Michael D. Miller My father was in the retail business with Mercantile Stores for 40 years. He owned 16 chains of department stores across America. About 10 years ago, they were bought out by another major chain.
Not only did I watch my father wear, shine, and have his shoes recrafted, they were a symbol of pride everywhere he walked. He also taught me discipline and pride in taking care of my belongings. Every Wednesday and Saturday, I watched my father take his shoes downstairs to shine. My father always told me he could tell the kind of man you were by the way you took care of your shoes. I was especially pleased that Allen Edmonds brought back the McAllister from the Timeless Classics Collection, which reminds me so much of my father every time I put them on. In my 25 years of professional life, I have only worn Allen Edmonds shoes. Today, I have 5 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes in my closet and am grateful to Allen Edmonds for saving one of the fondest memories I have of my father and my past.
