Minor Influence - What is this blog anyway?

WHAT IS THIS BLOG ANYWAY? #MINORINFLUENCEEXPLAINED 11.16.14 (Post from Minor Influence Blog/Alexandra Lange) The first thing people ask when they hear you have a blog is “what’s it called?” When creating my blog I wanted a name that would mean something and that would stick with people. While trying to create the name I wanted to make sure that it was something that really represented me. I chose the name Minor Influence because I truly believe everyone has an influence in this world. A teenage girl in the suburbs isn’t usually regarded as someone who has a major impact, so I created this blog to show that we can have an influence on anything from fashion to politics to music and everything in between. Regardless of the multitude of your influence, everyone changes the world in their own way. I think it is important for people, especially younger people, to know that their an influence is meaningful. It doesn’t have to be the pretty, skinny, (photo shopped) pop star on the cover of every magazine setting the trends for everyone - it could be us. And might I add, that girl on every cover was probably a normal girl once too. Everyday we need to remind ourselves that if we work hard enough and push ourselves, that we can be the next girl on the cover of every magazine (maybe just not like Kim Kardashian #breaktheinternet #maybenot). The source of our inspiration is also important. If you know me, you know i’m obsessed with fashion magazines. Vogue, Teen Vogue, Nylon, Elle, I read them cover to cover- my biggest fashion inspirations. It’s incredibly hard to take inspiration from the media, with all the photoshop and editing of not only models but average people too. It gives us unattainable expectations. Another reason I created this blog is because I want to be your minor influence. No photoshop, no crazy editing or lies- my blog is real. This blog is what I consider “attainable inspo”, no incredibly expensive clothing, no hardcore airbrush makeup or fake opinions. This is a place to realize that a normal girl from the suburbs, can be an inspiration. Here are some people that inspire me and make me believe I can make a difference. They worked incredibly hard to get where they are today. While these people may be major influences they were once minor influences like us.
