Remembering West Germany_____ Ludwig Windstosser was the leading industrial photographer in West Germany after World War II. From the 1950s onward, he shot advertising images for various German companies, many of them with oblique perspectives, unusual cropping and tonal contrasts – establishing a style that would come to capture the post-war German zeitgeist. While Windstosser is largely unknown today, his influence upon future generations of German photographers cannot be understated. The Museum of Photography in Berlin is paying tribute to the late photographer with a major show – the first Windstosser solo exhibit ever staged – that features around 200 of his photographs, including artistic, industrial, urban and nature images. “Ludwig Windstosser: Post-War Modern Photography” captures life during the West German economic miracle years.
