ConflictResolution ConflictResolution Workshop Workshop

Cleveland, OH - The Sorors of the Great Great Lakes had the opportunity to attend an informative workshop on technology, headed by Soror Nikoji Smith on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio We were encouraged to take our chapters to greater heights utilizing technology best practices from across the Sorority We also learned about the latest cyber security protocols The Fonteva system was introduced, which will enhance the operations of the organization A few of the recommended platforms for websites are Wordpress, GoDaddy, Wix and Squarespace The platform many chapters around the region seemed to prefer was Wild Apricot When setting up your website, make sure the acceptable documentation guidelines are used: order of logos, proper Shield, and a link back to the corporate and regional websites Keep the site up-todate with the current International President and Regional Director

Cleveland, OH - For those of us who registered for the Conflict Resolution Workshop, we were in for a treat! The workshop was hosted by the dynamic First Supreme Anti-Basileus Soror Charletta Wilson Jacks on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio!

“We cannot go through this life without having conflict” Therefore, we must employ effective communication techniques Sometimes, it takes a hard conversation-one to one That conversation is for your peace, not always for the other person The pathway of conflict begins with discomfort It progresses to incident, then misunderstanding Then tension is felt between the two parties The final step is crisis which is where no one wants to be Prior to reaching that crisis stage, we can choose three ways to handle the situation: Ignore, Resolve, or Prevent Of the three, resolution is what we would like to pursue

Recognizing traditional holiday food baskets, which require preparation and cooking, may not be practical, the committee chose to purchase healthy, well-balanced hot holiday meals from Boston Market On the designated day sorors divided into groups caroling to the sorors’ homes to deliver the meals, sing, dance and reminisce The Community Outreach Committee, chaired by Sorors Natasha Howard Cooper and Miranda Smith, continues innovating community outreach Sorors packed 10,690 pounds of food over two days at the Cleveland FoodBank during the pandemic, provided community Thanksgiving baskets and helped stock a community closet with feminine hygiene products provided at no cost to the community The committee also held its annual #NOTME workshop for adolescents and their parents to facilitate meaningful dialogue and education on human trafficking, sexting, reproduction, mental health and healthy relationships led by community subject-matter experts
