biographical sketch ALEXIA GÓMEZ MAURER

3

From mexican father, Ricardo Gomez and swiss mother, Marlise Maurer, Alexia Rubí Gómez Maurer is raised between a mix of cultures and customs. This fact is the one that sets in her future a great interest in getting to know new horizons and languages, and therefore has always sought to complement her education abroad. In her senior year she had the opportunity to do an exchange program in France, allowing her to later decide to pursue a career in architecture. Throughout her professional training at the Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla, she found that the architecture is very versatile and offers various possibilities for fieldwork. From the beginning she has been interested in interior design, and thanks to her good performance at the university she was able to get a scholarship for an exchange semester in Italy, the cradle of art. Currently, just finished her bachelor, Alexia has already one year of work experience in the architectural firm Oxígeno Visual and is ready to continue acquiring new knowledge and skills. 4

Assessor: Architect Subhash Mukerjee / Architect Martina Tabò Location:Torino, Piemonte , Italia Period: Autumn 2010 Description: The main idea of this building is to enjoy the views that can be appreciated in the city of Torino without really breaking the urban silhouette. The intention of the project is to discover different views from the city that are not commonly seen, sucha as the Alps; with this purpose I decided to use the last level as a public space, but with a special tilted aim, which is that of discovering. On this project, I wanted to exalt the fact that the space can be perceived in different ways. The shape of the building was a basic rectangle; however, by departing from the idea of the tilted roof, I subtracted the virtual space that was created there and placed it on the bottom of the building, meaning the underground level; therefore the basic rectangle was transformed into a rhombus. What is interesting about these tilted spaces is that they both have the same use, but one is enclosed, while the other is in the open. 6

Bachelor Final Project Assessor: Architect Federico Barcel贸 / Engineer Humberto Carreto Location: Calakmul, Campeche, Mexico. Period: Autumn 2012 Description: The lack of identity and the immigration problems at the border of Mexico and Guatemala has been in recent years transformed into a problem of uncontrolled population and urban growth. If reformative actions are not taken quickly, the great biodiversity and historic heritage of the area may be even more damaged. Through case studies and a general analysis of the zone, a probable solution is proposed with an architectural object that combines different uses with the purpose of detonating the area through the touristic attractive, the studies of biodiversity and other local productive activities. 20
