Tips to keep your family safe

during winter driving: Prepare your vehicle Have emergency items on hand Prepare yourself!

Prepare your vehicle Frigid temperatures and winter snow can be harsh on your vehicle. Make sure you prepare by: Servicing your car- Ensure that there are no issues so you don’t breakdown and get stranded. Inspect your tires- It’s important that your tires have the right pressure and are in good condition. Check and fill your windshield washer fluid Replace your windshield wipers Keep your gas tank close to full – this will help ensure you can keep warm if you get stranded in bad weather.

Have emergency items on hand: Snow shovel or broom to clear walkways Keep an ice scraper in the car for frosty days Have cat litter or gravel in the car in case you get stuck in snow Place a blanket and/or warm clothing in the car in case you get stranded Keep a cell phone charger in your vehicle Water, food and any necessary medications should be kept in the car

Prepare Yourself! Plan Ahead: Don’t rush- traveling in winter weather is dangerous enough without being in a hurry and cutting corners. Prepare your vehicle Use a GPS or plan your trip ahead of time Be aware of your surroundings and other drivers
