The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a new Chief Diversity O cer, and he’s Latino.
On May 31, Governor Josh Shapiro and Secretary of Administration Neil Weaver announced Norman Bristol Colón as the Commonwealth’s Chief Diversity O cer.
In the role, Bristol Colón will lead all diversity, equity and inclusion programs across all state agencies.
He is Pennsylvania’s rst statewide diversity o cer in over a decade since Governor Ed Rendell completed his two terms in 2011.
A Longtime Dedicated Advocate
A Native of Puerto Rico, Bristol Colón moved to Lancaster County in 1992 and has distinguished himself as a multi-faceted advocate and leader.
Whether he’s worked in higher education, the nonpro t sector, or in government, Bristol Colón has always made his presence known.
“Norman Bristol Colón has years of experience working to advance equity and inclusion… and together, we will work to make sure no community in our Commonwealth is le behind as we continue bringing people together to deliver real results for Pennsylvania,” said Governor Shapiro in a statement.
Bristol Colón is currently the chief diversity o cer for the Department of Community and Economic Development and the chair and founder of the Pennsylvania Latino Convention (PALC).
e latter was created to serve as the annual gathering to ignite positive change in local communities across the state while ensuring that key stakeholders are accessible, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the ever-growing Latino community.
PALC is an opportunity to assemble the state’s professionals and emerging leaders to tackle issues impacting the fastest-growing segment of the population.

La Mancomunidad de Pensilvania tiene un nuevo director de diversidad y es latino. El gobernador de Pensilvania Josh Shapiro y el Secretario de Administración, Neil Weaver, anunciaron el 31 de mayo el nombramiento de Norman Bristol Colón como director de diversidad.
El puertorriqueño Bristol Colón dirigirá todos los programas de diversidad, equidad e inclusión en todas las agencias estatales. Es el primer o cial estatal de diversidad de Pensilvania en más de una década desde que el gobernador Ed Rendell completó sus dos mandatos en 2011.
Un Defensor Dedicado Desde Hace Mucho Tiempo
Bristol Colón se trasladó al condado de Lancaster en 1992 y se ha distinguido como defensor y líder polifacético. Ya sea que haya trabajado en la educación superior, en organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro o en el gobierno, nunca pasa desapercibido.
Shapiro dijo de él que “tiene años de experiencia trabajando para promover la equidad y la inclusión. Y juntos, trabajaremos para asegurarnos de que ninguna comunidad de nuestro estado sea dejada atrás mientras continuamos uniendo a la gente para lograr resultados reales para Pensilvania”.
Bristol Colón es el director de diversidad del Departamento de Desarrollo Comunitario y Económico y el presidente y fundador de la Convención Latina de Pensilvania (PALC, por sus siglas en inglés).
PALC es una oportunidad anual para que los líderes emergentes y profesionales de Pensilvania interactúen para abordar los problemas que enfrenta el segmento de más rápido crecimiento en el estado, como es la comunidad latina, para impulsar un cambio positivo en las comunidades locales, garantizando al mismo tiempo que las principales partes interesadas sean accesibles, responsables y receptivas a las necesidades de dicha comunidad.
“El conocimiento práctico de Norman sobre las operaciones de la mancomunidad y nuestra fuerza laboral, combinado con un historial comprobado de trabajo de colaboración entre departamentos, lo han preparado para tener éxito en este nuevo cargo en la administración Shapiro”, expresó Weaver.
