Four “Here come the girls” feature, we spoke with females within the industry, gathering their insight and highlighting their success thus far. For Edition #16 of the Mantra Magazine, we’re pleased to announce that one of those women, Asma Brahimi, has earnt herself a promotion to Ownership with Imperium Global Marketing Group being one of the latest offices to launch. We grabbed some precious time with the new owner to discuss the development, and she didn’t disappoint; what an entrepreneur.

As with all the new offices that expand our organisation, its chosen company name is intriguing. Asma decided “Imperium” was to come first as its origin comes from an impressive Italian Army, with “Imperium Patronum” meaning a rank given to the Emperor's most trusted advisors. It sat well, fronting her business as she meant it to go on; powerful for her clients, trusted by all and success in their nature.

Perhaps more profound is it’s choosing given the fact she is one of the few female owners within the industry. On the matter, Asma mentions how she found it very interesting. She says:

“You don’t need to be male to be an entrepreneur. It’s all about the discipline, hard work, and goals, whether you’re male or female.”. She goes on to speak about how her particular challenges were in fact more to do with her initial skill set; English not being her first language, her patience, and, believe it or not, her attitude.

“Our business is a people business, you need to have the right skills and the right attitude - I didn’t have them.”

A brave statement to make. She continues:

“All of it was out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to prove to others, and to myself, that even coming from a different country, where I could not speak English properly, I could do it. It’s not rocket science, because as long as you have the right attitude, work ethic and discipline, the skills will come with that time and effort.”

A fantastic lesson to learn for all of us, for all aspects of life.

"Our business is all about people, whether that’s our customers, clients, or the people we work with. We treat people properly, with respect, with understanding, and with kindness, so the fact that Asma was drawn to Floyd Marriott’s business because of the person he is, is no surprise. She explains how she was “...attracted to the job because people were humble with their success, they put themselves at your level, not above.”

“I really work hard, and if I have something to do, it just has to be done. I can’t even let new guys win on crew nights! I have the best intentions, but I just don’t have it in me to lose. Sorry!”.

She goes on to express her gratitude for the support she’s received, not just in business, but on a personal level too.

“He really cares about people. We all go through challenges, but having that person to support you, well, I couldn’t have done it without him.”

When asked what it was about her personality that has helped her to succeed, Asma, in a nutshell, believes that her workethic, competitive nature, and resilience are to be attributed.

“I really work hard, and if I have something to do, it just has to be done. I can’t even let new guys win on crew nights! I have the best intentions, but I just don’t have it in me to lose. Sorry!”.

Something we wanted to gain insight on was what the business meant to Asma, and how she wanted to build her organisation We asked what she believed would be the Imperium Global Marketing Group tagline, if there were to be one. She answered with, “Pursue your goals”. Not a throwaway remark, but a passionate belief and sentimental notion. She tells of her first organisational meeting and how when asked to relay her goals, she began to cry. Driven by her family, Asma aims to retire her parents within the near future, and sponsor her sister to go to University.

Asma understands that where business goals may adjust over time, and as obstacles make themselves known, her personal goals will never falter. It’s this drive and focus that enables her to tackle oncoming challenges.

We had to take the opportunity to share some advice from such an inspirational business owner. Breaking it down to various roles within the business, she offered these words of wisdom.

If you’re a brand new team member “Do not compare yourself to others, we all learn at our own pace.”

If you’re a new Leader “Do what you want to do. It’s not going to work if you’re just following other people”

If you’re a Crew Leader

“You need to have the right attitude; you have to be resilient, prepared mentally for challenges. In every stage you are learning something different so don’t attach a promotion to a time frame, relate it to your skill set. Everyone’s strengths are different”

We have a feeling Asma Brahimi is going to be one to watch; a fantastic business mindset and incredible personal drive. Take the opportunity to watch this lady in action, visit her London office for your business, goals and yourself.
