EL KOURA SQUARE RENNOVATION

In designing and renovating Koura Square’s urban space, our paramount objective is to preserve the historical essence of the surrounding buildings while simultaneously addressing traffic congestion and enhancing the livability of the area for its residents.

By striking a balance between historical preservation and modern urban functionality, we envision revitalizing Koura Square into a vibrant and harmonious hub that honors its rich heritage while catering to the needs of its present-day inhabitants.

DESIGN PROCESS

The Kora Square urban project utilized a stepback approach to address traffic congestion and parking issues, optimizing traffic flow and parking provision while enhancing functionality and accessibility.

We resolved traffic issues in the project by identifying and correcting incorrect traffic patterns, redesigning car lanes to improve flow and safety. These interventions successfully eliminated congestion and streamlined traffic movement within the project area.

We alleviated traffic congestion by installing a triangular green roundabout within the piazza, effectively separating traffic lanes and enhancing safety and efficiency.

We improved pedestrian access and aesthetic appeal in the Kora Square urban project by integrating pedestrian road axes intersecting the green triangle roundabout, promoting safety and convenience while preserving green space.

The green area within the roundabout was designed to incorporate pedestrian seating and designated taxi parking, catering to the needs of people waiting and gathering, fostering a sense of community and liveliness for residents.

In the renovation process of historical buildings, our approach prioritizes preserving the intrinsic historical value while addressing elements that may distort the building’s beauty.

This entails carefully maintaining historical touches while making necessary alterations, such as updating lighting cables and shop boards, as well as addressing maintenance needs like repairing cracks.

Main Gathering space

The envisioned small green space with seating aims to foster a vibrant social atmosphere and community gatherings, providing residents with a tranquil setting for relaxation and interaction amidst lush greenery, promoting social cohesion and well-being within the neighborhood.

TRIPOLI - GATE URBAN REGENERATION

A Complex project divided into 3 parts, Residentail, Commercial and offices. Located at the entrance gate of Tripoli City, it is surrounded by a mix of old industrial buildings and tourist resorts, all positioned to fully embrace its seaside location.

It constitutes an expansion of an urban project we previously designed within the same vicinity.

The aim of the project is to rejuvenate the industrial zone by introducing housing and services, thereby imparting a fresh urban ambiance to the area, as it serves as the primary entrance to the city of Tripoli.

Urban Concept

The main goal for this project was to attract all kind of users to the project, therefore these leveling will allow direct pedestrian accessibilty to locals from the village right into the main gathering space in the site.

Users in this project divided by 4 main ones, and according to that the site was divided to four axis.

Axis will connect the village with the Urban Site Project.

Axis will connect people in the nearby Resorts to Project.

Axis represent first visual accessibility to site.

Axis will allow visual accessibilty towards the site to all outsiders on the highway

mainly on the secondary road for accessibilty and away from the highway for privacy and to be away from noise

commercial buildings will help to create income for the area and it will create activity which makes the location alive again

Green Spaces

adding green spaces to each zone that help creating private gatherig spaces for each function

preservig the factories by the rehabilitation of 3 of them, dividing them to a functioal part and a gallery part to make it somehow touristical

The main public gathering space will be made according to several axis that connect the users together.

Will be on the -3 level in order to take advantage of its surrounding to make commercial functions without ruining the green layout of the project.

Designing a public park of significant scale involves more than creating a mere green space; it’s about fostering community interaction and revitalizing dormant areas. This endeavor is crucial for breathing life into neglected spaces, as it offers a sanctuary for residents to connect, relax, and engage in recreational activities. By incorporating various amenities such as walking trails, playgrounds, sports facilities, and communal gathering areas, the park becomes a vibrant hub where people from diverse backgrounds come together. Moreover, the presence of greenery not only beautifies the landscape but also improves air quality, promotes biodiversity, and mitigates the urban heat island effect. Overall, the transformation of a dead area into a lively public park serves as a catalyst for social cohesion, physical well-being, and environmental sustainability within the community.
