LIMITLESS L1 Marketing

Hands up if you’ve seen the film ‘Limitless’, starring Bradley Cooper? Always 50 steps ahead, looking into the future. That’s how Michael Harrison sees his business, and it’s reflected in his attitude toward challenges, a mentality that solves problems and moves on.

L1 Marketing has now F opened in Liverpool, the city he grew up in, and the city he came home to after an abundance of travelling. Drawn to the commission-based role, Michael originally planned to work, save money, then head off again, but soon realised he had a knack for sales. He built a strong team within just four months, just as the pandemic reared its ugly head. With the various lockdowns limiting his movements, it became obvious that the opportunity to build something was too good to miss. Fast forward a few months and here we are, running a successful business, in his own office with his name above the door.

L1 Marketing is an events office working with charity partners, currently The British Red Cross. Feeling perfectly placed to align his business with not only this sector, but this route to market, Michael’s keen to recruit like-minded people. When asked what attributes he believed elevated him through to ownership, he explains that although skill sets can take time to establish and develop, these three core characteristics play a vital role in development: Resilience, Positive Attitude, and Student Mentality.

He states that,

“A person’s attitude seeps into everything they do; if you approach challenges in the right way you’ll be successful, even if you don’t necessarily get the results you want, you can always take something away from it.”

Having the resilience to keep working toward your goals, no matter the challenge, keeping a positive attitude when you may not get the results you want first time, and learning from each experience will see you develop your mindset, skill set, and confidence. Michael deems that a success.

According to him, having a student mentality allows you to “find the gold” from each situation, something you can then apply to various scenarios throughout life making you better prepared for whatever comes your way next. Making a formidable partnership, both Michael and the Administrative Recruiter for L1 Marketing, Jess Maudsley, see work as a chosen lifestyle; somewhere you should enjoy spending time, feel a part of something great, and seek to achieve.

Taking ownership of your individual role within the business, Michael believes it’s important to shine where you are strong, and learn from others where you’re not so, (that’s where having a ‘Student Mentality’ comes in!). So, although Michael felt sales came quite naturally to him, other aspects of the business took some getting used to, and lots of practice. For example, being able to sell is different from being able to teach sales. Being great with people and customers is different from building strong relationships with clients.

Being a business owner isn’t about showing the world you are the best at everything, it’s understanding where you can have an impact, and working with great people in the other areas. As with most, sales is an ever-evolving industry and we have to keep up; learning from those who are best versed to teach isn’t a weakness, it’s entrepreneurship.

Having grown up in Liverpool, we knew Michael would be the person to ask where hot spots were concerned. As well as the Watersports Centre where the inflatable assault course is a must-do, he said, and we quote, “Pier Head is probably my favourite place in the world”. A beautiful skyline from rooftop bars, lots of options for eating out, and a great vibe to get stuck into.

We’re really looking forward to seeing where Michael takes his business, we’d place our bet on abroad. He did say that he wouldn’t leave the country again until he was expanding his business internationally… We’ll hold him to that!

If you want to spend time with L1 Marketing, seeing for yourself how Michael has grown his business in such a short space of time, he’d be more than happy to take your call and arrange a visit.
