VIBE

VIBE VIBE is the new development of the current white cane. White cane is the walking guide which aids the blind community by allowing them to detect objects around them in the street.

VIBE and the white cane are different in many ways. VIBE has been re-developed to allow the blind user to become more independent and allows them to explore the greater city and areas.

When Conducting research, I spoke to several blind people, all with different severities. Everone I spoke to all said that they wish to become more independant, wish to explore more of the city and other areas and even in their own neighbourhood have toruble navigating.

VIBE The user would press the voice command button built within the handle. The user would then say the destination they wish to walk to. The built in GPS system would recognise what the user has said and locate their destination. After locating their destination it would start directing them through vibrations. These vibrations would be different for each command.

VIBE would lead the user to the front door of their destination, whilst also aiding them to cross the road safely. This is all done whilst being on the safest and quickest route possible.

CRYPT

CRYPT CRYPT is a two person desk to help establish better teamwork and communication among colleagues to help productivity, creativity and inspiration. Two minds are better than one, so the close interaction with a colleague helps designers, architects and other professions with their idea generation and development.

CRYPT has a second feature that helps people work clearly to help ideas generate. The middle of the desk has a storage box built within, to reduce clutter and helps keep the workspace clean for the colleagues to work better. This is accessed by a sliding panel.

CRYPT The way I intended CRYPT to look like was a natural raw wood and raw metal look. The desk top is made of Plyboo, a expensive wood that has features I needed in order for my desk design to work. Plyboo has minimal friction, which allowed the storage door to work. The wood in incredibly strong making the desk long lasting and able to hold more weight. The smooth finish on the wood makes working on the desk more enjoyable.

Snuka

Snuka An oxygen breathing device that is a combination of snorkelling and skuba driving. This device is for those snokelling lovers that wish to dive deeper and for longer but without the heavy equipment that Skuba divers have.

Snuka is a lightweight oxygen inhaler that dispenses short burts of oxygen to the user by a press of a button. The short burst of oxygen is to allow the user to refill their lungs back up, saving them coming back up to the serface.

Snuka

When the user is underwater and starting to run out of air, the user will exhale, releasing the air within their lungs. The air will be released out into the water through this purge vavle. The purge vavle is a one way vavlve that relases air but stops water from getting in.

The user would then press the release button on either one of the mini oxygen canisters, located at the end of the side extrusions.

When pressing the button, releasing the air, the user would then inhale the oxygen that has been released into the body of the device.

Snuka

The mouth piece is a frosted, silicone rubber, this allows the piece to mould to the users mouth and flex around their teeth, making it nicer to have in ones mouth for a long time. the body will be made from polyproylene, this to make sure it is lightweight, strong and lowers the cost.

when inhaling the oxygen, the user takes grasp of the oxygen capsules, which also can be used as handles. This allows the user to secure the device and helps reduce the risk of some air getting out or more importantly, water getting in when breathing. Teeth grips Air hole

Caudal

Caudal

Caudal is the new development in Prosthetics. The aim for caudal is to encourage and motivate amputees to become more active, as well as, aim to improve mental and physical health within those whom have a leg amputation.

A high statistical number of people who have some form of an amputation become demotivated in life, which then leads to them gaining anxiety and depression. This in turn has a knock effect as their poor mental health which excludes them from the outside world, reducing their physical health. This products selects those which have a transtibial (below the knee) amputation and aids them to become more independent and confident when performing leisurely swimming.

Caudal Caudal is designed to be shaped and similar looking to a normal leg., This is to allow that both the residual limb and the other leg to be equal when kicking. Swimming. Without a fin or with a fin too large can cause imbalances within the legs, leading to injury. The base of the fin is shaped to that similar to a pointed foot, with the same intention as the shin, to prevent injuries as well as to make the kicking and the water resistance feel normal to the user.

Caudal

Flexion The black arrow is showing the motion of the built in hinge within the model. The curved ankle would flex when the user is kicking down. Flexion is needed to help gain a propulsion in the water. Tension is gained behind the flexion on the kick down and all the energy stored is released at the end of the kick.

Water Flow The Fin is shaped similar to that of a persons foot, this is to keep a balance when the user is kicking but to also help the flow of water, the blue arrows help show how the water would flow around the foot in a smoother and natural motion There gills on the shin help reduce drag. On the back kick, water will get trapped in the back of the fin, this can cause the fin to break because of the power of the back kick and for amount of water. The gills allow the water to escape, pro-longing the life of the fin. Another feature that helps reduce drag, is the gap around the base of the model. The shape of the model allows the water to run smoothly down towards the base of the model, where a gap in the foot allows the flow of water to be released.

Caudal The Prosthetic is designed for that specific person. As all residual limbs are different, the generic sizes that most prosthetics follow by have problems such as friction burns. With Caudal the measurements of the residual limb for the consumer are taken and are taken into consideration when making the product.

The Product is all 3D printed with Polypropylene. This is due the polymer keeping some of its properties such as strength and flexibility. This then allows the user to walk briefly on it from and too the pool and allowing the prosthetic to flew when in the kicking motion.
