The beginning words of the yell, “Io Triumphe!,” were probably borrowed from the poems of the Roman writer, Horace. In 1936, the alumni of Albion College voted to name their magazine after the yell which by then had become a College tradition. For years, Albion’s incoming students have learned these lines by heart: Io Triumphe! Io Triumphe!
