The Winery This axonometric collage shows the relationship with the landscape. Two of the three buildings are set on a lower level and the last building is placed four meters above. A slope leads you smootly from one level to the other. The walk through the project is an experience in itself. The lower buildings have more private programs such as the production area and the administrative center. However they are easily accessible to allow business meetings or wine testing.

Improving the Site Activated Area
Urban Expansion Strategy How to make tourists stay longer in the city? Pilgrims spend in averge only 6 hours in the city of Santiago de Compostela. The rest of the tourists that arrive directly on site spend in average two days in the city. Two days can be considered enough to visit the old city center. The strategy to allow tourists to spend more time in the city is to create points of interest outside the city center. The new points of interest will allow new connection to the old city and activate the space in between.

Program Study Albariño Grape Vine The region of Santiago de Compostela and more generally the one of the Rias Baixas is internationally known for its wine production. The main grape growing there is the Albariño grape vine. This vine can be used to produce white wine. This study of the grape comes from the book Wine Folly, the essential Guide to Wine by Madeline Puckette & Justin Hammack, published in 2015.

Window Detail
The structure of the buildings is made out of a sequence of black steel trusses. The trusses support a secondary structure made out of steel profiles. The insulation and the wall layers are places in between the secondary steel structure. Finally, the gabion wall is installed as a coat on the building. The opening are defined by the sunlight exposition and the users needs.
