Charlene L. Jenkins, CEO CEP RFC of Jenkins Wealth Retirement & Solutions, has spent over a decade helping individuals take control of their financial future. As a registered financial consultant and certified estate planner, she provides guidance on annuities, life insurance, and retirement planning, ensuring her clients' financial security.
"I assist my clients to make sure that their investments and their retirement vehicles will last them their lifetime," Charlene explains. "I'm into longevity." Her approach is deeply rooted in faith, with "In God We Trust" embedded in her business philosophy. "We need more of that in our world. We need more God," she emphasizes. Beyond financial planning, she builds relationships, ensuring clients understand their options and make informed decisions.
One of Charlene’s primary focuses is helping clients create a reliable income source through fixed index and guaranteed annuities. "My products allow you to self-create your own pension with the income riders attached to what I do," she says, emphasizing stability and security.
She is also passionate about educating younger generations on early financial planning. "Annuities will be very important for their age group with uncertainty in Social Security; it may not be around when 18-year-olds today retire,” she notes.
"If you start a Roth IRA at 18 depositing $5,000 a year, by 52 you can have over $1 million tax free dollars." Her granddaughter serves as an example— Charlene is guiding her to save each year, showing her how fixed indexed annuities and compounding interest builds wealth safely.
Beyond retirement planning, Charlene helps clients navigate financial rules, Social Security and estate planning. "You don't just have to know about annuities and life insurance—you have to know about Social Security and IRS rules. You don't want to give somebody the wrong information."
Her client-centered philosophy ensures every individual receives the best guidance. "I am more of a relationship builder with my clients. I'm not a salesperson. I don’t push anything on anyone. I just explain the products and answer any questions they have."
Charlene's dedication to preserving her clients' assets is evident in everything she does. Whether meeting with clients in Citrus Springs, Ocala, or The Villages, she prioritizes their needs and peace of mind. "My main goal is to preserve what each of my clients have," she states. "Financial decisions can be really confusing to people who don’t know all the ins and outs, so I try my best for every client. It’s very satisfying to know I’m making a difference in their lives."

The City of Groveland is nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of South Lake County in an area well known for scenic lakes and thriving community. Known as the “City with Natural Charm,” it is regarded as one of the safest and fastest-growing cities in Central Florida. The city is rejoicing in a variety of community improvements, including a new Public Safety Complex, aquaponics farm, wildflower rain garden, splash pad, enhancements to the South Lake Trail and community gymnasium. And more good things are planned. A City Strategic Plan is in place to help balance and plan for smart growth of a complete and naturally charming community.
Groveland, which celebrated its centennial anniversary in March 2022 with a series of weekend festivities, recently welcomed Duke Energy and high-tech Kroger and Amazon fulfillment centers. City officials expect these companies to provide huge boosts to the local economy, create hundreds of employment opportunities for locals and attract other private businesses and investors.
Despite rapid expansion, Groveland continues to maintain its close-knit family feel. Groveland decision makers remain focused on prioritizing the natural topography, conserving natural resources, and adding low-impact development community-based objectives. Example: the recent adoption of a new Future Land Use Element to protect wildlife habitats through strategic growth practices. The plan will conserve more than 50 percent of natural land within approximately 53 square miles by clustering development into walkable, mixeduse towns, villages and hamlets.
In June 2023, Groveland became the first community in Florida and
the Southeastern United States to become a certified international Dark Sky Community. It was due to the community’s dedication to combating light pollution to protect the night sky and benefit all living things. Families can also enjoy the brand new inclusive Cherry Lake Park and the Elese Tomlin Empowerment Center, opened to provide after-school programs and small business incubator space.
Groveland’s newly renovated downtown Lake David Park is the place to be on the second Friday of
each month, as local vendors and business owners line the streets so families can grab food, enjoy a beverage, or discover a unique find for their home. This market is free and open to the public, with live music 5-9pm.
Looking for charm? Look no further than Groveland’s residences, gorgeous landscapes and flourishing agriculture.

What started as a roadside citrus stand has become one of Central Florida’s biggest outdoor adventure options, drawing well over 200,000 visitors annually. The Arnold family has produced citrus on the land since the early 1960s. John Jr. opened the farm’s retail outlet in 1989.
“John and I wanted to have a place where families could get away from the pressures of the outside world and have a taste of real Florida. We want to keep that off-the-beatenpath vibe,” says Tara Boshell, farm manager and John’s “better half.”
Showcase of Citrus offers a variety of activities in a natural setting enhanced by farm collectibles, including numerous antique tractors.
fossils, etc.) they uncover are theirs to take home.
Food trucks and the farm’s recently opened kitchen offer plenty of options and u-pick citrus is available seasonally. Adults will appreciate the private label fruit-based wines. Find a comfy spot to hang out or sit on a saddle at the bar and indulge in the famous Creamsicle treat—an all-natural orange juice slushy layered with vanilla frozen yogurt. Stroll through the Old Time Country Store to find locally made, small batch items,
including jams, jellies, BBQ sauces, dressings, honey, soaps, Florida souvenirs and more. If that’s not enough, there is a space that can be rented for weddings and private parties and activities such as line dancing classes, local pro wrestling shows and workshops with the Creative Kitchen available on site, pending registration.
There are no admission or parking fees on arrival, and the playground is free. Pay only for the activities you choose. Reservations suggested for the Monster Truck Adventure.
“A lot of people think they’re just going to come for an hour but end up staying for several hours instead,“ Tara says.
The Monster Truck Adventure takes guests on a 45- to 55-minute excursion through citrus groves, native woodlands, pasture and the exotic animal area.
The farm is a licensed wildlife exhibitor. What started with one zebra in 2017 has expanded to a whole herd of exotics, such as bison, Asian water buffalo, camel, ostriches, emus, black buck antelope, capybara and kangaroos.
At the farm animal section, you can pet friendly critters through the fence and buy a bucket of animal treats to feed them.

Fun family interaction. That was the mission when Stanley Pond Adventure Farm opened in 2005— and it still is.
“This is a place for families to come and play together. My idea was if they play together there’s a better chance of them staying together,” says the farm’s owner who is known to everyone as Sunflower Bob.
Making memories outdoors is easy at Stanley Pond, which features an array of activities in the Fun Zone. There’s Jack’s Jumping Pillow and 50-foot-long Suzi’s Super Slide and a splash pad featuring 20 fountains.
The Tricycle Track isn’t just for kids. These trikes are sturdy enough for adults to ride and Bob says some of the best races are when moms and dads compete.
Visitors of all ages enjoy the basketball toss, which features baskets at 15 different heights.
Stanley Pond is also a premier largemouth bass fishing facility. Bring your own bait and tackle for catch-and-release fishing in two stocked ponds.
“We’re getting parents and their kids coming to fish, and you don’t have to pay for an extra fishing license; we take care of all that,” says Bob.
Everything in the Fun Zone is included with your $15 entry fee. Admission even includes a glass vase for any sunflowers and zinnias you pick and take home.
“We’re the only year-round u-pick sunflower farm in the country. We have 15 different colors of ornamental sunflowers,” Bob says of the fields that make for fabulous photos.
Visitors are amazed they can pick sunflowers in the winter, but Bob explains that year-round weekly planting makes this possible.
Stanley Pond is popular for birthday parties, home school groups, family reunions, even small weddings and celebrations. The 23acre adventure farm is open every weekend and by appointment during the week. There’s no required minimum number of guests. “If I get a call from one dad who wants to come with his kid, I’ll open,” says Bob.

Hikers agree that the Ocala National Forest is a nature lover’s paradise.
Looking to escape crowded beaches, noisy bars or endless theme park lines? The Ocala National Forest offers a peaceful retreat where you can slow down, set your own pace and soak up Florida’s natural beauty. This serene stretch of Lake County even earned a spot on National Geographic’s top 25 places to visit in 2025, thanks to its untouched wilderness and tranquil charm. Nestled in the “Forest Gateway” at the north end of Lake County, the Ocala National Forest reveals a side of Florida few tourists ever see: towering pines, cypress
swamps and crystal-clear springs that create a stunning wilderness perfect for outdoor adventurers and those seeking a quiet escape. Here, trails are about savoring the surroundings, no matter the pace. The Clearwater Lake Loop Trail just outside of Paisley is the birthplace of the Florida Trail. This segment of the Florida Trail is the oldest and longest lasting, now commemorated by a Florida Historic Marker at the trailhead. Blazed in October 1966, this was the first official segment of our statewide trail. And the trailblazers who built the original
route here were the first-ever Florida Trail Association work crew of trail maintainers.
Traversing beautiful, moderately hilly stretches of longleaf pine forest with an open understory, this piece of trail slips around wet prairies and meanders through miles of sand hills and scrubby flatwoods on its way north to Alexander Springs.
Here you may stumble upon a belted kingfisher, a northern cardinal or a Florida scrub jay. There are plenty of hawks, egrets, cranes and owls. You may even come across a Black Bear.
One of Florida’s 27 firstmagnitude springs, Alexander Springs has crystal-clear, 72°F waters that ripple over a sandy bottom, framed by lush forests of maples, sweetgum and cabbage palms. Visitors can take a refreshing swim, picnic under shaded oaks or paddle along the scenic Alexander Run. Adventurers can also explore the spring’s broad
mouth, the only place in the Ocala National Forest where open-water scuba diving is allowed.
Alexander Springs connects to the Florida National Scenic Trail,
WE HAVE THREE ACTIVE OTTER DENS, AND IF YOU SWIM HERE, YOU MIGHT CATCH A GLIMPSE OF THEM.
SIERRA MCDONALD
with routes leading to Clearwater Lake and Farles Lake for backpackers. Day hikers will enjoy
the Timucuan Trail, a 0.9-mile loop featuring boardwalks through palm hammocks and observation decks with views of the spring run.
Sierra McDonald, a lifeguard and local ranger who lives at Alexander Springs, highlights the area’s unique ecosystem: “We have nine species of turtles, plus eels, blue crabs, stingrays and even albino big-cheeked crayfish discovered right here in the aquifer.” She notes that the spring’s consistent temperature attracts manatees, otters and even alligators during cooler months.
“The otters are a sign of high water quality,” she adds. “We have three active otter dens, and if you swim here, you might catch a glimpse of them.”
At the heart of Alexander Springs lies “the boil,” a 300-foot-wide lime rock formation marking the spring’s source. The discharging water creates a striking surface disturbance, while the pool’s depth of 25 feet reveals sandy and
limestone bottoms teeming with bass, bluegill and other wildlife.
The spring site, located six miles southwest of Astor Park and 12.5 miles northeast of Umatilla, is designated an Outstanding Florida Spring. Its semicircular pool stretches over 300 feet north to south and 250 feet east to west, surrounded by semitropical forest at the base of low, pine-wooded sand hills. A broad sandy beach along
the southwest edge provides the perfect spot to relax or begin a swim.
The spring’s outflow forms Alexander Springs Creek, a clear, slow-moving stream that transitions into a winding waterway before meeting the St. Johns River. Along its aquatic and walking trails, visitors can enjoy encounters with diverse wildlife, from fish to the occasional alligator.
Whether you’re planning a day trip hiking many of the trails or planning a camping adventure, Ocala National Forest and Alexander Springs offer a chance to reconnect with Florida’s natural beauty. From its quiet solitude to its unique wildlife, this hidden gem is a reminder that some of the best experiences happen in the great outdoors.
