KEY CLUB PLEDGE I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

Understanding the Key Club chapter, Kiwanis and the Key Club district
Every Key Club chapter has a Kiwanis sponsor that they can consult. Kiwanis clubs have a lot of experience serving their communities, so they are an invaluable resource for Key clubs. Some Kiwanis clubs even have special resources for key Clubbers, such as scholarships. Editors/ Secretaries submit monthly reports to the Key Club district their Key club chapter is under. Key club chapters also participate in LEDCON through the Key Club district. Communicating and working with the Key club District makes an immense amount of opportunity available to key clubbers, including grants, scholarships, leadership positions, awards and much more!

Key Club International has worked to raise
Key Club teams up with the Thirst money for March of Dimes since 1978 and project to bring clean water wells to continues the partnership to raise awareness those in need of potable water in third and funds for the health of mothers and babies world countries in order to help end global water crisis.
Key Club supports the Kiwanis family and UNICEF to help mothers and babies through the eliminate project, which works to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus around the world.
Key club members across the country work with Children's miracle network to raise funds for hospitals, hospitalized children and others who need medical attentions
PARTNERS UNICEF is the only organization of the United Nations dedicated exclusively to children. Working with other United Nations bodies, governments and nongovernmental organizations, UNICEF helps to provide for children's needs in more than 150 developing countries through community-based services in primary health care, basic education and safe water and sanitation
Landscape Structures (LSI) has joined Kiwanis International as a vison partner to bring play to communities across the globe. LSI is proud to provide high-quality commercial playground equipment and planning consultation services that reflect the high degree of integrity that Kiwanis clubs expect.
Project happiness inspires and empowers club memebers o create greater happiness within themselves and their communities addressing the bullying issue at its core. The Key Club Guide to Project Happiness shares excercises, discussions, games and tools based on Neuroscience, Positive Psychology and Mindfulness to rewrite the brain for happiness.
Kiwanis Gives Online is powered by Access Development, a teamfriendly crowdfunding platform just for key club. IT specializes in helping your club achieve its fundraising goals through a convenient turnkey, online fundraising service. Kiwanis Gives Online not only creates and manages your entire campaign(s), but also provides a reward to anyone making a donation.

Several Key club members helped out regional Kiwanis members with flag routes around Allen, Plano and Mckinney. Members worked to set up and take down the flags before and after during June and July. Key club officers filled out thank you baskets filled with gratitude and goodies for first responders to show them how much they are appreciated. Members wrote birthday cards to children in the Samaritan Inn to remind them that they are loved and cared for during this pandemic.

How to log service hours

September service hour form is due TODAY BY 11:59 pm! At the end of each 9 weeks, we will give you access to all the monthly hour forms that you submitted, so that you can see your progress DO NOT submit every individual service that you do on x2vol, you will submit them onto x2vol at the end of the 9 weeks

SINCERELY, THE ALLEN KEY CLUB BOARD
This year's meeting schedule is a little bit different from last year's due to COVID-19 circumstances where students are managing both in school and at home learning. The business meetings are on the 1st thursdays of every month. There will be two sessions with session 1 starting a 3:20 and session 2 starting at 4:45. The business meetings are the main meetings where we go over important information of the month. You can earn 30 minutes of service hours for attending this meeting. Catch- up meetings are on the 3rd thrusdays on every month where we recap the slides and information from the business meeting. Feel free to ask questions during this meeting about services, donations, fees or anything you need to know about. You can earn 30 minutes for attending this catch up meetings too.

The different types of services

In Allen High School, the Board has designed its services to be of different categories, and today I am going to talk about the different types of services we have in Key club on a monthly basis.
So firstly we have small services such as making thank you cards for our teachers or making thank you cards to school staff etc. Usually in these services we work on small pieces of handwritten notes that can usually be done individually and is distributed by the board members or some fellow Key club members amongst the target recipients. The second type of service we have is the bigger local ones where we work with a lot of members from the club and collaboration is needed in these services. Not only is it extremely essential to cooperate with the board members and other peers during scuh services, it is also important to keep yourself in check while working on such services because one person’s mistake could cause a defect in our service. Services such as making gift bags for the YOF project, donation bags to the samaritan inn etc. are some examples of such services. The third type of service that occurs monthly is club donations. Every month , the board sends out reminders and emails with the list of the donation items and goods we will be collecting for the month to send to local shelters and such. Usually donation items include non perishables, toothpaste, general food items and personal hygiene items for the residents of the local shelters. Everyone in the club is expected to be participating in these donations as it is an easy way to reach out to the community by just donating some of your basic household food or hygiene items. The fourth and the biggest one are the services that have an international impact such as Kids against hunger. Services such as these are impactful across the globe and they almost always require the whole club’s effort. Usually all members have to present in such huge services as much help is needed and work has to be done in a short time with much cooperation from everyone.
All services have an impact on the world, no matter how big or how small. The board at Allen High school just tries to make sure we are doing the best we can to ensure efforts towards al types of community service .

The school year is almost coming to an end, prom is coming up, seniors are going to graduate and juniors will have finished their hardest school year. Due to COVID, this school year felt like it didn't happen at all, as if we are still in summer 2020 quarantine.And with that, some of our older board members, including me, are leaving their place to their younger counterparts. As April has already started, we have around two more months as seniors at Allen High School. Me, anh nguyen (webmaster), and Rishitha garlapati (club president) will all be leaving for college next semester, so before we leave it is our responsibility to teach our younger ones how to maintain and work through their club responsibilities. We have been teaching them through board meetings and personal phone calls, and they are also fast learners as they are catching on quicker then we could’ve. I am currently training the new editor to be, Elias, and he does a great job at giving me article ideas, taking pictures for the slides and helping out with the newsletter. We recently had a service which was a gift assembly for the YOF project. It was great because the new board members got a chance to work with the older board members and they worked as a team. The new members got a taste of what it is like to be the people in charge of the club during a service and the older board members got a chance to know who they will be working with next year. Not only was this service beneficial to the board in getting to know each other, it was also a bit nostalgic since it is a reminder to the older members that their time is coming to an end. I still remember when it was the season of dalgona coffee and quarantine workout, and we were hoping to go back to school in 2021, but that time is long gone now. During COVID it was hard to realize how time was flying by as it still felt like summer, but this year was an experience for growth for sure. I felt good knowing I will be leaving my responsibilities to a lid that would do my job with the same if not more passion that I did. Tis the season of transition at Allen High school Key club.
14 We are all aware of the rising COVID 19 cases, and it is important for us to stay safe-both mentally and physically- during these tough times. Here are some tips on how to stay healthy during COVID 19 while going back to school, regardless of wether you choose to stay home or attend in person school. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Put 6 feet of distance between yourself and people who don’t live in your household.Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread virus. Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks. Be alert for symptoms. Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19. Try your best to find an outlet from the stress of COVID 19, this could be a newfoud hobby such as cooking, reading, drawing etc. You can also take up new habits such as running, yoga etc. It is very easy to slip into a spiral of laziness when overstressed and the situation in the world right now is just enough to overstress anyone. Try to get up, take a walk around the house, clean your closet, declutter your studyind desk etc. Last but not least, remember that all you have to do during a pandemic is to survive, so take care of yourself and practice safety for others around you.

This is my second year on the key club board and third year in key club. Some of my duties as president include increasing membership within our club, organizing and conducting meetings, and communicating important information to all our members. Aside from key club, I am also a part of chamber orchestra and do archery. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to address them! Even though our situation with at-home learning and COVID-19 still persists, we have many opportunities to keep our service going! I can’t wait for another amazing year with key club!

Anh Nguyen- Webmaster Hi guys! I'm Anh and I will serve our club as a webmaster. Before this school year, webmaster wasn't an official position for our division in Allen so the job of representing the club through social media was being divided between the board members. However, this year we are doing things differently by letting just one member focusing on the social media aspect of the club. I will give out my best effort to update as frequent as I could and give out the best pictures that represent our club as a whole. Throughout my 2 years of being apart of this lovely community, I learn that volunteering activities are not restricted into one specific type but rather can be observed through many different lenses. Hey Eagles! My name is Katy Kostandy and I’m SO proud to be one of your SPC members for the 2020-2021 school year! I’m currently a senior, and this will be my third year as a key club member.
