The motivation for travel shouldn’t be singular—to sip endless coconut-infused cocktails under the shade of a towering palm. Instead we should return home with a greater sense of self, a greater sense of others, a greater sense of where we’ve been and where we are. When we liberate ourselves from the Everyday and give ourselves the time and ability to appreciate the Unexpected, only then have we reached our destination. Melissa MacDougall, Writer. Mother. Wife. Book Review Anita Moorjani’s Inspiring Book “Dying to Be Me”

By Katrin Geis t

ying to Be Me, a title seemingly belying the connection to renewal—then it isn’t. <ot expected to live, Anita Moorjani fully recovered from cancer after a four-year-long journey, the subject of her inspiring book. Today she travels the world, sharing her experience and the powerful conclusions coming from it.

Thoughts on “Dying to Be Me” Every once in a while a book comes along that touches you deeply. Anita Moorjani’s account of cancer, nearly dying, and recovering fully, when it was thought absolutely impossible, is mind bogglingly wonderful. Yes, sometimes one has to stretch grammar to describe good things. Not so much a review of content as a comment on the book’s impact, I’d like to share some thoughts on Anita’s book here.

September 27, 2015

Do you know that feeling when you attend a funeral, and any words you find fall short of what you want to say and how you feel inside? You wish to respect and support family members, yet nothing satisfactory comes out of your mouth. Not even close. I’ve certainly been there. Now this dilemma is solved by a book whose title could not be more apt. I’ll just take a copy of Dying to Be Me along, and let Anita do the talking to family members and close friends of the deceased person. If you lost a loved one lately, I highly recommend you read this book to perhaps help ease your grief. It won’t bring them back, yet your perspective and perception of the event may change and help you heal. This book is a great gift for sad occasions, or when someone is dealing with a major illness. And it does not have to be cancer. It’s easy to find inspiration in this book, from all sorts of angles. In fact, you

can be perfectly healthy and enjoy it just as much. Anita Moorjani’s words offer wisdom, hope, and inspiration. They offer a different view on life, our choices, on how society, culture, and belief systems shape us, and how their perception can contribute to illness. Not exactly a small topic, and it’s delivered in plain, simple, easy-to-read language that makes big concepts accessible. It’s also a very personal account of an almost four-year-long journey with cancer, up until what doctors thought was the irreversible end. Instead, while in a coma, Anita witnessed everything happening around her hospital bed from a higher vantage point, including conversations outside her room, and also her brother boarding a flight 1000s of miles away. What she concludes from her amazing near-death experience makes inspiring reading. Needless to say, this experience changed Anita’s life, and the lives of those around her. Doctors take great interest in her well documented case, because a cancer vanishing on this scale, when organs had already begun shutting down, and with lemon size tumors abounding, was simply unheard of and thought impossible. Now I love when boundaries get pushed and extended. To me, that’s the value of her story. It goes beyond what’s usually accepted as ‘real’, possible, and true. We all know stories of people who defied the odds though (and aren’t they delightful!?). Anita’s book serves a great many people with its invaluable message. It’s very liberating. After reading this account, my hope is that many people loosen their fear of death (and fear in general!), and that they may be able to adopt a different stance toward it. After all, change and physical death are the only things certain in life. Why fear them? Even more so when knowing that the essence of who you are is indestructible. Reconnective Healing shows me that aspect of ourselves every day. There really is nothing to be afraid of. Anita’s main message is: love yourself and live life fearlessly! I couldn’t agree more. Give yourself a hug every day. Be well and thoroughly fearless, especially in these times we live in. Love still is the greatest healer. Start with yourself! Watch Anita’s TEDx Talk, which sums up the essence of her book. Katrin Geist loves exploring the mysteries of life. Initially doing so as a biologist (MSc), she now devotes her time to helping clients regain and maintain their wellbeing through Reconnective Healing. Biophysics taught her the importance of a holistic approach to health. More and more, she begins to understand how energy, frequency, and information shape our lives—knowingly or not. I am Genie presents … Marianne Williamson & Deepak Chopra Interview with Joshua Dawson and Ingrid Thornhill from the I am Genie foundation By Teena Clips ton

Teena: Why the Genie outfit and mask?

E

Joshua: It wasn't a really conscious decision. It kind of just happened. Something inside me, that energy I was just referring to, told me to do it. So, I did.

nlightenment flows from the love of those who found it before us. They shed their light on the path of awareness, and they give us strength to see the glory in us all. There is no greater deed than that. It is an education of the soul and heart that resonates with who we really are. It bears no church, no leader, no organizational dependence, and the only rules that make it viable are those which nature intended. It is the art of loving, and we are blessed to have many teachers among us to remind us of our path. This is what flows to my mind when I think of the great spiritual speakers and authors in our midst. This October, residents of British Columbia will have the opportunity to participate in inspirational lectures from both Marianne Williamson and Deepak Chopra, I am Genie Wishes Fulfilled events. Spiritual speaker and author Marianne Williamson will be gracing the stage of the Kelowna Community Theatre October 1, and then at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage in Vancouver October 4. Marianne has published eleven books, six of which have been on the Hew York Times best sellers list. Her latest works include A Year of Miracles and A Return to Love. She will be discussing how to turn love into a collective force for good at these BC lectures. Deepak Chopra, M.D, author and lecturer, is well known for his avocation of alternative medicine and for promoting popular forms of spirituality. Deepak is the author of more than 80 books, including 22 on the Hew York Times best sellers list. He will be appearing in Victoria on October 10 to discuss higher health based on the latest findings in both mainstream and alternative medicine. These events were made possible by two very special individuals that form the face of the I am Genie foundation, Joshua Dawson and Ingrid Thornhill. These two inspirational individuals gave up the life they were accustomed to and made a leap into the unknown to spread good deeds, grant wishes, and vibrate love. They have been on this mission of giving since 2009, which soon after started with a wish granting driving tour from Montreal to Miami, from Miami to LA, and from LA to Vancouver… with about 40 stop of wish making on the way. The I am Genie foundation was then formed. The mission was simple: to serve others, and to inspire others to be like a genie to grant a wish for someone in need. Serve yourself and the world by serving others. The wish granting soon turned to producing numerous life changing, inspirational lecture events, with great names such as the late Dr. Wayne Dyer, Jack Canfield, James Van Praagh, Gabrielle Berstein, as well as Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson. The lectures give you the tools to bring more awareness into your own life, while changing the lives of others as 100% of profits from ticket sales help grant future wishes. I personally was drawn to Joshua’s message that he shared on I am Genie’s website: “We hope to illuminate. Show that there is another way to live, if that’s your desire. One full of inspiration, hope, fun, light,

Teena: You have raised over $1 million worth of wishes. How did you raise the money to grant all of these wishes? Where do you find the people that you help? Ingrid: It’s all about rallying the community together to make dreams come true, so a lot of the experiences are in kind donations from people who want to pay it forward. The events that we have also play a huge role in allowing us to continue to grant wishes. We receive so many emails from people all over, requesting a wish for a loved one and sometimes we reach out to other organizations to help us find someone within their community. Teena: What kinds of wishes do you grant? What was the most unique wish that you have granted so far?

One that you’ll be proud of when it’s all said and done.” - Joshua Dawson With that message as inspiration, I set out to interview these remarkable, loving people. And so I introduce to you Ingrid Thornhill and Joshua Dawson. Teena: What was the pivotal moment in your life when you decided you wanted to give everything up and dedicate your life to serving others? Ingrid: We were living in Montreal when the Genie came to life. Soon it became both of our dreams and it just felt right to let go of everything, and completely devote our lives to finding people across North America that we could surprise, one city at a time. Teena: Josh, your bio says you wished to show people there is another way to live. Can you explain the importance of this? Do you feel most people are not living in their true potential? Joshua: I believe there is a power within each and every one of us that is more powerful than we can possibly imagine. It's the energy that connects us all through our breath and something that we sometimes tap into during mediation and other “in the moment” experiences. We all have the ability to evolve more into this every day. Our wish grants attempt to help with this process. Teena: How was the transitional stage from

Ingrid: Everything from practicing with the LA Clippers to flying in a fighter jet. When it comes to wishes, the sky is the limit. The most unique was granting 30 wishes in three days. That was the most we have ever done and it was just incredible! The family we surprised had their wedding vows renewed by Marianne Williamson, who had married them decades before. It was so emotional!

Teena: How did granting wishes turn into hosting these amazing seminars with speakyour old lifestyle to this new fantastic idea ers Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, of going on the road to help others? What Marianne Williamson, and James Van were the highs and lows? Praagh? Ingrid: “Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light.” A quote by Yogi Bhajan, that soon became our Mantra. We were so excited to just let go of all the things we owned and be on the road spreading some light. But the downside of being on the road for six years is the birthdays you miss, or when you can’t be there when someone you love gets sick. That is very hard. I remember when my friends were so excited about the book, 50 Shades of Grey. I would say, “Try 50 pounds or less, now that’s hot.”

Joshua: We were planning to grant a wish in Detroit with Wayne Dyer and it was cancelled. So, I asked Wayne to come to St John’s, NL for an event, and he said yes. The rest, is history. Teena: Do you think this is something everyone can do in a small way? How can other people get involved in granting wishes?

Ingrid: My mom used to say to me whenever I was feeling down, “Go out and volunteer somewhere.” There is no better feeling then a simple act of kindness. Whether it’s feeding the homeless or helping an elder Teena: When you first began the driving cross the street. f you are like most people, your first morning thoughts – and, most likely, those you create throughout your day – are not along the lines of, how relaxed and allowing can I be with everything I encounter? or how can I release into the reality of this moment more fully with no expectation? Most likely, it is quite the opposite. Chances are, if you are like most people, your dominating thoughts are rather opposite to these, and more along the lines of, how can I manipulate my character or that of the situation I find myself in today to allow me to have more of what I want, and less of what I don’t want? Basically: How can I control what I am going to be experiencing?

We are all doing this most of the time, as we are attempting, with great futility, to find security in a world that is unpredictable, impermanent, and innately fragile despite our best efforts to plan for and solidify it. We have been collectively conditioned – and perhaps we just haven’t learned better yet – to believe that as individuals we exist to make things all work out the way we want them to. This is our human mythology, and a story that seems to be increasing in intensity over time (in direct correlation with increased separation from our surroundings, interestingly enough). Perhaps it is because of our social and technological development that we have convinced ourselves we are powerful enough to understand the universe and our place in it, and so are well-armed to predict and control it. This mythology is pervasive, defining and orienting every aspect of our experience here. We constantly seek control in this life, forever coming up with ideas of how something needs to be in order for us to be satisfied, and telling ourselves that we can somehow make it happen without a doubt.

September 27, 2015

But have you ever asked yourself why you do this—why you seek to control it all? And whether this might be the best way to go about living your life? Do you really have to spend that much time worrying about and attempting to plan the future when there is, truly, no way you could control for every variable that might present itself? And, really, how could you fully know what would be best for you? Buddhists say we are caught in two human basic desires: the desire for happiness, and the desire for security. The desire for happiness causes us to define what will and what won’t make us happy, and then attempt to get and not get, respectively, what those things are. Our desire for security causes us to seek sameness and predictability, and to attempt to control the outcomes of our lives so we don’t ever have to be hurt or scared. This (often called ‘neurotic’) approach to such desires results only in seeking further control: attempting to arrange life in a way that seems pleasing to who we are at that moment, and never actually finding happiness or security in a lasting manner. The alternative to control, and to this too-often chosen path of attempting to find happiness and security through increasing control, is surrender. Spiritual surrender. It is a two-fold path wherein we choose to have happiness in every moment, no matter what the circumstance, and recognize that faith in our process is the only lasting ‘security’ we could ever achieve in this life: the logical belief that all things are happening as they should. Michael Singer, author of The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment writes about this concept, as have countless philosophers throughout time, from Confucious to Marcus Aurelius and the Stoics. Each of these brilliant minds has come to the same conclusion that the Buddha did, recognizing that the practice of trying to make life – and ourselves, and other people – fit into a predetermined set of expectations is not the path to happiness, but rather the only way to make sure we are never totally fulfilled.

Not to mention that we are living life from a very limited vantage point when we’re thinking we know what we want and like. Even engaging with the practice of ‘manifestation’– focusing our energy on creating something that we think will be good for us – can be a practice grounded in the desire to control, because who are we to say we know what might be the best for us? How can we begin to know what is going to cross our paths at any point? All of these previous thinkers have suggested there is a process at hand in all of us, and in all of everything, and that process – the very same that drives a seed to become a tree and an embryo to become a fetus – does not need conscious direction from anything to occur. All things, all processes, ourselves included, have a perfection to them that need not be nor truly cannot be forced or controlled. As Singer has said, “The truth is that most of life will unfold in accordance with forces far outside your control, regardless of what your mind says about it.” And so what do we do? Given conscious will and the ability to ‘control’ the choices we make every day, how do we utilize the practice of surrender as a pathway to peace and spiritual growth? According to all of these Masters, we let go. We welcome every moment as it happens as exactly what should be happening, no matter what it looks like, and assume what is being presented is what we need. We release expectation and our attachment to outcome in favor of a presentminded awareness and openness. We choose to be happy in every moment no matter what it looks like, and find the only security we need in trusting the process that is behind everything. Only here can we be truly free. The Influence Vedic Philosophy had on Nikola Tesla’s Idea of Free Energy By Arjun Walia

T

he Properties of Space

Science works best when in harmony with nature. If we put these two together, we can discover great technologies that can only come about when the consciousness of the planet is ready to embrace them. One example is “free energy,” also known as “zero-point energy,” which utilizes the substance that exists all around us and converts it into usable energy. This would give us a limitless source of energy, and would practically wipe out all poverty on the planet (more on this later). The properties of space have been postulated by many, from ancient Vedic philosophy, Eastern Mystics, various ancient civilizations throughout human history, all the way to Descartes, Einstein, Newton, and more. Humans are curious beings, and our quest to discover “what is” will never end. “And they allowed Apollonius to ask questions; and he asked them of what they thought the cosmos was composed; but they replied; “Of elements.” “Are there then four?” he asked. “Not four,” said Larchas, “but five.” “And how can there be a fifth,” said Apollonius, “alongside of water and air and earth and fire?” “There is the ether,” replied the other, “which we must regard as the stuff of which gods are made; for just as all mortal creatures inhale the wire, so do immortal and divine natures inhale the ether.” “Am I,” said Appollonius, “to regard the universe as a living creature?” “Yes,” said the other. – The Life of Apollonius of Tyana, Philostratus, 220AD Science now knows that a material universe as the foundation of what we perceive to be our physical material world isn’t quite the case. Today, physicists recognize that physical atoms are actually made up of vortices of energy that are constantly spinning and vibrating. At its smallest observable level, matter is energy, and this energy that exists all around us can be tapped into and possibly used to generate power. Quantum physics has left many scientists baffled; again, the discovery that our physical material reality isn’t really physical at all can be quite confusing. Scientists began to explore the relationship between energy and the structure of matter at the turn of the 19th century. This is approximately the time when the idea of a Newtonian material universe was dropped from the heart of scientific knowing, and replaced by the fact that matter is nothing but an illusion, that everything in the universe is made out of energy. “If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet. Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real.” – Niels Bohr, physicist Again, if you observed the composition of an atom with a microscope, you would see a small, invisible tornado like-vortex, with a number of infinitely small energy

Page 22

A photograph of Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) at age 40 Photo credit: Wikimedia commons / public domain vortices called quarks and photons. These are what make up the structure of the atom. As you focused in closer and closer on the structure of the atom, you would see nothing. You would observe a physical void. The atom has no physical structure, we have no physical structure, physical things really don’t have any physical structure. Atoms are made out of invisible energy, not tangible matter. “Despite the unrivalled empirical success of quantum theory, the very suggestion that it may be literally true as a description of nature is still greeted with cynicism, incomprehension, and even anger.” (T. Folger, “Quantum Shmantum”; Discover 22:37-43, 2001) “Get over it, and accept the inarguable conclusion. The universe is immaterialmental and spiritual.” – R.C. Henry, Professor of physics and astronomy at Johns Hopkins University. Tesla and Ancient Vedic Philosophy and the Properties of Space We’ve seen a very interesting trend (especially within the past decade) of modern-day science catching up to an ancient understanding about the true nature of reality, its make-up, how it functions, and how

we can work with it to bring about change on our planet. For anybody to label the merging of ‘spirituality’ and science as pseudoscience means they have not properly investigated it. Spiritual concepts of our ancient world are directly intertwined with modern-day science, more so quantum physics, and Nikola Tesla was well aware of this. “All perceptible matter comes from a primary substance, or tenuity beyond conception, filling all space, the akasha or luminiferous ether, which is acted upon by the life giving Prana or creative force, calling into existence, in never-ending cycles, all things and phenomena.”– Nikola Tesla, Man’s Greatest Achievement, 1907. As you can see, Tesla was aware of ancient concepts and the correlation they had with the science he was working on— using Sanskrit worlds like “akasha,” and “prana” to describe the force and matter that exists all around us. These words come from the Upanishads (a collection of Vedic texts). “The aakaash is not destructible, it is the primordial absolute substratum that creates cosmic matter and hence the properties of aakaash are not found in the material properties that are in a sense relative. perfluid reality, for which creation and destruction are inapplicable.” – (Idham thadhakshare parame vyoman. Parame vyoman) – Paramahamsa Tewari, engineer, physicist and inventor. Nikola Tesla had correlations with Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), who was one of the most famous and influential spiritual leaders of the philosophies of Vedanta (one of the six schools of Hindu philosophy, the term originally referred to the upanishads, a collection of philosophical texts in Hinduism) and Yoga. He was the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the founder of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. He is a giant figure in the history of the Hindu reform movements. Vivekananda wrote a later to Tesla in the late 1800s stating: “Mr. Tesla thinks he can demonstrate mathematically that force and matter are reducible to potential energy. I am to go and see him next week to get this new mathematical demonstration. In that case the Vedantic cosmology will be placed on the surest of foundations. I am working a good deal now upon the cosmology and eschatology of the Vedanta. I clearly see their perfect union with modern science, and the elucidation of the one will be followed by that of the other.” – Swami Vivekananda (Complete Works, VOL. V, Fifth Edition, 1347, p. 77). Tesla began using the Sanskrit words after meeting with Swami, and after studying the Eastern view of the true nature of reality, about the mechanisms that drive the material world. Eventually, it led him to the basis for the wireless transmission of electrical power, what is known as the Tesla Coil Transformer. During this year, before he familiarized himself with the Vedic sincere of the eastern nations of India, Tibet, and Nepal, he made the following comments during a speech before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers: “Ere many generations pass, our machinery will be driven by a power obtainable at any point in the universe. This idea is not novel… We find it in the delightful myth of Antheus, who derives power from the earth; we find it among subtle speculations of one of your splendid mathematicians… Throughout space there is energy. Is this energy static, or kinetic? If static our hopes are in vain; if kinetic – and this we know it is, for certain – then it is a mere question of time when men will succeed in attaching their machinery to the very wheel work of nature.” – Nikola Tesla The Vedas are a group of writings that consist of hymns, prayers, myths, historical accounting, science, and the nature of reality. They date back at least 5,000 years, and are not so different from other ancient texts that dive into the same matters from all across the globe. The language used is Sanskrit and its origins are unknown. “Swami Vivekananda was hopeful that Tesla would be able to show that what we call matter is simply potential energy because that would reconcile the teachings of the Vedas with modern science. The Swami realized that in that case,

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” - Nikola Tesla the Vedantic cosmology (would) be placed on the surest of foundations. Tesla understood the Sanskrit terminology and philosophy and found that it was a good means to describe the physical mechanisms of the universe as seen through his eyes. It would behoove those who would attempt to understand the science behind the inventions of Nikola Tesla to study Sanskrit and Vedic philosophy.” – Toby Grotz, president, Wireless Engineering. Apparently, Tesla was unable to show the identity of energy and matter. This did not come until Albert Einstein published his paper on relativity, which was known in the East for the last 5,000 years. “All the powers in the universe are already ours. It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.” – Swami Vivekananda Tesla’s vision of the wireless transmission of electricity and free energy has been postponed for almost one hundred years now. Which brings us to our next topic. What We Know <ow (Today) About Free Energy “These concepts have been proven in hundreds of laboratories throughout the world and yet they have not really seen the light of day. If these technologies were to be set free worldwide, the change would be profound. It would be applicable everywhere. These technologies are absolutely the mo s t i mp or ta nt thi ng tha t have happened in the history of the world.” – Brian O’leary, former NASA astronaut and Princeton physics professor. They are mainstream ideas being published in mainstream physics journals and being taken seriously by mainstream military and NASA type funders. I’ve been taken out on aircraft carriers by the Navy and shown what it is we have to replace if we have new energy sources to provide new fuel methods.” – Dr. Harold E. Puthoff “Back in about 1964 a researcher at the Hughes Laboratory by the name of Robert

This is what Tesla was talking about when he said man would, “attach their machinery to the very wheel work of nature.” It’s Time For A Change Our current methods for extracting energy are destroying Earth. They are destroying the environment and its people, and creating conflict. We are rapidly approaching a time (if not already in that time) where we need to implement systems to eliminate the use of fossil fuels. I hope that this article, and the ones linked within it, show you that this is possible. If you are further interested in this subject, you can check out Michael Faraday, Bruce DePalma, Paramahamsa Tewari, and more. Energy source transitions do not happen over night. It took us 100 years to transfer from wood to coal, and another 100 years to move from coal to oil. But the next energy transition must happen quicker than previous ones, and it must include free energy. “No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway from the human spirit.” – Helen Keller “The day science begins to study nonphysical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.” – Nikola Tesla. I joined the Collective Evolution team in 2010 shortly after finishing university and have been grateful for the fact that I have been able to do this ever since. There are many things happening on the planet that don't resonate with me, and I wanted to do what I could to play a role in creating change. It's been great making changes in my own life and creating awareness and I look forward to more projects that move beyond awareness and into action and implementation. So stay tuned. The

Vedas

T

he Vedas (/ˈveɪdəz, ˈviː-/; Sa ns kr i t: वेद v é d a , "knowledge") are a large body of texts originating in ancient India. Composed in Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. Hindus consider the Vedas to be apauruṣeya, which means "not of a man, superhuman" and "impersonal, authorless." Vedas are also called śruti ("what is heard") literature, distinguishing them from other religious texts, which are called smṛti ("what is remembered"). The Veda, for orthodox Indian theologians, are considered revelations, some way or other the work of the Deity. In the Hindu Epic the Mahabharata, the creation of Vedas is credited to Brahma. There are four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda, and the Atharvaveda. Each Veda has been subclassified into four major text types – the Samhitas (mantras and benedictions), the Aranyakas (text on rituals, ceremonies, sacrifices, and symbolic sacrifices), the Brahmanas (commentaries on rituals, ceremonies, and sacrifices), and the Upanishads (text discussing meditation, philosophy, and spiritual knowledge). Some scholars add fifth category – the Upasanas (worship). The various Indian philosophies and denominations have taken differing positions on the Vedas. Schools of Indian philosophy which cite the Vedas as their scriptural authority are classified as "orthodox" (āstika). Other śramaṇa traditions, suc h as Lokayata, Carvaka, Ajivika, Buddhism, and Jainism, which did not regard the Vedas as authorities are referred to as "heterodox" or "non-orthodox" (nāstika) schools. Despite their differences, just like śramaṇa traditions, various Hindu traditions dwell on, express, and teach similar ideas such as karma (retributive action), and moksha (liberation) in the fourth layer of the Vedas – the Upanishads. https://e n. wiki pedi a.o rg/ wiki/ Ved as (Creative Commons Attribution— ShareAlike License)

In response, the sage asked the king how he would convey the taste of a mango to someone who had never eaten anything sweet. No matter how hard the king tried, he could not adequately describe the flavour of the fruit, and, in frustration, he demanded of the sage "Tell me then, how would you describe it?" The sage picked up a mango and handed it to the king saying, "This is very sweet. Try eating it!” — Hindu teaching story

THE 2020 VISION & DECLARATION FOR THE OKA<AGA< VALLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CA<ADA TO BECOME 100% ORGA<IC BY THE YEAR 2020

WE HEREBY WITHESS THE OKAHAGAH VALLEY TO BE A WILDERHESS TREASURE AHD HEREBY DECLARE IT TO BE A DIAMO D O OUR EMERALD PLA ET FOR ALL TO BEHOLD. We, the undersigned, do hereby declare the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada, a unique, highly fragile agricultural and residential region that is threatened and endangered. We hereby declare that we shall transition all of our lawns, gardens, municipal areas, parks, school playgrounds, sports and recreational areas, orchards, vineyards, and farms of all kinds, to certified organic practices celebrating full community participation by the year 2020, with progress reports on creating this world model upon each of the four solstice and equinox dates. We understand that in nature we are all interconnected, we live by and for each other, one whole living entity that includes all there is. Our highest intention is the perpetuation and protection for all on our planet. “Anywhere grapes grow is the ideal place for us humans to live” ~ Anonymous

Whereas: Our 135-km-long Okanagan Lake supplies a large portion of the region’s drinking water, and has one of the slowest Klein Systems, clearing itself only every 80 years. It has for decades been surrounded by mountainous wilderness for hundreds of kilometers in every direction, creating a unique and pristine agricultural oasis. This highly vulnerable and delicate eco-system has been historically protected by the original stewards, the Okanagan Indigenous Peoples. It is now crying for regeneration from the relentless unnatural blows of the present population explosion.

Whereas: The Okanagan Valley is the northernmost viticulture area in the world, with the least amount of pests of any region in the world, making it the easiest to achieve organic transition.

Whereas: The economic rewards and sustainability of growing organic are now proven positive, thanks in great part to worldwide enthusiasm. Statistics are showing huge market share leaps in the consumption of organic foods and beverages. As well, organic farms are now demonstrating that organic practices are cost effective.

Whereas: Organic growing and consumption is the foundation of proactive healthy living versus reactive practices and treatments. The plants remain naturally resistant to disease under a holistic program just as we humans become our healthiest with daily exercise and by consuming organic foods and beverages.

Whereas: Organic wine is the single fastest growing segment in the wine industry worldwide. The fledgling yet already world famous Okanagan Valley will become a model for the world, demonstrating harmony with Mother Nature and opening the opportunity for everyone in the valley to flourish. Tourism and all businesses will boom, representing abundance that is the world's natural heritage. Health statistics and vitality levels will be vastly improved and well-noted. Therefore, in highest intention, we the undersigned heed this

The Homestead Organic Farm By Tony Hetman

O

ver 30 years ago, Joe and Jessica Klein purchased a piece of land near Peachland, in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The Kleins wanted to grow, eat, and sell food that was grown without the assistance of pesticides and che mically engineered fertilizers. Hence, The Homestead Organic Farm came into existence. The road ahead proved to be a long one as Joe’s past experience was basic. He did know how to grow his own vegetables, and in that process learned to build soil by blending its basic components. However, managing a farm, dealing with the weather, and making a living at it, together with all of the other joys of farming presented innumerable challenges in the years to come. Originally, part of the newly acquired land was hayed using conventional fertilizers. For fertilizer, the couple switched to cured organic horse manure provided by their horses, and they broke virgin land for their fruit trees and vegetable gardens. In addition to the land, Joe and Jessica had to purchase a rototiller, greenhouses, fencing, and a packing shed. This is indeed a modest investment when compared to the additional costs non-organic farmers incur for pesticide spray equipment and fertilizer spreaders. Today, to organically enrich the soil they practice good soil management and improved fertility by adding horse manure, mulch, and cover cropping. (Cover crops are intentionally sown plants, usually specific annual, biennial, or perennial grasses and/or legumes, grown to cover the soil surface.) This cover crop is then tilled into the soil as a green manure crop. Moreover, they rotate their crops on an annual basis. (Crop rotation is the successive planting of different crops on the same land.) Moreover, similar pests are known to attack plants from the same taxonomic family. Consequently, by changing crops, the soil is enhanced by reducing the number of pests. To further enhance the richness of the soil, they introduce several species of earth worms which help to increase the amount of air and water that gets into the soil. Earth worms also fertilize the land by breaking down organic matter and leaving behind their casings. Today, after several years of enriching the soil, it is in excellent condition. Their crops consist of mixed vegetables, fruit trees, berries, nuts, salad greens, and hay for livestock. Their farm has good southern sun exposure, and is geographically sheltered from the neighbours. They have

Of course, this would hold true for any type of farming. To avoid pesticides and to keep pests at bay, the Kleins find that it is most important to pay close attention to the condition of the crops and to use manual control methods. Encouraging predatory insects and maintaining soil health and balance, together with knowing when to water or not is also important to successful healthy production. They also occasionally spray with Safer® soap. Although the Kleins’ farming practices may differ from those of surrounding neighbours, they are accepted into the community as legitimate farmers, albeit small scale. There is sometimes confusion about being organic vs. certified organic. According to Jessica, The Homestead Organic Farm is certified organic and, she adds, “It is an important label and necessary in order to sell to our markets. We do

feel we need to ensure that the organic label maintains its integrity.” To be certified organic, it is important that the land is not located next to farms that spray with pesticides, as the spray can drift. According to Jessica and Joe, their land is not affected by any sprays. To further promote organic farming, the Kleins are involved with their organic certification group, which is overseen and promoted by a provincial body. When asked if it takes more physical work to run an organic farm as opposed to a farm that uses pesticides and nonorganic fertilizers, their answer was immediate: “Absolutely.” Farming by hand is demanding and consists of long hours stooped over the land with hand equipment or bare hands. Sometimes, one forgets the romance of working the land with your hands after gruelling days of sun beating down on your body. Aside from the hard work, the obvious question is, can one make a living at organic farming? According to the Kleins,

www.alloneeramag.com

organic farming is competitive, but there is a market. They are able to sell their harvest at farmers’ markets, as well as to chefs, local supermarkets, health food stores, and individual customers. They also include value added products such as garlic braids, dried herbs, herb vinegar, jams, and frozen berries to their marketable goods. Organic farming may not be for everyone. But it is about choosing a lifestyle that brings you closer to the land. It is about growing and eating healthy food. It is also about hard physical work and being held hostage by the weather. Joe and Jessica have been at it for over 30 years, a testimony to the fact that such a lifestyle can pay the bills and cover the necessities of life. When asked if further expansion is in their plans for The Homestead Organic Farm, the Kleins say they have expanded as much as they want to. Indeed, with expansion comes cost, and the pros and cons must be seriously considered. These two organic farmers are happy with their business as it is, and are not interested in becoming large scale producers. Over the past 40 years, a lot of young people have been leaving their family farms for other ventures. But Jessica and Joe say many young people without agricultural backgrounds are coming into farming. The Kleins do not have a family to carry on the business of organic farming. However, they continue to support and encourage young people to become farmers. In fact, they continue to make their farm available to such young people. Currently, they have a young couple, Jordan and Vanessa, who arrived at the The Homestead Organic Farm on New Year's Day, 2011. They run an organic market garden on the farm and work with Joe and Jessica on general farm management. Their tenure at the homestead follows a season-long bicycle-tour of farms in Oregon, California, and Eastern Canada, and two years at Ragley Farm on Vancouver Island. As I steer my vehicle down the driveway of this small certified organic farm I am reminded of my childhood growing up on a farm in northern British Columbia. Not so much because of the similarity of the farming practices, but because of the quiet serenity of farm life. I throw my cellphone into the back seat, bite into my certified organically grown apple, and reflect on the past and future of farming.
