A 10-minute sequence shown by New Line at the recent Comic-Con fantasy convention and elsewhere has been well received, and the studio is waiting for a script from Hossein Amini (“Killshot”) for a second film, based on the second book, “The Subtle Knife.” Chris said that whether that film is made, and whether he ends up directing it, will depend heavily on how “The Golden Compass” performs. “My whole plan with the movie has been not to think past December 7th,” he said. “Otherwise I would go completely insane.” last year was a Howard Hughes fellow at Rockefeller University, where she was studying genetic risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Peter is the founder and managing director of Richmond Management, an investment management and venture capital fund in New York. He is also a founder of Endeavor, a nonprofit organization in New York that fosters entrepreneurship in developing countries. He graduated from Princeton and received a law degree from Yale and an M.B.A. from Harvard.

John C. Henry, Jr. ’84 (jchenry21@gmail.com had his most successful campaign on the water racing his International One-Design named "Gambler" this past summer. He qualified for the World Championship to be sailed in San Francisco in September 2008, by placing first in the July Series and second in August during the Northeast Harbor Fleet qualifiers. And, he writes, “a third generation Henry has started at A-S this year. John ‘Ryder’ Henry ’17 began Kindergarten Sept. 5, 2007 - thirty-two years after I started and eighty-seven years after his grandfather Campbell. He met Headmaster David Trower in front of the school - he was a little shy, but managed to get out that he was excited about starting school. He has also co-produced and acted in a successful film “Dog Hate Cat” which was an official selection of the San Francisco Short Film Festival and the Twin Rivers Multimedia Festival in Asheville N.C (where it was awarded 3rd place in the short film drama/comedy). Christopher John Weitz ’84 (Brenda@depthoffield.biz) directed “The Golden Compass” a movie to be released by New Line Cinema. It is an ambitious fantasy in which Dakota Blue Richards, a schoolgirl with no previous credits, plays the intrepid Lyra. Supported by Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, Ms. Richards’ character is the heroine in what is planned to be the first of three movies based on Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” series of novels, New Line’s answer to Disney’s “Narnia” films.
