The Aldergrove Kodiaks made it seven straight victories thanks to a 3-2 overtime win over the North Vancouver Wolf Pack. Brandon Potomak notched the winner on an overtime power play on Saturday at the Harry Jerome Recreation Centre. The Wolf Pack forced overtime after scoring twice in a three-minute span in the third period. Aldergrove had led 2-0 with first period goals from Potomak and Ryan Procyshyn. Mark Menicucci stopped 26 shots for the victory. The Kodiaks also won 7-2 last Wednesday over the Mission Icebreakers with Thomas Hardy (two goals, one assist), Jordan Pughe (one goal, two assists) and Potomak (three assists) leading the way with a combined nine points. Menicucci was also in goal for that victory, stopping 30 shots. The Kodiaks (10-4-0-0) will go for their eighth straight win Nov. 8 when

they visit the Delta Ice Hawks (11-3-10) at the Ladner Leisure Centre. They host the Richmond Sockeyes (14-0-0-0) on Nov. 9, at the Aldergrove Arena (see www.aldergrovestar.com for update). WIN AT HOME OVER MISSION The Aldergrove Kodiaks stretched their winning streak to six games after thumping the Mission Icebreakers 7-2. The junior B hockey club now has a share of top spot in the PIJHL’s Harold Brittain Conference with 18 points. The Kodiaks peppered the Mission goal with 57 shots on Wednesday night at the Aldergrove Arena and had six different goal scorers. Mark Menicucci stopped 30 shots for the victory. The offence was led by three-point nights from Thomas Hardy (two goals, one assist), Jordan Pughe (one goal, two assists) and Brandon Potomak (three assists). Alex Feighan, Matthew Luongo, Colton Precourt and Coleman Foisy had a goal apiece. A pair of Langley players, Adam Callegari and Kenny Prato, scored for Mission.

Langley’s Michael Messenger is among the final 50 players invited to attend the Canadian Lacrosse Association’s tryouts for the U19 national team. More than 200 players from across the country for one of the 50 available spots. The players are competing for one of the 23 roster spots on the squad, which will play at the world U19 world championships in Finland. Messenger is a midfielder. Set to graduate this June, he has verbally committed to High Point University. Of the 50 players, 22 are currently playing in the NCAA while another 15 have verbally committed to the NCAA.
