John Holland and UGL In February 2021, Transport for NSW announced that UGL had won the John Holland contract. This transfer process began in May 2021 with UGL and John Holland holding joint roadshows across the network with members at all major sites.
Members from the Junee to Griffth Re Railing project At these meetings, UGL provided their proposed structure that will deliver the maintenance for the new Country Rail Network called UGL Regional Linx. The contract is on a fixed price only for the maintenance delivery model. This impact for just maintenance delivery means a surplus of employees in the current CRN network that could translate to 40% job losses from the current John Holland model. RTBU Officials attended every one of the roadshows providing support to members ad clarifying different scenarios and outcomes. Members will have the opportunity to consider various options, including taking up employment with UGL Regional Linx remaining with John Holland Limited, or taking redundancy. It is proposed that the transfer of business is finalised by 29 January 2022, with the current CRN Enterprise Agreement not expiring until 2023. All employees’ conditions of employment will be maintained and protected following the transfer.
