Library Legislative Day A Camden, Alabama, native and a 1967 graduate of Auburn University, Kay Ivey has had a career in the private sector (as a banker and assistant hospital administrator), as well as a career in public service (as a high school teacher and as Reading Clerk of the Alabama House of Representatives). Her public service also includes being appointed by three governors to various positions in state government, including Assistant Director of the Department of Commerce, formerly known as the Alabama Development Office. In 2002, Kay became the first Republican elected State Treasurer since Reconstruction and was reelected in 2006. As Treasurer, Kay Ivey proved her commitment to taxpayers by making the office more open, transparent, and efficient. Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey is committed to job creation and preparing students for the 21st century workforce. This commitment has resulted in her service as Chairman of the Job Creation and Military Stability Commission, Vice Chairman of the Aerospace States Association and acting as an advocate for the Real World Design Challenge, in Alabama. She also serves as the spokeswoman for the Alabama Forestry Associations Black Belt Initiative and is participating with Auburn University in their campaign to end child hunger. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery, the Montgomery Rotary Club, the Board of Directors of the Montgomery YMCA, and the Tukabatchee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Lt. Governor Kay Ivey is also honored to be the first Alabama Girls State alumnus elected to an Alabama Constitutional Office.

Library Legislative Day Senator Waggoner, born in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 8, 1937, is serving his sixth term in the Senate after serving from 1966-1983 in the House of Representatives. Senator Waggoner, President, Birmingham Business Consultants, LLC, received his B.A. degree from Birmingham Southern College and his J.D. degree from Birmingham School of Law. He and his wife Marilyn are the parents of four children: Scott (deceased), Mark, Lyn Waggoner Kilpatrick, and Jay. Senator Waggoner is a Republican and a member of the Homewood Church of Christ. He serves on the following boards: Executive Committee of Birmingham Business Alliance; Faulkner University Board of Trustees; Member of Birmingham, Hoover, Shelby County, Vestavia Hills Chambers of Commerce; Member Vestavia Hills Civitan Club; Inducted into the Birmingham Southern College Sports Hall of Fame, 2007; Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau; Alabama Sports Hall of Fame; and Pinnacle Bank. He served as head coach of the Birmingham Touchdown Club and was president of the Birmingham Tip-Off Club. Senator Waggoner was elected Senate Minority Leader from 2002-2010. Senator Waggoner was elected Senate Majority Leader on December 8, 2010. Senator Waggoner has the longest record of service, of any legislator from Jefferson County, in Alabama history. SENATOR J. T. Library Legislative Day Representative Jay Love was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in November, 2002. Born and raised in Montgomery, Representative Love graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and received his B.A. in Business Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery. As a former restaurant owner, he was selected as one of the Top 40 business leaders under 40 by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.

He and his wife, Cheri, have four children: Rachel, Addison, Rebecca, and Caroline. Representative Love is a member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery.
