Brownfield site reclaimed by city of Atlanta to redevelop as mixed use park. Stormwater management is handled throughout site as existing flood plain is worked into catchment features for aesthetics and public education. Minimization of hardscapes, maximization of existing vegetation and introduction of natives. No grading involved as design worked with harsh grades. Model illustrates various material usage throughout the site - both natural and artificial.

Brownfield site part of a charet for future development in a small Athens, GA neighborhood. Heavy industrial usage on the site proposed as multifamily redevelopment. Shopping corridor utilizes existing structures and proximity to railway. High density, mixeduse development takes advantage of proximity to downtown Athens and public transit. Proposed housing matches general character and architectural features of area. Introduction of onstreet parking to reduce hardscape.

Proposal fits in with UGA’s Master Plan which eliminates paved lots and roads to create a strip of walkable corridores. Radial, centralized design takes advantage of site’s natural topography. Plant selections create year-round color; All selections native and noninvasive. Irregular plant plan helps break up symmetry and linear structure imposed by hardscape. Rainwater retention basin incorporated at the site’s lowest elevation maximizing filtration before stormwater makes its way offsite.

3 month internship in Costa Rica’s Cloud Rain Forest. Part of a team that produces a yearly publication assessing the campus’ overall sustainability. Served as the campus’ resident landscape designer reworking degraded areas of campus. Assisted ecology interns with inventories of both native plantlife and overall biodiversity of the ecosystem. Produced a scaled map of the campus structures and trail systems for official use of both campus visitors and the UGA Costa Rica website.

A concentration in Architecture was chosen as part of my senior exit semester. House’s design is a culmination of both the built environment and its potential synergy with the landscape surrounding it. Modern design incorporates an unusual floor plan with an abundance of structural extrusions to maximize natural light. Focal point is the centralized allglass void which gives each room and story access and proximity to natural light and clear, direct views of the landscape.

Scaled model shows extrusions, depth and layering of structure as well as detailed planning of solar accessibility. Attempts were made to integrate each side and section of the home with outdoor spaces such as: the all-glass void, indoor-to-outdoor pool, multiple decks, a wrap-around porch and a screened sunroom. Detailed study to Propose roofing that incorporates BMP stormwater practices such as LEED barrels and non-petroleum material usage. Solar panelling has been incorporated on the front entrance tower roofline.

Sited on a Section-8 housing district approximately 2 miles East of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Long considered one of the more downtrodden and dangerous areas to reside within the Atlanta area. Intermittent, sprawling development has become dilapidated and abandoned in many cases. The site’s centralized location, proximity to greenspace and ready access to public transit make College Park an ideal candidate for urban renewal.

Approached as a New Urban Development considering the need for tiered, infill based growth to encourage smart and responsible building codes. Transportation grids reworked to aid development habits and tie once segregated sections of the community together. Interconnected greenspace corridors proposed to give each structure ready access to parkspace. Mixed-use infill proposed to introduce existing public housing to single family, municipal and commercial districts diversifying the community.

Brenneman Park is one of the largest undeveloped greenspaces in Dekalb County. Park location takes advantage of two major roadways. The area was cleared and graded for development but has been left to reforest and naturalize. Courts and ballfields have been proposed while greenspace has been left for the park to function both passively and actively. The planting plan utilizes existing vegetation and proposes a gridded layout to juxtapose curvilinear paths.

On the Southeast edge of the Park, a community garden has been proposed to complement the existing building adding both space for gatherings and a sense of communal ownership. A number of curvilinear, native Planting plans have been proposed to encompass and contrast existing, outdated on-site buildings. Construction plans show a number of original designs of some of the features incorporated in the Brenneman Park proposal.
Snow Tire Facelift Athens, GA •

The Snow Tire Building is a partially abandoned building on the edge of the music district in Downtown Athens, GA built over 100 years ago. The building borders both residential and light commercial districts and could easily serve as a mixed use facility. A corridor has been proposed to serve as a sitting area for restaurants or open space for residents. Plantings have been added to enhance the space to passersby while the original structure has been left intact to match its surrounding structures.

Graphic design blends all of the skills that I have learned in school relating to content, scale, color and computer application. Logo design is a passion that I pursue when in my free time. I have done works for 2 companies in Marietta, GA and one for the University of Georgia Costa Rica. Initial Phases of designs are handdrawn and colored while all final products of logos are created with assorted Adobe Creative Suites including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.

The Center for Community Preservation and Planning, Covington, GA Landscape Architecture Intern Assisted in the planning of sustainable, economically viable town centers for Newton County, GA. Coordinated community meetings that included Newton County citizens, Newton County’s Mayor and various planning municipalities within the area.
