Lansing, MI - Delta Tau Omega Chapter hosted the 18th Breakfast with Santa at Reo Elementary School This free community initiative began in 2003 targeting grades K-5 in the Lansing School District The thrust of the event is to promote literacy among young children by giving them books to read. In addition, we served a hearty breakfast and distributed goody bags as Christmas gifts Santa’s helpers assisted students with festive games, painting ornaments, and making jewelry There was a splendid candy land themed background for families to preserve precious moments and take photos with Santa who brought much joy to the children

Detroit, MI - On February 25th, Alpha Rho Omega chapter kicked off their Youth Leadership Institute (YLI™), of the “Empower Our Families” initiative The 28 youth leaders in attendance did an excellent job interacting with the committee members and one another. Sorors Myrina Scott, Chairman, Jacqueline Elam and Vanessa Parnell, Co-Chairmen, along with subcommittee members, presented an engaging and informative vision of the program Youth leaders participated in fun ice-breaker activities, voted on future events, and received treat-filled goodie bags The youth leaders are preparing to SOAR by developing essential leadership skills and engaging in charitable initiatives within the community

Southfield, MI - Pi Tau Omega Chapter, launched Module 1 of the Youth Leadership Institute in November 2022.The youth have been engaged in planning and organizing youth-led and interactive activities, one of which Involved the participants crafting a group video or skit to introduce and highlight their individual traits YLI is heading into Module 2: Engagement in Exploration, Discovery, and Self-Expression; and are excited and ready to have a leadership role in managing their monthly meetings In addition, they have held elections, created vision boards and participated in emergency planning and preparedness training On February 18, 2023, we look forward to the Art Exploration, where each youth will recreate a piece of art originated by an artist from another culture. Ann Arbor, MI - Delta Psi Omega Chapter, under the leadership of cochairmen Sorors Ruth Williams and Tiffany Powell launched the CHIPP program at Estabrook Elementary School. The program caught the attention of reporters and was featured in the February 20th issue from the MLive Media Group Basileus Nakisha Chaney was interviewed to explain the ‘Empower Our Families’ Initiative Estabrook Principal Ryan Johnson is grateful to have Alpha Kappa Alpha supporting students “The kindness and responsiveness to the children and some of their basic needs has been heartfelt and well organized,” Johnson said. “…the AKA program is appreciated by kids and families ”
