C O N C E P T D E V E L O P M E N T Based on the top 3 sketches of designs for my t-shirts and tote bags, I feel as though piece 2 & 3 still need a lot of work. Though in saying this I am feeling confident that I’m on the right track as, researching from heaps of clothing brands, graphic blogs & the helpful hand of Pintrest has made me re think design layout and has pushed me on my illustrations skills so far. Wanting to create a successful brand is hard but a clothing brand is whole other level due to the competition out there and that the style is always changing.

FEEDBACK & EVALUATION The feedback and evaluation I received back from classmates, are that my designs needed more work and tidying up. Also to maybe re think my colour pallet, by adding in one other tone of red. Apart form that I didn’t receive much more feedback. Though in saying that I was helped to set up files for printing my designs and sending them to the printers. In saying this I have created a major piece that is to the brief and have successful made something that I want to share and feel as though its on trend. Also before I was going to get my t-shirts digital screen printed but due to servicing issues with the company and trying to get another quote in time was just a no go. As I wouldn’t of had any work to show at the showcase. So I went back to my drawings and made them all ready for heat pressing.

R AT I O N A L E

WHAT IS YOUR DESIGN RATIONALE?

&

My design rationale came from having a strong passion for street apparel and illustration drawings. Being able to create pieces of art using the skills in which I have gained over the last months is a great feeling. In saying this I hope that one day I could take these skills and actually work with in the apparel industry.

D I R E C T I O N

HOW CAN THE DESIGN REFLECT YOUR VALUES & PHILOSOPHY AS A DESIGNER ? The Designs in which I’m producing holds value to me as a designer as I want to show positive vibes and uniqueness for young females. By adding in quotes to my pieces and using the unique art pieces, I feel as though I have already achieved this.

HOW CAN YOUR DESIGN STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD ? Within the designs that I’m creating I know that they will stand out as I am using bold colour’s with the illustrations such as RED and also white, keeping the colour minimal but effective. Also that I wish to create a advertising campaign for my designs pieces.

WHAT IS THE DIRECTION & FOCUS FOR YOUR WORK ? The direction & focus for my work is to research current trends, to work through my mood board and this Elements to plan to have a strong understand about the industry standards and trends. Keeping my sketches and screen-shots together to show progress in my work. Using the programs of Adobe and to plan and keep on track of when dead lines are.

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ACHIEVE ? I’m trying to achieve a unique but on trend street apparel clothing. That inspires other women to not only wear but to embrace there quotes and statements into there own life.

CONSTRAINTS - Having constraints on my designs so I am able to send them to digital screen pressing people, so that they are ready at least 2 weeks before showcase is a must. - Getting my free stickers printed and ready to go for showcase is a must. - Also there will be constraints on me doing an actually advertising campaign so I have decide to use mock ups as a template. - Due to servicing problems with the digital screen printing company, I have know deiced to scrap that idea and just do heat pressing. As I don’t have the time to source and book for digital screen printing.

My target market and audience is aim towards young females of all sizes, who are not only like illustrations but also positive inspiration and sayings. Wanting too bring females into the light of skate fashion and the new urban street wear. But mainly encouragement towards women and to lift up females. To be bold with your life and be you. Also to show that street wear isn’t all just for men.

element but also to help inspire women to be a unique and to express themselves.

F U N C T I O N

This really got me thinking about how women of all sizes are still fighting to get a say in the street apparel, especially within the industry I wish to one day be apart of. That gave me the idea of placing quotes with my illustrations to only give it another

&

Through researching current trends and apparel clothing brands, I have found that heavy graphic illustrations are on trend. Taking this into mind for my own designs, though when I started to create my illustrations for my t-shirts finding that this clothing company’s had this style but were limited to women giving them a restricted choices.

P U R P O S E

The purpose and the function of this major project plan is to not only create a major project plan, complete the moodboard and unique illustrations but to also create a clothing campaign, for women in the street apparel encouraging women to be positive and unite together.

CHERRY RED

18 100 90 8 The reason why i decide to go with red and different tones of red. Is that we all know that red is a bold colour and I wanted to make a statement. At first I wanted to print on to black tops, but once researching and talking with my teachers that black and red are very harsh together. So then I decide to print on white tops. Leaving the red but introducing other tones of red.

INSPIRATION Researching from pintreset and instragram I was able to find heaps of inspiration. Also helping to see whats on trends and right now, illustrations a massive part of this year trends. Having weird quirky drawings that you save as a wallpaper or even on too a t-shirt. Below are some of the inspirations that help me and my drawings.

I L L U S T R AT I O N T W O This piece was inspired to me once again by researching and finding illustrations. Wanting a look of difference and bold, to get the message across to other women. To be bold and “Believe in yourself By, Alexandra King

T O T E B A G D E S I G N

The last piece I deiced to go with is just the logo and the flowers that are in the other two illustrations as I wanted to create a similar look that would flow on to my tote bag. Once printed with cut line around each letter and number. it will then be heat pressed on to a black tote bag, as cream coloured bag would not suit my colour pallet. By, Alexandra King
