Gamma Iota, a city chapter in Buffalo, New York, was chartered in 1948. The chartering members consisted of seven sorors: Violet Talley, Alberta Cassell, Martha Cassell, Ollie Scott, Billie Lewis, Juanita Davison, and Madeline Grantham

In 1980, Sonya Sconiers was the winner of the Foreign Domestic Travel Tour Award Gamma Iota won the Scrapbook Award and the Undergraduate Sing at the 1983 Great Lakes Regional Conference in Syracuse, New York. The chapter also won the Greek Show of 1984 in Rochester, New York.

Gamma Iota was a co-host of the 1981 Great Lakes Regional Conference and cohost for the 1982 Western New York Area Cluster
