PROVIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERTISE
GOAL 5: Law enforcement officers possess an advanced level of expertise, skills and knowledge to effectively and efficiently target gang, organized and serious crime in Alberta. ALERT supports law enforcement, government agencies, and other stakeholders by providing specialized training in order to enhance the ability of officers to detect, disrupt, and dismantle organized and serious crime. SPECIALIZED TRAINING ALERT provides specialized law enforcement training, not just for police officers, but works with NGOs, government officials, and crown prosecutors to equip them with the best resources for disrupting organized crime. In the last year 39 courses were held and ASLET facilitated 78 course offerings for outside agencies. A total of 2,320 candidates were trained in specialized topics such as source handling, major case management, search warrant drafting, and expert witness testimony.
