Potentate’s Message By Woody Brown
G
reetings Nobles!!! Wow, the first few months of 2016 have been a whirlwind. Many thanks for every Noble who came out and supported us on all of the Official Visits. Your support is overwhelming. The Potentate’s Ball was a HUGE success. We had 350 Nobles and their Ladies dressed to the nines celebrating “Mardi Gras.” The band was superb; food was delicious, and it was very evident many of you really enjoyed the Hurricane Bar. Terry and I really appreciate all of you who attended. I am sorry I had to miss the Saint Patrick’s Day parade this year. I was in Nashville, TN attending SASA Spring meeting. From the pictures and reports I have received, I know you all did Khedive proud. At least I did draw a great number for Khedive in the parade this year at Myrtle Beach. Nobles, the Divan has attended several lodges in our Oasis so far this year. This has been a huge success. We have been received with open arms. All of them are pleased of our “Strength in Unity” theme this year. Also, our visits have resulted in giving our Brethren many petitions to join us this year. So, I
ask each of you, attend your Lodge and let your members know that we are in this together. Nobles, we are now gearing up for a lot of unit fund raisers. Please support each other. Just remember, you can’t do it alone. Nobles, it is not too early to start thinking about MASA and SASA conventions this September. Our hotel is the Double Tree for MASA. We have moved our lodging for SASA. We are now at Captain’s Quarters in Myrtle Beach. If you are going to Myrtle Beach, you have to make your own reservations. The information for the hotel has been released. Just follow the directions on the flyer. I am hoping we will get a huge response. We have our Rodeo on June 10 & 11. This is a huge fund raiser for your Temple. Please support this with your “Rodeo Daddy” tickets. Our Spring Ceremonial is June 17 & 18. I am honoring Noble Dave Norton and his Lady Carol. Dave and Carol do an enormous amount of work for this Temple. So, get out those petitions and show Dave how much we appreciate them. Nobles, our Business Meeting is May
19. Our ladies are invited to join us for dinner, then, have a program while we are conducting Temple business. Every Officer of all Units and Clubs should attend these meetings. reetings Nobles, I hope that this writing finds you enjoying the Spring weather. It’s hard to believe that a third of 2016 is already behind us. It seems that the older we get, the faster time flies by. As I was thinking about what to write for this issue of the Hi-Noble, I’d been watching the Presidential campaigns heat up approaching the party’s national conventions. The process brings to mind our own election process. When I was running for OG, something happened that I’ve never been able to forget that struck me as absolutely insane at the time, and my opinion hasn’t changed since then. An individual came up to me and said “I’m committed to (one of my competitors) on the first ballot but I think that you’re the right guy, so I’ll vote for you on the second ballot.” Does anyone not see the problem here? Is this how we should elect our leadership? Electing our leadership shouldn’t be like the national conventions. Shouldn’t we vote for the best-suited candidate on the first ballot? It’ll soon be time when those choosing to vie for OG will declare their candidacy and begin the campaign process. Each candidate will typically try to visit all of the Units and Clubs
and espouse their personal, work, Masonic & Shrine history, tell us that their Lady supports them, promise to do a good job if elected and ask for the support of those present. From my own experience, typically we thank them for coming and get on with the business of the Unit or Club. Since the successful candidate will become a member of the Temple Board of Directors, shouldn’t we take the opportunity to try to learn as much about each candidate as we can? Shouldn’t we have some challenging questions for them, or are we willing to elect someone just because he’s a good guy, close friend, or has a rich Masonic & Shrine history? Don’t we want to know that the person we are willing to vote for is capable of doing the job? In all fairness, most OG candidates can’t be expected to have a full grasp of the budget and business processes by which the Temple is run. The successful candidate gets to go to school as OG and AR, and serves on the Divan for four years before becoming Potentate to learn those things. We all, however, have an obligation to elect the individual best suited for the job. Shouldn’t we take the time to ask each of them about the issues facing the temple? Let’s start with revenue generation, membership
retention, and temple renovation, and how they believe that they can contribute to those? Shouldn’t we try to ascertain if they have some vision of how to implement their ideas over their Divan tenure? Perhaps through their answers we can learn something about them, and help us decide who is better qualified. Remember that they will be sharing responsibility with the rest of the Divan for managing your Temple. Make your vote count on the first ballot! obles all ~ it has been a busy time since the January 9th elections and YOUR Divan has hit the ground running. As a reminder, the Khedive Temple Rodeo is approaching fast and the Rodeo Committee, working with Nobles Joe Ramsey and Kenny Askew, are again trying to make this event a major Temple fundraiser. So Nobles, be a Rodeo Daddy and send the Rodeo tickets back with $30.00 or more. Or you keep the tickets and send the money in to support the Temple fundraiser. Noble don‘t forget your dues. We have approximately 260 Nobles who haven’t paid their dues for 2016. The Temple has to pay the per capita and hospital

assessment regardless for Nobles who are on the rolls as of January 1st each year. Take a look in your wallet and if you haven‘t paid your dues, please do so. Remember we have to have a Temple before we can support our charity—the Shriner‘s Hospitals for Children. Come on out and support your Temple
hospitality during the Officail visits. In March Susan and I attended Assistant Rabban - School in Tampa. It was very interesting and great to share ideas with our counterparts. We have started the fund raising By Mike Coffman within our Clubs and Units. I hope that you will support these efforts of your fellow Nobles. Please remember your Temple Building Fund when dividing up your proceeds for your events. The Spring Ceremonial is just around the corner. It is incumbent on all of us to find new members so they we may continue the great work Shriners do for our Children and Hospitals. Again I want to thank you for the confidence that you have shown in me by electing me to Assistant Rabban and will continue to work for hard for Khedeve Temple. obles, 3 months have come and gone with the Potentates Ball locally and out of town visitations, Official Visits, fund raisers for some Units and Clubs, and our first parade. This year is going by fast. As you all know, I am the Chairman of the 100 Million Dollar Club. The first quarter we enrolled 18 new members. 16 Nobles, Scooter Patrol and the Lady Hillbillies. Whether you sign up as a group or individual, your donation serves the same purpose, supporting our hospitals for children with special needs. You can be assured that your gift is going to the “Purist” philanthropies. What is the 100 Million Dollar Club? The Club was established in 1971. The Club got its name from its goal of adding 100 million dollars to the endowment fund by gifts or bequests of $100 dollars or more. This program was established with the goal of having 1. Johnny W. 1,000,000 Shriners each contribute $100 dollars to the Shriners Hospital for children. We have never reached that goal. Our membership went down from a high around 950,000 in the years after World War II to approximately 720,000 members. Presently the Shriners International has 257,000 members. Membership should be our main goal to keep this Temple and the Shriners International growing. The Units and Clubs are the backbone of our membership program. They provide the vehicle by which the members can participate in the various functions and the programs of the Shrine. They are the ones that have the activities to both recruit and retain members. Each unit and club should have a membership goal, both for the Temple and the Unit. Each of us must be committed to both these efforts. Last year Illustrious Woody Brown started visiting Blue Lodges in our oasis as well as various civic organizations, including the Lions Club to showcase the important role of the fraternity. To support this effort, besides the “Go Getter Awards Program” which was established last year, we now have the “General MacArthur Award,” recognizing all of our nobles who has recruited 5 or more Nobles as first line signers. This is how it works. For every new Noble recruited as the first line signer, you will receive a star on your certificate. 5 Nobles recruited denotes 5 stars that will make you eligible to receive the GM award. Why the “General MacArthur Award” and how did it come to be? As you know General MacArthur was made a Mason in the Philippines at Manila Lodge #1, F. & A.M. and a member of the Nile

Temple in Washington State. While brainstorming with Illustrious Dick Wright, we connected the 5 stars to the General and he told me it was a good idea. So I pursued the idea and talked to the Director of the MacArthur Memorial and to the Director of the foundation and asked if Khedive could use the image and the name of the General. Both said it is a fitting award. I received an email from Mr. Chris Kolakowski, Director of the memorial on February 18, 2016, giving his full support. On March 9, 2016, the Executive Director of the MacArthur Foundation, Mr. William Davis, Colonel, USMC, Retired, sent me a letter giving his approval. To date we have 43 Nobles who are eligible to receive the award. Nobles will be recognized at our next Spring Ceremonial in June. (see list below). T
hank you for your continued support of the Roadrunners. The Shrine Nite with the Admirals was once again a success. The proceeds from this event are used each year to provide a picnic for our patients. This year the picnic will be on Saturday, June 4th. If you are free that day, come on out and spend some time with us. We would love to have you. We have had numerous comments from outside sources about how well our transportation program runs at Khedive Shrine. Cincinnati has commented about how easy we are to work with. Members of the Greenville Board have asked questions about how our program is organized. Patients who have used transportation from other Shrine Centers have commented on how great our drivers are. We don’t

you want your donation to stay at the hospital you donated it to, you must mark it for a specific project at that hospital. I suggest that when making a donation to a specific hospital that you either contact the Transportation Office or one of our Hospital Board members to find out what projects need funding. Give us a day or two to track down the projects available. This is my tenth year as Director of Transportation. During that time, your continued support has been phenomenal. During this time I have tried to give you a report showing do transportation for accolades from where we are in terms of how much in others; we do it for the love of the donations we are receiving versus how children. am never sure what month the magazine will hit the streets so I am going to guess June. So what is happening in June? The Khedive Rodeo is happening that’s what. It will be held on June 10th and 11th and as always we will be calling on everyone for their help. Stand by committee heads for an e-mail indicating when our first planning meeting will be held. We have been getting better and better working this thing out so let`s keep the ball rolling. The Spring Ceremonial is up next on
June 17th and 18th. Nobles you would have to be blind to see our numbers are shrinking why not reverse the trend and sign up a couple of people? Nobles there are things happening all around you. Greenville Hospital Report By Jody Dudley
T
o my Shrine Family, Greetings from Greenville. We just had our Annual Board Meeting, with more than 300
13
attendees Friday night and nearly 600 Saturday. There were patient stories, hospital tours and much celebration. Folks, this is an annual event, always on the second Saturday in March. I urge you all to come next year and enjoy in the fun and activities. We have just hired our eighth physician who will start in October. We have submitted the budget for 2017 and 2018 to add another operating room. We are very busy. One thing that is great to hear from the Staff in Greenville is how nice our drivers are and how well they interact with the families. This is priceless, and what it’s all about. There have also been comments about how neat and clean our vehicles are. People do notice these things. As we travel into the future, let’s not forget who we are and what we stand for. Philadelphia Hospital Report By Lon Weber
T
he day I write this and the day you are reading my message, we can appreciate that during each of those days, somewhere there are at least 1,000 children being transported to one of our hospitals. We are included in that count as was my brother Lee Weber who is a Roadrunner for the Zor Temple, Madison, Wisconsin. Just last week he made a round trip of 680 miles to and from our Twin Cities Hospital in Minneapolis-St. Paul with an 11 year old Amish boy and his father, which had him returning home past 12:30 AM. This scenario is not unfamiliar for our Khedive Roadrunners and stands as yet another reminder of the daily sacrifices put
forward by our noble Nobles, some of whom are our brothers as well as Brothers. Our Shrine Hospitals provide service to our children and do so because of the service the hospitals receive from countless numbers of selfless contributors, like those of you who are reading this message Too often requests are made for service and too often inadequate thanks are returned. Let this represent a thanks from HOSPITAL to YOU.

Weber, Ph.D., Past President of the Williamsburg Shrine Club and currently a member of the Board of Governor's for the Shriner's Hospital for Children-Philadelphia is shown with a child currently under treatment there. Treatment is provided at any of the 22 hospitals to children without regard of ability to pay. Last year over 130,000 children were cared for as ''Love came to the Rescue.'' The Shrine Club of Williamsburg sponsors a golf outing, spaghetti suppers and accepts donations for the support of the hospitals. SECOND QTR 2016

A
nother parade season is now underway, led off by the Ocean View St. Patrick’s Day Parade where we had 11 cars and 2 riders on the street. Since our Ladies can now ride with us in community events, we also had 5 Ladies enjoying the pre parade breakfast and riding with us in the parade. After the parade we made a pilgrimage to Doumar’s for lunch and a little camaraderie. Our 25th annual car show/craft show/flea market is only 4 months away and we are working hard to make that another success. We meet on the second Monday of each month at the Temple. If you have an old car, special interest car or just enjoy old cars, you are invited to come on out and check us out. Social at 6:00 pm and meeting at 7:00 pm.

ere we are in the second quarter of the year where does time go? The St. Patrick’s Day Parade was great, as it always is and we can’t wait for the next one! We are still in need of members and have cars available so anyone interested in our unit please give myself or any other member a call and we can set it up so you can come out and try one of these little cars out. If you have never driven one of these little cars trust me you will love it and there is nothing more wonderful than seeing the faces of the children, young of older, when they see you go by in one of these cars. You are more than welcome to come out to our meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 PM in our meeting room at the Temple. Come on by and say hello! W
ow! Did you see all the Clowns at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade? The numbers are going up so you boys must be doing something right. Kind of looking like the good old days. Did anyone notice the mystery Clown (tall Clown photo right) in attendance? That was none other than Illustrious Sir Chris “Shorty” Fratello Past Potentate 2015, Al Aska Temple in Anchorage, Alaska. Boy did he stand out in a crowd. He even stopped by the Easter Egg Hunt the next day to lend a hand. Sorry I could not be there fellows but I have a bum wheel I had to deal with. There are Parades up the yen yang on the schedule why not come on out and make a few. Don`t forget the Rodeo is coming up on June 10/11 and Harry “BoBo” Tew will be calling on you to help out in the blow up area. And last but certainly not least Clown BBQ. You know you want some and you know we have some. So now is as good a time as ever to give one of the Clown members a call so he can hook you up with a pound or two. Or you can just drop by the Temple and get up with the “go to guy” Leroy Lane and he will be more than willing to help you out. Last but certainly not least the Clowns are always looking for smiling faces so if you would like to experience firsthand what it is like to see a child`s face light up with delight stop by one of our meetings. Khedive Carts By Captain Elwood Paschal, P.P.
T
his is the first article from the Khedive Carts. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade was our first parade ever. There were four of us on the street – Captain Elwood Paschal, P.P., who was accompanied by First Lieutenant Joe Register, P.P.; Paul Scott, our Secretary/Treasurer; Chuck Taylor, accompanied by his father, Charlie Taylor, P.P., Chuck’s wife Lady Michaela and daughter Lauren; and Les Aker, accompanied by Lady Debbie Lewis. It was a great day to make our debut!! Our second parade, the Daffodil Parade, was a disappointing rain-out! The Carts has been formed as a parade unit – a fun unit. We will not perform any competition or stand inspection. The only requirement is that you own a golf cart that can be safely operated on the street. The Carts meet on the first Monday of the month in the Khedive Motor Patrol / Khedive Carts room at 7:00 pm. Our meetings are open to everyone – hope to see you there! Elwood Paschal, P.P. Khedive Shrine Band By Secretary Kevin Gilbert
H
ello once again to all Khedive nobles and their ladies. It hardly seems possible but three months have already come and gone in 2016. The Shrine Brass Band has had a busy and exciting start to the year. Members of the Brass Band have been practicing our new music as well as some of our cherished standards. We have a busy month or two coming up relative to performances. Since we last checked in we performed on our float in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade alongside the other units from Khedive Temple. We would like to thank Noble Gary Sherman, member of the Roadrunners and the Chesapeake Shrine club for driving our float in the parade. Although the weather
was cold and damp our lively numbers energized the band members and crowd along the parade route. We also had a performance earlier in the year at the Bay Lake Retirement & Assisted Living Community. We especially like playing venues like Bay Lake. The residents really enjoy our music and we enjoy their company.
The band members participated with the Drum and Bugle Corps in a “paper drive” held in March where we collected for the Shrine at the Sam’s Club on Virginia Beach Boulevard. A good time was had by all who participated and money as always goes to a good cause. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to cancel our Spring Swing Dance that was to be held at the Khedive Shrine Center on May 7th. The Brass Combo Band is gearing up to participate in the Norfolk NATO Day parade and we will be performing with the Notables at the Pungo Strawberry Festival May 28th and at the Ocean view series Big Bands on the Bay on June 19th. Please come out and see us. There is plenty of the room for dancing and the music will be great. If you have played an instrument in the past or just want to be a part of a growing unit, we are always looking for new members. We need a full time driver for the parades and can always use help with equipment and other things. We rehearse at the Shrine Activities Building Tuesday evenings. ear Nobles, Things are great in Surprising Suffolk. We had a successful Fish fry in March. It was very nice to see all the Nobles from the Temple come way out to Suffolk to fellowship with us. Because of the support from our Club and other clubs and units in the Temple, we were able to have one the best fish fry’s we have had in a long time. Thank You.
On April 14th, we had an Oyster Roast Social. We were trying to use this as a recruiting tool to attract Blue Lodge members. A good time was had by all. We have been constantly working on our building. We had a work day and painted the interior. We have many necessary project lined up for the near future. Come on out and grab a paint brush. Come on out to our monthly meeting

Directors Staff By Director Watt Perley
O
n 10 March 2016 at the invitation of Illustrious Sir Woody Brown, I attended my second Century Club Luncheon. The Century Club membership, with number 1 on the list dates from 1944 to number 100 on the list in 2016. The most senior member in attendance was James Evans, number 8, from 1948. These are the 100 most senior members of Khedive Temple in regards to length of service. There were 19 Century Club members in attendance, members of the Divan, and a select few Past Potentates, this is a fun time, with the fellowship and stories of the past 50 years, and a great lunch (photos).
The Potentate welcomed all in attendance, and recognized each Century Club member, and asked each to reflect on their 50 plus years as a member of Khedive Temple. Richard “Dick“ Wright, P.P., number 86 told of his first night in May 1962 as a member of the Directors Staff, when he had to climb up a ladder to get in the rear stage door to the old Shrine Temple, to become a Staff member, for the next 50 plus years. He also noted that the Staff is the only Unit or Club with two Life Members, and members of the Century Club, Richard Wright, P.P. and Watt Perley number 83. Henry “Hank“ Foiles, number 91, told how he played in the first Oyster Bowl game for Granby High School, a game Granby won. He said he saw all those “Old Men“ with funny Red Hats, who were working to support Shrine Hospitals for Children, and he knew that it was something he would like to do. Now a Master Mason and a
Shriner, and former Big League Baseball Player he told us how it changed his life. He then asked us to think about the changes that have taken place in our schools in the past few years, the removal of School Prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. He asked us to ponder this when we vote in November. Thank you Hank. Now for all the “Motor Heads,” congratulations to a second generation Staff member Robert L. “Bob” Parrish who has just become the President of the Antique Automobile Club of America, a national organization with 375 chapters and about 60,000 members, with about 300 in the Tidewater chapter, for the year 2016. Good Luck Bob and Dot, “ See the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet.” After the luncheon I had the opportunity to talk to our Chief Rabban John Howe, about the future membership, dues and the changes our Temple has endured in the past few years. The Temple has lost 279 Nobles in the year 2015. Where do we go from here, with under 2000 Nobles, how can we recruit our brother Masons, in these uncertain times and what can we offer them to make them want to become a Shriner in Khedive Temple. May God Bless our Shrine Temple and our Directors Staff.

Chesapeake Shrine Club By Secretary Joe Ramsey
W
ell the 2016 Oyster Roast is in the history books. Almost 2,100 people came through the gates not including the workers who were already inside the gate. I would like to send a special Club “shout out” to everyone who bought tickets, sold tickets or worked the event. We could not have made it happen without you. I personally would like to thank Bill Lauterbach and Randy Murphy who took care of business in my absence. I also want to thank everyone who attended the Hampton Roads Show for my special message. I have had good days and bad and that really brighten my day. And Randy the baked potatoes were great as well. Speaking about the Oyster Roast our very own “Chairman Emeritus” Eddie Hodges is currently rehabbing from heart by-pass surgery. Please keep Betty and Eddie and the family in your prayers as they work through this long healing process. Moving right along the Khedive Rodeo this year is on June 10th and 11th. The Club will once again be manning the concession tent. We generally have a good crowd of people assisting us I hope this year will be the same. July at the Club is Father/Son/Daughter night so grab your special little ones or as the case may be grown ones and come on out and join us. President Dave is still searching for the secret ingredient to get our monthly attendance back up. Do you have any ideas? If so please let us know. Every night is “Bring a friend night” at the Club. Remember your Lodge needs Masons and your Temple needs candidates have you signed anyone up lately? Chesapeake Shrine Club 3rd Monday of the month, social starts at 6:00 and the meal is a 7:00. Color Guard By Secretary/Treasurer Pat Garrison Greetings from the “Number One Unit” of the Khedive Shrine! Congratulations to Chris Dell who back in December, took over as the 2016 Captain of the Khedive Color Guard. Of course, he then decided to go out in February and get in a motorcycle accident! Captain Chris is OK but did suffer a fractured ankle in the accident. He was very disappointed that he was unable to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade with his unit however, thanks to the Khedive Clowns, he did proudly put on his uniform and ride the route in a golf cart in true Color Guard fashion!

The Color Guard would like to take this opportunity to reach out to our fellow units in hopes that we may be able to raise some money by cooking or helping with some of their events/fundraisers. As many of you know, many of our members are involved in the kitchen supporting the Chesapeake Shrine Club throughout the year and would love to provide support for you. The Color Guard is a very small unit and we are always looking for new members. he Ocean View St. Patrick’s Day was a joyful success, with over two dozen strong. We proudly represented The Beat of Khedive. Our Energy wowed them at the Columbia Hall, VFW, & Democratic Society Club. It was a great time for everyone and we got the Shrine message out. The festivities were highlighted by the Nobles celebrating the wearing of the green literally with “Green Beards, Mustaches and Green hair.” Richard rolled with happiness behind Jack & Jimmy’s direction.
Drum & Bugle Corps in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Our Annual Khedive Drum & Bugle Corps Paper Crusade is traditionally held on Easter Weekend. This is the second busiest retail weekend, surpassed only by the Christmas retail shopping period. We meet the public to address our philanthropy for the Shiners’ Hospitals and Transportation Fund. With fantastic weather we exceeded our goals. We teamed with the Khedive Band, and comprised to get the message out: “Together in Unity!” The D & B annual Fish Fry was well-attended event that showcases our cooking talents that include: Franks Beans & Slaw, Clam Chowder, Hushpuppies, hot dogs, highlighted with Jacks & the Motor Corps’ Fried Fish. We were thankful for the services of the Churchland Jobs Daughters. The Combined Corps members and invited guest, “Jammed together” for outstanding patriotic and family tunes. The Ladies of the Drum & Bugle Corps put out an amazing desert table. We were entertained by the Footers’ auctioneer. All in all a great day was had by everyone at the Khedive Shrine Center. Sunday, April 2, 2017 is our next Fish Fry. Monday, May 2nd is the annual Drum & Bugle/18 Wheeler Golf tournament. The Ocean View Golf Course provides great refreshments and fellowship.

The Holland Parade is quickly approaching; this is a short but happy parade. June 10th & 11th is the Khedive Rodeo, we will be playing the National Anthem with combined Bands. The Spring Ceremonial is June 17th & 18th, invite a new member. We will have special Meet-Eat-Greet-Drink-room to demonstrate the advantages of joining the Drum & Bugle Corps. Our Ladies of the Drum Corps should be recognized for their special project. For many-many, years they have cut and sewn colorful pillow cases with new pillows to donate to our hospital children. Our Roadrunners transported dozens of bags of pillows to Greenville. Previously they crafted Teddy Bears and Colorful Slippers. Please keep our Shrine children, sick and distressed in your thoughts and prayers. Remember to give thanks to the men and women protecting our country, past and present. reeting Nobles, We in the Camaro unit are excited for what the remainder of the year has in store. Parade season is already off to a bang and we are eager to continue supporting our Temple. We have many exciting activities upcoming. In addition to participating in the planned parades this year we are planning a paper drive in early June, a unit cookout (where all friends and those interested in the unit are welcomed), and a fundraiser sometime this summer.
Our competition chairman, Lt. John Conroy, is already preparing for competition at MASA and SASA. We hope to add a few new maneuvers and bring home some trophies. We also look forward to continuing to support our Potentate, Ill. Sir Woody Brown and our outstanding Divan. The future of Khedive Temple is in great hands for years to come. We will continue to exemplify “Strength in Unity” and support our Symbolic Lodges and Appendant Bodies, while promoting the Shrine. After another outstanding Oyster Roast, it reminds me of the fun and fellowship we can have, all while support an outstanding cause like our Shriner’s Children Hospitals. Remember
to support your Temple as often as you can. Especially with upcoming fun events like the Rodeo, we hope to see everyone there! We are always interested in new members to our unit, and encourage anyone interested to stop by the unit room on the third Monday of every month. Promote the Shrine to your Masonic friends and family. Our Spring Ceremonial is coming up quickly on June 18, with the open house the night before. he Knights of Mecca held their spring meeting in March at the Black Pelican Resturant in Greenbriar Mall.. It was the official visit of the Potentate and his Divan. A good time was had by all. President Eddie Contada welcomed all and took care of some business before dinner. One point of interest was voting on three new members, who paid by cash, and where immediately accepted. Cash is good. The new members are Wor Walter “Dink” Pope, Wor John D Brown, and Wor. Richard Smith. A vote was taken to again support the Golf Classic, the Rodeo, and the Seafood Fest. We are working for a good year in support of our Potentate,

Ill Sir Woody Brown. The Pote gave an interesting report and updated his calendar for the next few months. To all who are Past Masters and are members of the shrine, this club is for you. reetings Nobles! Spring has sprung and we’re off and running! We do wonderful things for those who need it; being a Philanthropist is a Noble thing. But it is easy to lose focus on the overall mission when we’ve departed from our Brothers. It’s all too easy to grow complacent, particularly after years of traversing offices and ultimately, holding the Chief’s gavel. After we’ve reached our pinnacle, human nature tends to look for the “next thing” or rest on the old cliché’, “Been there, done that.” Well, Brother Nobles, I’m here to tell you that it is really just the beginning of a journey. Once we master our skills, we owe it to each other, more especially up and coming Nobles to mentor and lead. If we don’t, we’re squandering our knowledge the opportunities to fellowship with our Brothers. We must all reinvigorate ourselves and remind each other why we became Shriners in the first place; it all starts with being PRESENT in the moment. If you’ve been on the sidelines or off of the field entirely, know that you are missed. So, come on out to some meetings if it’s been a while, enjoy dinner and fun times afterward. We are so looking forward to seeing you all again. A lot of good times are yet to come but it’s up to each and every one of us. Be counted, be heard - be present!

reetings one and all, winter has come and gone and so has the first quarter and it was a busy one. Most everyone is aware of the Virginia Beach Shrine Club’s new address, Virginia Beach National Golf Club on Princess Anne Road. So far the reviews have been a resounding success. Not to say we don’t have a few wrinkles to iron out but we are well on our way. In February our Potentate Ills Sir Woody Brown stopped by for his official visit. Approximately 80 people were in attendance that night and it was just
about standing room only. A group somewhat larger than expected but we made it through the night and had a nice evening We are still on the hunt for a secretary. If you or someone you know is interested in this position please contact myself, Nominating Chairman Bill Keating or any officer for more information. Motor Corps once again participated in our Parade opener, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ocean View. What a great day and with the large and sometimes overly enthusiastic crowds this is the super bowl of our parades. We would all like to thank Ill. Sir Bill Kern for again opening his home to us and providing us with an outstanding breakfast for the parade, always a good time.
I would be remiss if I did mention what a great time we all had at the Potentate’s Ball in February. I have to say it was one of the best to date, it was well planned out, the food was

These guys are always involved in these events. The Scooter Patrol Golf Tournament has been postponed - to be announced new date. It is expected that our neighbors from AGILA Shrine Temple in the Philippines will be in Tampa and the Scooter Patrol will endeavor to greet them and entertain them as they are Honorary members of the Scooter Patrol and we look forward to doing just that. he Scooter Patrol participated n the St. Patricks day parade and was well represented by Scooter members. The parade seems to get longer every year. We were ready with anticipation for the Daffodil parade but alas it was cancelled due to bad weather. Our next endeavor is the NATO parade coming up on 23 April in Norfolk and we are looking forward to it. NATO is a fast parade and the best parade of the year and it allows the Scooter members to open up their scooters to a fast speed. Our biggest project is getting ready for Tampa and the nighttime parade on the 4th.

The first weekend in April the Motor Corps ladies headed to Nag Head for a girls only weekend of shopping, fine dining and getting away from us. Motor Corps is a motorized unit with a NASCAR theme that is always looking for new active members. If you are looking for an active, fun and tight nit unit we are the unit for you. So come check us out, we meet the 4th Tuesday of the month, 6pm social, 7pm dinner and bring you wife, ladies go to diner at 6:30 while we meet. reetings again from The Khedive Shrine Golf Club. Back when the club was planning our 2016 golf season, we sent out 173 letters to our last year members (Shriners & Guest Members) and guess what, just about all of last year’s members have rejoin and paid their dues for the 2016 season. Several of the last year’s members dropped out and these openings were filled with last year (2015) prospective members that were on the last year’s waiting list. The Khedive Shrine Golf Club is still taking prospective applications, but remember we have to fill any opening first with Shriners and then with guest members as we get openings. We played our first outing on March 15, 2016 at the Cahoon Plantation Golf Course and the Illustrious Potentate, Woody Brown was there to greet and thank all the members for their support and donations helping our Kids and the Khedive Transportation Fund. We had over 120 players signed up to play the first outing this year, but it rained the day before our outing and we were playing cart path only that day. Normally we would lose approximately 35 to 40 percent of the players when it is cart path only, but we still put 114 players on the golf course that day, which made the Pro at Cahoon Plantation very pleased. This 2016 golf season has started out being a very wet and unusual. The first 3 outing the golf courses were wet and the fourth outing at Kempville Greens was canceled due to rain, snow, 40 mile winds and low 40 degree temperature. We had over 110 player signed up to play that morning, but
due to the weather conditions only three cold hearted teams decided they were going to play any way. These guys are what we call cold weather golfers or some might just called them crazy. These three teams must enjoy golf that much, but I think they don’t want to go home or they can’t go home because it is the wife’s day without the husband. Until the next Hi-Noble issue, hit them straight, keeping them in the fairway, putt- true and mostly enjoy the fellowship we have with Khedive Shrine Golf Club. Note: Duffer’s Dictionary of Advice: As defined by the rules of golf, “any counsel or suggestion made by one golfer to another about the choice of club, method of play or means of executing a shot, which contains no more than five errors of fact, contradictory statements or harmful recommendations. Six or more such pieces of misinformation or misinstruction shall constitute a formal golf lesson.” Khedive’s Potentate and the Temple wants to give a Big Thanks to all its members (Shriners and Guest Members), the different organizations and businesses for supporting and making donations to the Khedive Shrine Transportation Fund supporting the 22 Shriner Hospitals for Children. hile in Port, I’ll find time to write to ya’s and update you on Swashbuckler doin’s. Other than Pirate’n and Pillagin’, we’re doing a mighty fine job of having fun. Having fun and raising money for or Shriner Kids is what it’s all about and we’re very proud in doing just that. We sailed in the Parade season opener, The O.V. St. Pat’s Day Parade. What a blast!!! I believe that was the most attended parade ever. Take note of the picture right. That’s Swashbuckler Smitty with one of our Shriner Kids Gabi. Gabi, along with her Mother and Sister had the time of their lives sailing aboard The Bounty of Hope (our Ship). We’re gearing up for some Shipwrecks. If you’re wondering what a Shipwreck is, that’s our name for Pirate Parties. Thank You Lady Pirate Wendy and Swashbuckler Jo for hosting our 1st Shipwreck of the
year. The Buckler’s are steady planning for our 5th Ever Pig Pickin’. This Fundraiser will take place September 24th, 2016 2-5pm. See the flyers posted all over the Temple walls. The Swashbucklers meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month. We socialize from 6-7pm. C’mon out and visit. I hear cannon fire!!! Gotta go!! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! SECOND QTR 2016

reeting from the Shack, Spring has sprung and so have the Hillibillies. To get an early start we held our first ever Hillbillie flap-jack breakfast on the morning of the Potentate’s Ball at Applebee’s on Kempsville Road. The breakfast was so well received it will be an annual event set on the morning of the Potentate’s Ball. But hold on, there’s more, another flap-jack breakfast is being planned for this summer. If all goes well this too will become an annual event. With the Pote’s Ball and flap-jacks aside, we headed into March and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The unit pulled Rocky Top, the band bus, Charlie, and the Caddy out of mothballs, dusted “em” off and away we went. Unfortunately the Caddy had other plans and watched the parade from the sidelines. Our ladies didn’t watch the parade from
the sidelines. They hopped on board and paraded with the guys and a lot of fun they had. Don’t know what they enjoyed more, the parade or all the jello shooters they collected. Following the parade we had a good old fashioned Hillbillie corn beef and cabbage dinner prepared by world renowned chef extraordinaire David Swoop. The Shack was packed that night and I don’t think a morsel was left behind. A big Hillbillie thank you also goes out to all y’all lovely ladies that contributed to making this event memorable. However, I think everyone thought the Amish potato salad was the best, it was my potato salad and I’m typing this article, so a little room if you please Dave! On March 23rd the Hillibillies hosted Potentate Ills Sir Woody Brown for his official visit along with the Divan. This proved to be a very informative meeting and looks like Khedive is moving forward with some great leadership. Until next time brethren, Assistant Director Scott Slocum

reetings from the Khedive Motor Patrol. It is that time of the year when things start to happen around the Shrine Center with parades, unit fundraisers, and other events. In January several of our members took a road trip to Sunbury N.C., in the snow I might add, to visit our member Vernon Rice who is under the weather. We had a good visit and hope to see him soon. It is sad to report that the Khedive Horse Patrol has disbanded after 38 years. They will be missed. The Motor Patrol welcomes our new roommates, the Khedive Carts and wish them the best. A special thanks to the members who helped with the long overdue renovation of our unit room. Because of their hard work and donations it turned out great. Come by and check it out at the Khedive Spring Open House June 17th.
Hillbillies St. Patrick’s Day Parade The Motor Patrol participated in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Ocean View March 19th. It is by far one of the best parades we do all year. Our friends from Acca Shrine Motor Patrol in Richmond joined us. It was very impressive to have fifteen white Harleys on the street. They had a good time and plan to come back next year. Our competition team has started practicing for the MASA and SASA conventions. We are also in the early planning stages for the Imperial session in Daytona Beach Florida next year. The Motor Patrol Meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. in our unit room. If you own a Harley Davidson motorcycle and looking to join a great unit, come by and visit us. s always, the Second Quarter was a busy time for the Legion of Honor. During our first business meeting in January, CDR John Jones had the pleasure to install our three newest members, Noble Herbert Hearst, Harold Campbell, and J.J. Willis. Also, 1st Vice CDR Greg Gustafson started a monthly program about what happened on this day in the military for each branch of the service. On February 20th we presented the colors for the Shrine Night with the Admirals. Colors were presented by SASA Adj./PC/Ill. Pete Gordon, PC R.G. Brown, PC Jack Laursen, 1st Vice CDR Greg Gustafson, and photo by CDR John Jones. On March 6th the LOH had there annual BBQ, with entertainment provided by the Khedive Hill Billy Band and the Suffolk Peanut City Cloggers. ur unit wishes to thank you for your participation in the numerous events and worthy causes supported by the Khedive Temple. Please, if you are friends with other Master Masons, invite them to further enjoy Freemasonry by joining our Temple. Our order is in need of new members if we are to continue our efforts to support Shrine charitable activities. Our year has started out with members socializing with our fraternal brothers and sisters sharing in the Khedive Temple’s festivities. Included was the Potentate’s Ball and reception with the Divan and Illustrious Woody Brown and Lady Terry, Shrine night with the Admirals, Simonsdale Dance, and Chesapeake Shrine Clubs Oyster Roast. The initial highlight of the 2016 parade season kicked off with ”The Saint Patrick’s Day Parade” in Ocean View on March 19th with an impressive decorated convoy of our members mini rigs. We look forward to taking part in the upcoming Gloucester Daffodil Parade, The NATO parade, the Holland Parade and the Strawberry Festival Parade. We are moving forward on our concentrated effort improve our golf tournament scheduled on May 2nd. Again it will be held at the Ocean View Golf Course in Norfolk. Florida best ball, four person teams, sixty dollar entry fee per person. We are still looking for “Hole Sponsors” starting at $50 per hole. We are also looking forward to our units’ participation in the Khedive Rodeo June 10th & 11th.

T
he first quarter is complete under the leadership of Illustrious Woody and his Divan It has been with great success and we look forward to continued success. The Theme for the year “Strength thru Unity” will with the many visits planned to the Blue Lodges expand the cooperation and understanding between the Temple and the Lodges. These visits hopefully will encourage growth in membership. It is with heavy hearts that we must honor and recognize the passing of Past Captain Winton Ward (1995). Captain Ward served the Guard for many years in numerous appointments and received Provost of the year in 1997 and was a life member. Captain Ward continued as Chairman of the Bylaws committee for many years because of his fair and level evaluation of issues brought before the committee. Captain Ward was a Gentleman’s Gentleman and will be sorely missed.

John has come on board ready and willing to be an active part of the Guard as evidenced by his participation in the St Patrick day parade and the Chesapeake Oyster roast. Welcome John. Provost participated in the Saint Patrick Day Parade with all of the glitz and glamour of a local Mardi Gras. A great time was had by all from breakfast to the refreshment tent at the end. It was the first time Our Ladies were invited to ride in the parade and several accepted the invite and truly enjoyed the event and opportunity. Hopefully this will become an annual opportunity. The Spring BBQ fund raiser was a great success thanks to all of the nobility who came out and supported the Provost in this endeavor. French fries by our Fry Masters Butch Casper and Roy McKinney were again consumed with enthusiasm as 100 lbs of spuds were fried to perfection. They were assisted by Mike Cannon. Allan Cannon, Jay White and Gwinn Dunbar provided a great breakfast for the workers. As Captain I personally thank all members who assisted beginning with the grinding of fresh BBQ on Thursday to final cleanup Sunday.

Peninsula Shrine Club By President Bruce Edwards
N
obles, Welcome to Spring! As they say, in the Spring an old man’s fancy turns to, tuning up the lawn mower, planting their gardens, swinging a golf club or firing up the barbeque for a cookout. And a young man’s fancy turns to …...... well I hope you are not too old to fill in the blank. Anyway Nobles, may this Spring find each of you and your loved ones in good health and looking forward to the Summer months. This year has moved very fast for most of us. To briefly recap, in January Noble Jerry Burks, of Burks Accounting, Bookeeping and Tax Service made a timely presentation about changes in the tax regulation. In February we were honored to have our Potentate, Illustrious Woody Brown and the Divan make their offical visit to our Club. They discussed the Potentate’s theme of “Strenth in Unity.” During our March meeting, Worshipful Brian Croteau made an informative presentation on Masons that fought at the Battle of Yorktown. Our April meeting was our Annual Ladies night with a special dinner and a sweet treat to honor their support of the Club. Mr. Robert Miller and his son presented a moving program about their experience at one of our Shriner Hospitals. I hope each of you have enjoyed our meetings this year. For those members that have not been with us, I encourage you to attend. As you can see we have informative programs and it is a good opportunity to get reaquainted with your brothers. We meet the 4th Monday of each month at Steve’s Steak House, 11847 Jefferson Ave., Newport News. Social at 6:00 p.m.; dinner at 6:30 p.m. As part of Illustrious Woody Brown’s theme for “Strength in Unity,” he is asking each of us to visit our Blue Lodges, rekindle friendships and make our Lodge members aware of what Shrinedom is all about, including our

Transportation Program and the 22 Shriner Hosipitals that we work to support. Nobles, membership is the key to all our our Masonic organizations. Don’t be shy about being a proud Shriner. Mention to a friend or neighbor about the good work we do. Tell them about a Shrinner Hospital story you may know, or ask, did you see the moving TV commercial about one of our Shrinner Kids? And last, but not least, occasionally boast about what Masons and Shriners are all about. Nobles this success story continues through our dedication and hard work. As fund raisers for 2016 the PSC will once again team with the Tidewater Shrine Club and continue with our Vidalia Onion Sales. For the last two years this fund raiser has proven to be a very successful project. Last year we sold 200 10 pound bags of onions and hope to sell at least that many this year. The exact time of the sale will depend on when the farmers ship the onions (usually May). Our continued success depends on you. I would appreciate your active participation in the Vidalia Onion Sale Fund Raiser. Please commit to buying or selling at least two bags. Pre-sales are very important, so please start taking orders now. May will be here soon. We will also have a “Paper Drive” on Friday and Saturday, June 3rd, and 4th at Pop’s Restaurant in York County at the corner of Route 17 and Denbigh Blvd. For those who are not familiar with or have not participated in a “Paper Drive,” this may be one of our easiest fund raisers. We normally set up a table and contribution bucket at the entrance to a local business/restaurant. We wear our Fez and Shrine shirts and solicit money for the Shriner Transportation Fund. I have never had a bad experience and have always been well received by the public, often receiving compliments for
the good work we do. We also meet many Brother Masons. I will have sign up sheets available at our next meeting. Shrine Plaque sales are another opportunity for our club to raise money for the Shriner Hospitals. The plaque can be displayed in your home, office or business. Please consider renewing your plaque for 2016 or becoming a first time plaque owner. Plaque sales are not limited to Shrine members. Consider approaching a friend or business owner about purchasing a tax deductible Shriner Hospitals plaque. The cost is $100 each. Our Fishing Trip for this year will be Thursday, June 23rd. It will be a charted fishing boat leaving out of downtown Hampton at 6:30AM and returning at 11:30AM. Cost is $35 per person which includes bait, rod and reel. Coolers are allowed. This is not only a fun outing but a fund raiser for our Club. I have taken my grandchildren several times and there is nothing better than the smile on their face when they reel in a fish. Tidewater Shrine Club By Treasurer Scott Traner
G
reetings and Salutations my fellow Princes of the Desert, Tidewater Shrine Club wishes you all a scintillating Spring. As you read this we have completed our paper drive and I am happy to report we have reached our $2000.00 goal. We want to thank all the brothers who supported us as usual and also thanks to all the donors. As you have read here before I have been lucky enouth to benefit myself tremendously from activities like this. I would like to single out one of our donors from Easter weekend. We received many generous donations but one stood out in my mind. One lady came up to me and was speaking so kindly of the Shriners, she said she did not have much but felt like she had to give. She reached into her pocketbook and pulled out a roll of pennies. It was obvious to me that she didn’t have much as she had rolled her change to come shopping. My brothers she didn’t have much but she donated to our cause. It is moments like this that makes all our work worthwhile and I can only ask of everyone that they participate in activities like this so they can receive the thanks I really felt at that moment. I truly believe you will feel thanked and worth wile even while we help our kids. The Daffodil Parade was cancelled, but Noble Mitch Dunston had prepared his famous clam chowder so we were still the recpiants of good food. Every month I would like to spotlight one of our members so I will mention Mitch now. Mitchell “Powhatan” Dunston does so much for our club. He makes the chowder, he has maintained his dump truck and the old truck for many years. He is responsible for getting our cards out for sympathy or remembrance or whatever the occasion. I feel blessed to know and learn how to be a charitable person from Mitch and we can all take a lesson from him. We have our onions coming in the first or second week of April, weather permitting, and we will let all know then they can have a chance to get the super sweet Vidalia onions. The club has a picnic in the planning, a ladies night and also more fund raisers as the ideas roll in. We are busy but it is all for a worthwhile cause. “Our kids.” That’s enough for this issue, hopefully I am leaving you wanting more. I love this Fraternity and we look forward to working with the Temple and other clubs and units to fulfill our main reason for being - all our children. Come see us at Nicks restaurant at the bottom of the Coleman bridge on the Gloucester side the third Thursday of the month. Social hour is at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. reetings again from the Northwest corner of Khedive territory! The Williamsburg Shrine Club has had a very busy first Quarter of 2016. Our new leadership team guided by Noble President Tom Damon has set forth a very aggressive list of fundraising activities for the year. During 2016 we plan on having two spaghetti dinners, two paper drives, and coming up on May 14 we’ll once again be hosting our annual Golf Tournament at the Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg. Coupled with the golf tournament will be a Titleist Demo Day hosted by the Kiskiack Club Pro and Shriner Supporter Mark Houston. Please come out and participate if you can. Foursome and Hole Sponsor forms are available at the Kiskiack Pro Shop or from any Williamsburg Shrine Club golf committee member.
We’re happy to say that at the upcoming Spring Ceremonial we’re going to we have four new candidates join our club and the Khedive family. his article is being written to honor a great past member of Khedive Yacht Club. While reading the March 2016 “Shriner Magazine” I saw an article about President Jimmy Carter and his wife being announced as ambassadors for Shriners Hospitals for Children. My thoughts go back a few years and I believe that a former member of our club could possibly be responsible for the Carter’s feelings for the Shriners’ Hospital.

Our Former member, and Past Commodore, Howard N. Larcombe, Jr. (Lou) was a roommate of Mr. Carter when they both attended the U. S. Naval Academy. Over the years their paths crossed many times and Barbara and Lou and Jimmy and Rosalynn remained close friends. We in the Yacht Club knew of this relationship, but it was a private matter and was not talked about. That was the example that Lou expressed about everything in his life. Lou and I sat on the back of our boats many evenings discussing world affairs, local politics, how deep could a submarine go and many other questions to a learned man. Two answers that I never got from Lou. How deep can a submarine go? Are you a democrat or a republican? Their friendship, The Carters and the Larcombes, continued until Lou’s Death in July of 2005. Noble Lou and Lady Barbara were in the presence of President Carter many times throughout the years and this writer believes that Lou’s love of Masonry and of the Shriner’ s Hospitals was evident in his example and likely was an influence in this matter. ON JUNE 6, 1876, the Imperial Council, the governing body of the Shriners fraternity, was founded. To celebrate and recognize this important milestone in our history, Shriners International has declared June 6th Shriners International Awareness Day. On this day, nobles everywhere are encouraged to celebrate their great fraternity and raise awareness of the importance of our organization in their communities. The leadership of Shriners International is mindful that June 6 is also honored as D-Day, the day in 1944 when Allied forces landed on the beach in Normandy to begin the invasion of northern France. This event is considered to be a turning point in World War II, as it forced the German Army to fight on two fronts simultaneously. While Shriners International certainly honors the valor and courage of everyone who served on D-Day, many historic events happen on a single day. And June 6 also holds a separate special meaning for our fraternity, as the day we first had a governing body. Shriners International urges all nobles to display their pride in the fraternity by wearing a fez (when appropriate), hat, shirt, lapel pin, or other item with the fraternity’s logo. In addition to wearing Shriner apparel, Shriners International encourages all temples and Shrine clubs to organize special events at their temples and in their communities to honor the achievements of the organization. These events will also support membership efforts. The more information we share about our fraternity, the more we build potential for membership growth.

“Shriners International Awareness Day is the perfect opportunity to showcase our great fraternity. Please honor our history by sharing both our heritage and your own story of being a Shriner, as well as our mission to improve the lives of children and make the world a better place,” said Jerry G. Gantt, Imperial Potentate. “Highlighting the different ways our fraternity impacts the world around us will also inspire our nobles and motivate potential members to learn more about us.” This international day of recognition is an annual opportunity for Shriners to share information about the fraternity, its history and the benefits of becoming part of an organization dedicated to fun, fellowship and philanthropy.
Plenty of Ways to Participate Here are a few ways both nobles and temples can get involved:
Wear your fez on Shriners International Awareness Day when appropriate (during an official Shriners function).
Show pride in Shriners International by wearing a hat,
shirt, lapel pin, or other item with the fraternal logo. Your family members can also wear appropriate clothing items that promote the fraternity.
Organize an event at your temple or in your local
community. Inviting the public to participate will increase awareness and interest in both your local temple and Shriners International.
Promote Shriners International Awareness Day on your temple website and social media pages. Announce the date at all club and unit meetings to ensure all nobles are informed.
Distribute the Shriner Primer and pocket petition to potential prospects during community events.
Hold an Open House at your temple. Host a Media Night. Ask family members to take fraternal literature (brochures, etc.) to their place of employment, if permitted.

REETINGS from the KRD. The KRD is on a roll!!! We are growing by leaps and bounds and have been quite busy since last Fall. First of all, congratulations to our new Director, Todd Knight. Todd along with the other officers and members of the unit look forward to a GREAT 2016. We have already started off with a bang with our first annual New Year’s dance followed up by a repeat of the Sweetheart Dance in February. The New Year’s dance lit up the temple on New Year’s Eve with over 200 people in attendance. In February, despite the snow, our Sweetheart Dance once again turned out to be a fantastic evening and successful event for us. A great time was had by all who braved the weather. We thank all who attended these events to support us and Shrinedom. We would also like to welcome three new members to the KRD: Nobles Howard Sawyer, Ray Stanfield, and Jim Clark. These Nobles have already jumped right in by participating in the St. Patrick’s Day parade and we look forward to having them at future parades and ceremonials as well as we continue our support of Shriners Hospitals and our great Temple.

Preparations are under way for the Spring Ceremonial. We invite all Shriners (and if the Potentate declares it to be an Open Ceremonial, their Ladies and family) to come out and enjoy watching the KRD at work during the initiation ceremony in June. We work real hard to put on a first rate performance and will do our best to make sure our incoming Nobles “get their money’s worth.” We will also be out there on the Street in 2016 at parades, the Shrine Paper Drive, our Rodeo, MASA, at temple and unit fund-raisers, and wherever else Shriners are out having fun and raising awareness for our hospitals. Please come join us and JOIN The Fun! Last, but certainly not least, we welcome all Shriners (and Masons who may be interested in becoming Shriners) to
