93 1993 reunion highlights Jerry Johnson, ’93, and Hope Bailey, ’93 Reunion Co-Chairs Approximately 70 class members, spouses and friends gathered for the Class of 1993 reunion at the Jackson Brewing Company after the Homecoming football game. It was great to see our football team continue its winning tradition; our class, during its four years at
Albion, saw the football team lose only once in the regular season. A buffet of appetizers awaited reunion-goers, and the atmosphere was perfect for catching up with old friends. A faithful handful of revelers danced late into the night to the harmonious sounds of “Dancing Queen” and—of course—“BrownEyed Girl.” We look forward to meeting again in 2003 for our 10th reunion! —Hope Bailey, ’93 Genrundyne Algenio, ’93, 39136 Boston Dr., Sterling Heights 48313, is a dentist. Students give ‘homework’ a new meaning The Albion College Habitat for Humanity organization is currently embarking on a momentous project—providing a home for a low-income family in Albion. Under the guidance of officials from the Greater Albion Habitat for Humanity and College personnel, members of the student body are organizing this project from the ground up—literally. Students are responsible for every aspect of the project, including purchasing a lot, hiring contractors, organizing a pool of volunteers and raising funds for the $56,000 project. While a preliminary time line is in place, much still needs to be accomplished in order for the group to meet its December 1999 deadline. To make this effort a truly College-oriented experience, the student Habitat organization is inviting all students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents to be a part of the project. Most of the construction will occur during fall 1999, by which time the group plans to have a strong volunteer corps in place. In the meantime, financial support is particularly important in order to make this dream a reality for an Albion family. The student Habitat members would also like to hear of experiences that alumni or parents may have had with Habitat in other locations. This project will be the seventh Habitat home built in Albion in the past three years. Founded in 1996, the student Habitat organization has played a significant role in the construction of many of these houses. The Habitat members hope this new project might begin a new Albion College tradition, with a new house being constructed every other year. Anyone who is interested in sharing stories, volunteering or offering financial support may contact the Office of Campus Programs and Organizations, Albion College, 611 E. Porter St., Albion, MI 49224, 517/ 629-0433, or e-mail Habitat co-presidents Kim Parker (kparker@albion.edu) or Sam Talsma (stalsma@albion.edu).
