Hearts Around the World

A Class Project: Hearts Around the World Dear Parents, Kindergarten is participating in an exciting project called Hearts Around the World.

This project is centered around social studies standards of learning (SOL) in which the students use simple maps and globes to become aware of the physical shape of the states. Because students have many parents or relatives in other countries, we will look at the world map, too.

We have a large map of the United States and of the world, and want to receive a valentine from each state and as many countries as possible.

Each time we receive a valentine, we will color in or put a sticker on that state or country from which it is sent. Our goal is to have the whole U.S. map and many countries on the world map colored in by February 14th.

We would like for you to send the attached letter to family or friends who live in another state or country. If you need more than one copy of the attached letter, please let us know so we can give you more. You may also email family and friends to ask for their help in our project. Let us know if you want us to send you an electronic letter to attach to your e-mail.

Please send the attached letter out as soon as possible so there will be enough time for the valentines to reach us by February 14th. The students in our classes will eagerly wait to see how many of the fifty states and different countries will be colored on our map.
