Roots run deep in Albany for Katie Bacon, who has been making and exhibiting art since childhood. After being selected as a Westover Comprehensive High School student to participate in the Governor's Honors Art Program, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the University of Georgia.

For nearly a decade, she has made her home in New York City, where she works as a visual artist with solo and group exhibitions throughout the city and also in her native Georgia. Additionally, she has become a successful makeup artist with more than ten years of experience in film, TV, editorial, commercial and bridal makeup with highprofile corporations and brands such as NBC, Discovery, Broadway, Pinterest, L'Oreal, Covergirl, Chanel, Tiffany & CO., Sports Illustrated, Essence and People.

Katie keeps a regular painting practice and enjoys depicting personal stories and scenes that reflect her Southern upbringing, giving them life through oils, acrylics and mixed media presentations. Social Graces, an exhibition of her work presented by the Albany Museum of Art, depicted social media culture with journalistic imagery taken on an iPhone combined with acrylic paint. These paintings captured the spirit of Instagram, combined with her emotional response to living in NYC from her perspective as a Southerner. Living in NYC and her work in both painting and makeup have helped Katie to expand, explore and live a meaningfully creative life. ∞
