Work Zone Safety Is in Your Hands 2017 National Work Zone Awareness Each year the U.S. Department of Transportation and the American Traffic Safety Services Association team up to bring awareness to work zone traffic control safety. The 2017 work zone safety theme is “Drive Toward Zero.” So the next time you pass through road construction, pass a utility crew, or see an emergency vehicle beside the road, think about it this way – that’s someone’s mother, father, brother, sister or child who is working next to the highway or in the work zone. Please take the time to slow down and stay alert to all traffic conditions while driving.
