Foundation

September is bursting with opportunities to engage, educate yourself and take care of your own mental health while advocating for others. Something happens to us when we serve. Our lives are not ours to keep, they are meant to be given away. Our time is not our time, our gifts are not our gifts, they are meant to be shared with others.

As has been presented at the Boule our goals and initiatives for 2022-2026 are:

See below programming initiatives for the 2022-2026 Danette Anthony Reed administration.

International Program Overview

Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. With the theme, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service by galvanizing our sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy.

This administration has six initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the administration’s “Foundation Initiative” as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission. The remaining five initiatives will serve as the “Program Initiatives” which include:

• Empower Our Families

• Build Our Economic Wealth

• Enhance Our Environment

• Advocate for Social Justice

• Uplift Our Local Community

These initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. We will work collaboratively to maximize our outreach on progressive endeavors and consistently produce leaders who will advance our credo of service. While we are continuing to work on and facilitate community service programs, there is work for everyone. We will intentionally take time to fellowship and form lifelong relationships based on affinity, love, trust, respect, and shared goals and interests, while concurrently building on our foundation to serve others. Remember, don't stand still: I challenge you to keep moving ~ growing in some area where you would like to serve. There is strength when we grow together, doing Good works.

What was the theme for the 2012 Miss Teenage Tampa Pageant?

It has been quite a summer filled with love, laughter, and learning! This summer we attended the 70th Boule in Orlando, FL and we were addressed by the Vice-President of the United States, one of our very own Soror Kamala Harris. Our annual retreat was a fun learning experience filled with laughter and sisterly moments. The MemberSHIP Committee out did themselves as they presented a Trifecta Experience. It was quite a cruise indeed. The Scholarship Committee has been hard at work behind the scenes getting poised and ready to continue to “Go Greater” as we “Soar to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.”

We are in the planning phases of putting together our 2nd Poetry Jam next June and hope to include even more young poets from the community. The Heritage scholars sub committee will be working on Going Greater in the way that we celebrate our seniors in the chapter and much discussion has taken place regarding the 50th Miss Teenage Tampa Scholarship Pageant. There is so much more to come sorors! If you are not plugged in to the Scholarship Committee now is the time do so and get ready! Sorors there would be no us without you. We hope you will work with the committee to provide additional scholarship activities within the chapter. Together we can truly make a difference!

Always in service,
