Angel nelligan '08

One might say that Angel Nelligan has kept family tradition alive at John Bapst. Not only a relative of school co-founder Monsignor Nelligan, Angel has another relative, sharing in her athleticism, who preceded her in the very same track event –the pole vault. A far cry from her great uncle who landed on a pile of sawdust in the mid-1950s, Angel represents the Nelligan name with three state titles in the pole vault and set several school records. Her contributions to the track team helped to secure team state championship titles for each of her four year at John Bapst. Angel has fed her lifelong commitment to athletics by pursuing other sports like gymnastics and going on to become a certified strength and conditioning coach, not to mention that she is on the school’s faculty in Exercise Science and Wellness – where she imparts the pride of the Nelligan name and the insight of her passion and commitment to sports, wellness, and exercise. Angel was named the 2023 PVC Indoor Track Coach of the Year.
