be an essential portion of a child’s education, as important as math and reading and science and Physical Education. To all the contributors who are represented this year, congratulations! Well done and never stop! You are the torch bearers who share Zach’s passions and dreams.

Randolph R. Schrade ‘76 is the director of the orchestra and the instrumental program at Allen-Stevenson, a position he has held since 1989 and was the head of music from 1989-92. Before returning to his Alma mater, Randy continued his studies at Collegiate ‘79, and graduate Magna cum Laude from Yale where he received his BA and MA in Musical Theory and Composition, Piano. At Yale, Randy studied composition under renowned Music Theory and Mathematics Professor David Lewin, along with the distinguished Schenkarian Allan Forte and Kevin Korsyn. Randy is brother to the late Magical Music Lady Robelyn Schrade James who many in the A-S community remember fondly and credits their love of music to piano lessons with their parents Rolande and Robert Schrade, teachers at The Chapin School and Allen-Stevenson. His passion for music continued with the cello and many early mornings in orchestra at A-S.
