The idyllic South Pacific islands have been a favourite haunt for couples, and particularly honeymooners, for some time; and with soft white sands, crystal waters, solitude and spectacular surroundings, it’s easy to understand why. After touring the Antipodes they’re the perfect place to relax.

If time allows, island hopping is by far the best way to appreciate the splendour and diversity of the island groups. Whether you opt for the Cook Islands, Tahiti, Fiji or Hawaii, you’ll find it’s easy to hop across to a neighbouring island.

Classic South Pacific islands Whilst each of the South Pacific islands is undoubtedly idyllic, they are also unique in their own way. Fiji is best for culture, dive enthusiasts, families and those seeking a wide selection of resorts. The Cook Islands mix Polynesian hospitality with New Zealand savoir faire and have a wonderful array of resorts for couples and families alike, superb beaches and excellent dive opportunities. Tahiti will suit those seeking culture, surfing, diving and fantastic resorts while Hawaii is a Polynesian paradise whose varied islands provide the ideal spot to relax and unwind.

Hawaii

South pacific and beyond The South Pacific’s far-flung location does involve long flights from the UK, so why not combine with a stay in Australia or New Zealand, where you can enjoy touring and sightseeing before having time to totally unwind on an idyllic beach in the South Pacific. Alternatively, you can break up your journey with a stay in California. There are excellent flight links between Los Angeles or San Francisco with the majority of the islands, so what could be better than exploring the iconic city sights before flying onwards to a paradise island.
