The Broadmoor Ladies Invitation Tees
Up a New Era
From 1942 to 1997, the Broadmoor Ladies Invitation amateur tournament showcased top players from across the nation. The tradition returns this September, when the resort hosts an extraordinary field of amateur women golfers for the reinaugural edition. The tournament will feature two-person teams competing on the East and West courses.
In a two-round better-ball stroke play format with handicap, both team members will complete each hole, with the lower net and gross scores counting toward the round’s total.
Historically, the quality of the field — including past champions Judy Bell and Barbara McIntire — not only made it a competitive event but also infused the tournament with a festive spirit.
Today’s participants and their guests can likewise expect spirited competition, camaraderie, and engaging daily events at the resort. As Broadmoor Director of Golf Russ Miller puts it, “Players will have a special experience at The Broadmoor while enjoying great competition as they meet new friends from across the country.”

The Penrose Room
The Penrose Room at The Broadmoor has hosted countless celebrations since first opening in 1961. Now this iconic restaurant is undergoing a well-deserved transformation. Debuting this summer, the venue’s updated design draws inspiration from the life, legacy, and travels of founders Spencer and Julie Penrose. The Broadmoor partnered with New York–based Tihany Design — the design team behind Summit and Ristorante del Lago — to bring this vision to life.
Guests will be greeted in an entrance that evokes a 19th-century welcome foyer, featuring a black-and-white tile floor, rich wood and burgundy accents, elegant gold details, and a cozy fireplace. The adjacent Social Salon — modeled after the saloons and taverns of the American West — offers plush seating and an extensive collection of rare spirits and wines.
The main dining room is adorned in shades of gold, a nod to the resort’s timeless elegance. Two private dining rooms provide intimate settings for smaller groups: the Jade Room, inspired by Julie Penrose’s love of fine art and delicate china, and the Copper Room, which honors Spencer Penrose’s mining ventures. A discreet passageway leads to The Polo Lounge, an exclusive speakeasy experience.
Beyond its new look, The Penrose Room will debut an innovative menu blending global influences — from Europe and the Mediterranean to South America and Southeast Asia — with contemporary tableside preparations and modern twists on old-world traditions.

Designed for anglers of all skill levels and endorsed by Orvis, the leader in fly fishing equipment, gear, and training, the weekend retreat aims to get more women on the water to learn and enjoy the satisfying sport of fly fishing. The Broadmoor Estate House is a 12,000-square-foot, five-bedroom residence on The Broadmoor’s main campus surrounded by lush, meticulously landscaped gardens and lawns. This exquisite historic residence provides a timeless backdrop for romantic wedding celebrations and ample space for families to celebrate together. Each of the estate’s five bedrooms features a king or two queen beds and a private bathroom. Broadmoor chefs may also be engaged to prepare an intimate meal in the home’s gourmet kitchen, served in the formal dining room, which seats 16 guests. The grand parlor can accommodate 60 people for seated dinners or 120 for receptions.
The nearby Broadmoor Brownstones, each with two bedrooms, offer additional options for luxurious residential-style lodging. Unwind next to the fire in the elegant living room or entertain in the formal dining room, adjacent to a gourmet kitchen that opens onto a private terrace.
